    Hit the button, go down to the bottom option.. A for effort, D for description / clear picture of what you are doing in the interface.

      Bottom option is Change Filament.. unfortunately it may not be on your Creality3D Printer unless you have updated the firmware. If that is the case, it's a hotswap... Pause the print.. reset the bed and hotend to temp real quick and change the filament.

      @@makersteve934 should I still be preheating my PLA when changing filaments?

    • @makersteve934

      @@juancarlossoriano980 Yes, depending of your firmware.. Newer firmware will maintain the temp of the Hotend and bed during a "change filament". Older firmware will zero out hotend and bed temp when doing a "Pause". If your bed temp goes to zero, reset it to print temp (60) first as it will ensure your print sticks to the bed.

      @@testcase72 yup Babystep Z is my 2nd from bottom so I guess it depends what each says.
      Either way I find it easier to manually change filament instead.
      If during a print, pause it.
      If hot-end is cooled, heat it to printing temperature.
      Then compress extruder spring and manually push filament slowly until you see it coming out of the hot-end.
      Then, while still compressing the extruder spring, give the filament a brisk firm long pull until the whole length is out.
      It might be a tiny bit stringy, but if the very end has like a 1cm plug shape, you've done it correctly!

    I just got a CR6-SE a few days ago (first 3d printer) and when changing filament not sure if I need to release the brake and pull the rest of what is between the feed motor and the print head. I am pretty sure I moved the print head a little when I pulled the filament out to place a new roll on because when I resume my print job it was grinding on the piece for a few seconds before it moved x+ 3cm and started printing in mid-air, making spaghetti and killing my 3 day print job.

    Ender 3 makes a growling noise in the hot end on a certain move a back and forth move on the left side of the bed . It seems it is when it is making a wall and doing the infill. It is getting worse, it did not do it when I first got the printer. I've had it less than a month and have used almost 2 spools. Thank you so much for any help.

      Sorry for the delay in response.. I imagine you fixed it by now but.. After you cut at a 45 degree angle you may find it get hung up on the extruder compression fitting. It that is the case, unscrew the compression fitting, feed more filament thru the extruder then slide the compression fitting back on and tighten it up.

    Bro this is pretty useful because I got a 3d printer for Christmas and I did not know so when I was doing my first print I wanted to change the filement mid way so then I tried did not work did not know how to take it off the filement so I cut it off so the. That finsh and when I was trying to put the different filement and it did not come out did not work and this u stop the print too it off then try doing a new print with that filement and then it did not work me and my dad are trying to fix it and it did s not working and my dad said the next day I am going to help her m and my grandpa with chairs and then i am going to be able to mess with fix and have fun with my 3d printer but the. That same night he got hung over so then we could not go to the house and I fell asleep for the entire day and the next day I am going to Mexico and I can't bring it so I only have played with it ounce so then I have to wait a few days till I go back home so then I can play mess with it and fix it all I want t and do all of that even in the night if I wanted to so yeah this video was pretty useful so then I am able to switch out my filement a bit better and I am still watching videos on how to swap filement a and how to unclog a 3d printer and a bunch of other videos on what I think my issue is on my 3d printer:)

    My Ender 3 Pro must have different firmware. I just did my first mid print filament change and when I selected 'Change Filament' in the 'Tune' menu, the printer did not finish the current layer but instantly went to XY home and retracted the filament.
    After doing the process, I see I need to devise and implement a mechanical Z lock so it will be impossible to move the Z axis during filament changes.

    • @makersteve934
      @makersteve934  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      After you get the hang of it, you'll be able to change the filament without accidentally moving it up or down.
      Be time to practice is during a normal filament replacement.

  • @diymicha4905

I really need that information as a beginner looking to solve a problem: running out of filament mid-print and though I paused it, the job cancelled out.
    I changed filament (from sample spool) to new, found option Continue; option to recover at break. But the print head went to the top, is just moving back and forth and no filament is coming out (It did not come out at loading when I pressed, 3x). I know, I should have stopped there... I was really hoping your vid had the answer for me...almost! (Lotmaxx SC-10)

    Sorry for being critical, but you said “select bottom option” without saying what that option was. Not all printers have the same options or option order. Also, nothing about hotend temperature? In a real run-out situation, it would have cooled and not pull filament through, and if you reheat too hot it will cause a jam and ruin your print. Advice… address more scenarios that people go through, as they’re likely watching this while experiencing them.

    Hit what "Button"???

    • @makersteve934
      @makersteve934  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is only one button on an ender.. There are two options to choose from depending on firmware. Pause (where you have to set the bed temp and nozzle immediately after choosing pause so your print doesn't release) or Change Filament which does everything for you.

    I've known people that just feed a new spool as the old one runs out.

    Click on the main button, scroll down 2 spot and click yes, then hit the red powwow button, turn the ignition & start the engine. Now your space ship is done and you no longer need to refill the filament.

    doesnt this create an ugly layer line when the print resumes? The steppers never know how to exactly go back to position. I wish there was a better way

      @makersteve934  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can but not always. You are trying to save a print so it's a good gamble. I try to ensure it is working on infill rather than the exterior walls.. That works pretty well for me.

    welp i am a day and 7 hours into a print with about 8-10 hours to go and I still feel like I might f it up.

    • @makersteve934
      @makersteve934  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Different firmware gives different options. If you go into tuning "Tune" and scroll down and you have "change filament" it's a no Brainer. If not. Pause the print and set the bed and hotend temp the same as your print, change the filament and then resume..

      @@pellbellgellbiff9401 just don't move the gantry... That's the challenge for sure. After you've done it a few times it's no issue.

    What is the point of making a video on TH-cam if you aren't going to "video it".
    Just make an audio and podcast it... That way I won't listen to it and I won't waste any minutes of my life.
