    Porsche gained my respect for listening to its customers. Things like keeping hydraulic steering longer then anyone else, maintaining the use of another part im forgetting, adding the manual transmission, etc. Soon electric cars will be here where you just get in and they drive themselves or you might possibly opperate 1 pedal. Yeah, i was surprised at that.
      When he started trashing the car i thought to myself: "wow, Porsche approved this?"
      And when i saw that the video was almost done, i wondered what the catch was, as there wasn't enough time to review the GTS.
      Then he said that it was his, and yeah seeing how his head just about cleared the door, and it driving off shaped like a turtle, i couldn't help but think: "Yours. for a month or two."
      I don't picture this to become his daily, and considering he lives in the UK, chances that the top stays down are small, and he doesn't look extra cool in this specific one, so i think the enjoyment will fade rather quickly.
      That is not to say that it doesn't drive well, but i think he shoulv'e gone for the GT3 instead, especially not in that dull grey.

    The point about manual gearbox being old-fashioned is kinda true... But I have a counter-question: IF in a few years manual steering will be obsolete, because car will be able to do it for Itself, how would you react to that? At this point any sports car is pointles, because it is just a tool for being driven in, and everyone is a passenger, like in train.
    For many people manual gearbox is integral part of sports car experience, and it should be an option.

    What a car review, probably the best way to do it. A beautiful and simple storytelling with soul. You took us through a journey in 8 mins and humbled us at the end, I wanted it to keep going.
    Missed you hammy! Where have you been lately!?

    This video spoke to my soul. Brought back the times of old school Top Gear and I loved every second of it. I miss when reviews made me feel like this about cars. Now they're just "oh it has this much power" "it goes this fast in a straight line" "it comes in these colors" "electric cars are better" "buy the expensive one" etc etc etc... This was real. Thank you

    Maybe i am just too used to manuals, but every single time i get in a car with an automatic gearbox, no matter how modern, lightning fast, smooth and compliant it is, i feel like i am losing part of the control over the car. It doesn't matter how many clutches it has, doesn't matter if it has torque convertor or not, the feel for the car simply is NEVER entirely complete w/o a proper manual gearbox.

    • @gabeah
      @gabeah 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The narrative we hear on repeat. I have both a modern 911 GTS with a dual clutch and a 1988 911 with a G50 manual -fully analog. (No idea what a “proper manual” is -It’s either a manual or it’s not). You have infinitely more control over the dual clutch car and the resulting performance improvement isn’t even in the same league when in the same exact manual car. Same reason modern transmission technology is in every major racing series and manuals are gone. Driving a manual is fun, but as Hammond alludes, leave the old technology to that genre when you’re spec’ing a modern sports car.

    • @30hours51
      @30hours51 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gabeah well every modern sports car in the future will be automatic and electric it is the manual one we look back to and thought: "whatever happen to that?" People have the extra capital and time to have a extra classic car, but what if you don't? Would a brand new car with a manual hurt anything?
