Got a painful or stiff wrist? Been in cast or brace after a fracture or a sprain? Or maybe you just get wrist pain from doing pushs ups and have lost the range into flexion and extension. Then this video is for you. Check out what we do in the clinic to mobilise and stretch out the wrist to reduce the pain and stiffness and increase the range.
Also have a look at the upcoming video on the home stretches and exercises we get patients doing to help improve their wrist in between their Physio sessions.

So, a noice came out from my wrist and I checked it if it's good and it was good. Then, it's started to obstruct my workout. Recently, I don't have any problem apart from handstand. I fx the distal radius badly- oblique and displaced.
    Volar orif.
I’m 14 weeks out and have been stuck at ~40 degrees of flex and ext for 6 weeks now.
I was never immobilized and was allowed to move the wrist in all planes after 1 week.
Ortho said with ‘that much hardware it’s not uncommon to get capsular scarring’ on 12 week follow up.
He palpated the distal radius at the radial/carpal joint in flex at the dorsal portion of the joint, then the volar side of same joint in ext and determined it was indeed the capsule. Not certain how, but he is a hand/wrist specialist.
I’m a PT and have been doing what mobilizations I can-very difficult with one hand.
At what point is a capsular release warranted?
I have a follow up with ortho at 5 months at which point he will decide whether to remove hardware or not.
My take is, if the capsule is scarred already, what does removing the hardware really do for that?
Is a capsular release presumed here? It wasn’t explicitly stated.
I understand these are questions best directed towards the ortho.
But have you ever heard of scenario where the hardware is removed for the sake of adhesive capsulitis w/o doing a capsular release?
I can get decent movement from the scaphoid with PA glides. But both the proximal and distal carpals don’t seem to move in flex or ext. Even with self mobilization the carpals seem rigid. As if there simply isn’t enough room to move within the tight capsule.
There is pain at dorsal and volar portion of the radio scaphoid joint with ext and pain in the dorsal joint with flex. I suspect it’s the scaphoid hitting the radius. Fairly certain in fact.
I’ve been working with the lunate some, should I move to the distal row and mobilize?

      @@physiorehab Thanks for getting back.
Went to OT for the first 8 wks after surgery.
Too conservative in my opinion. Little to no manual therapy.
Nothing since other than my own regimen.
      Carpal mobs would be helpful.
Do you have any opinion on removing the hardware?
I don’t see why that wouldn’t cause more capsular scarring. Unless a carpal release is the plan.
Sorry, I don’t know what the ortho has in mind.
To put it this way, if we’re in my shoes, with adhesive capsulitis, would you have the hardware removed if a capsular release wasn’t planned?
I haven’t treated anything below the shoulder since my internships. They’re all given to the OTs.
So I’m pretty ignorant on the joint other than what I’ve recently researched. Had to review my carpals.
