    .............................................................
Time for a track battle - with a difference! Mat’s brought together the Porsche 911 GT3 and the entry-level 911 Carrera, and he’s taking them both out on a hot lap.
Now, it may seem pretty obvious which car will set the fastest lap time... But given there is a £40,000 price difference between these two 911s, we wanted to find out just how much more performance you get for £40k!
Let’s take a look at the stats, starting with the 911 Carrera. It’s powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six that delivers 385hp & 450Nm, and tops the scales at 1,505kg.
    The 911 GT3, meanwhile, being a track-focused car, is a bit lighter, weighing 1,435kg. It’s packing a glorious 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six engine that revs to 9,000rpm and puts down an impressive 510hp & 470Nm - that’s just 20Nm more than the Carrera!
So, should you spend the extra £40k, or does the entry-level Carrera pack enough of a punch on-track? Stick with Mat to find out!

Porsche's 911 is the platform that has the best time (911 GT2 RS) on the longest and one of the most dangerous Nurburging Nordshleife race tracks in the World. Well, that 911 exists from 1964 and look at the price of some old Porsche 911's. Porsche 911 is the the best in the World when it comes to driving dynamics, chasis, gearbox and enigines. And one more thing, cars like 911 do not depreciate as much as the other cars but go up in the value like GT3, GT3 RS or 911R or 911GT2 RS.

Great video! Two entirely different ways to enjoy a 911. I‘ve owned/own them all, and for my money, the real turbo 911, built as light as possible, skipping the sunroof, full on electric seats, FL, & the like, is the way to go if living in the U.S. The GT3 is the way to go if you are a track junkie. The lack of low end torque, especially in the U.S. where speed limits are low, make the GT3/RS a disappointment. My ultimate 911 is the GT2/RS. It’s the king (holy grail). It has Mega torque, power, speed, handling, dynamics, flair, style, and it’s rare . It’s my next/last new 911 I’m buying to replace my race/light built Turbo. There, I said it. The truth hurts. This might be the best car video I've ever seen. It is truly useful information. I loved the other multi-Porsche test as well.
Now do something no other auto channel or magazine has ever done: drag race every single available Porsche model against each other. Porsche won't want you to do this, because it probably show just how close they actually are. But it would be a great video.

Another comment we can file under “things people who don’t go to the track say”. 2 second on a tiny track like that is a big margin. In a standard 20 minute track session the GT3 would lap the Carrera and then some.
That’s not accounting for the Carreras performance falling off as the brakes and tires go out of optimal range while the GT3 holds consistently and maybe even improves.
      It’s not even close.

How much of a role do the tyres play in the times? What would be the time difference on the same tyres? would be good if all track tests were done on the same tyres as they are an easy, relatively cheap modification to make that has no insurance implications. It might make a good video to find out? do this test again but switch the tyre selection around see if extra extra 40k is worth it or would it be best to just but a better pair of shoes.

Quick chip tuning brings that Carrera to same HP (500hp). Upgraded brakes from other Porsches ~5000euros. Pluss some exhaust tuning. :)
Brings that Carrera closer to GT3. And if you choose 4S Carrera, the 0-60 is even faster i think as awd>rwd.
