    Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by and watching this video. I am actually currently putting together a series of videos about handling filament. From the very basics like chaning filament to more complicated things like clogged nozzes, oozing etc. Also there will be some more coming in 2019 about different filament types and how to handle them but I am still building the long tail content here so stay tuned for more. Happy to have you all :-)

    Didn't know which video on "how to change filament" I should pick, saw the Engelbert Strauss T-Shirt and immediately thought "this guy seems trustworthy". Thanks for the help.

    Best explanation on TH-cam! I tried a few others and I kept getting blocked by the extruder nozzle. I can't thank you enough.

    Great video. Thanks. I've been 3D printing for several years but my printers always had automated filament handling. My new Sovol SV01 is a very simple printer with manual filament loading and unloading. I bought it because simplicity usually translates to reliable and easy to maintain.

    I used to have problems getting the filament to enter the heat break from time to time so I converted my fan to a magnetic mount. Now I just take off the fan and can see the filament path much easier. Thanks for the video!

    When you push the filament through so It comes out of the nozzle do you let go of the button first or no?

    Great video loads great tips, but if you leave pla in the nozzle at high temperatures it basically training it and will be harder to extrude, this is why I always print a skit or brim so the filament is running smoothly when the model stats printing. I would not leave it two minutes I find the temperature is normally accurate to about 5 degrees +-

    • @Crosslink3D
      @Crosslink3D  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, good tip. I use a skirt if possible and also some initial G-CODE to press some filament out of the nozzle in the left front corner of the bed.

      Do you do that on cura, or another software, it who'd make a good video, although i have the stock main board.

      Thanks I'm not home for the weekend but will change the software when I get back, if you don't mind I will make a video on it. Also I'm going to make a video on Craigslist converging the anets A8 acrilic frame for a sheet metal one, the design is on thingyvers and since you have a more upgraded printer I was wondering if you who'd like to make a video with me about it, compering how to change from almost stock and changing from a completely upgraded one,
      Hear is the link to one of the designs let me know which one you think is best
      www.thingiverse.com/thing:2736479
      Just so you know I want to do this upgrade so I can transport the printer without worrying about it braking, o who'd love to make the video with you

    the throat on my anet a8 broke in the middle after having a clogged nozzle, most probably due to a bad filament change, I'm now waiting for a replacement, with this I would like to know whats the best way to clean the whole hot end, heating block and stuff in case of it happening again? I can´t seam to take off the heating element, and I feel too afraid to pull it out because I know i might break the thermister

    • @Crosslink3D
      @Crosslink3D  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raimundo buckfield at some near point in the future, I will definitely do a video about it! In general, you might be best heating up everything to print temp first, then remove the nozzle and the throat, then quickly remove filament rests with a metal brush and scissors from the heat block. Take a heatgun and use it to heat up the throat and a metal rod that u use to stick through to clean the inside. Temp at 200+ degrees. Clean the threads with a metal brush too. Reassemble again when heated up not when it’s cold. Otherwise oozing filament could occur because there tends to be a little gap between the nozzle and the throat inside of the cooling block. When you assemble cold then the gap gets larger when it’s hot.

    Should i pull the filament out, as soon as the nozzle begins to ooze filament?

      Yes, and then pull fast

    If you change the same type of material (PLA) when you load the second filament until it reaches and the first one starts to come out, why should it be pressed until the first one comes out?
    What happens if you don't let the first one all out?
    I don't mind if there will be two colors for the printed object.
    Have you tried to see what happens?

      My best solution was to cut it off right above the nozzle and push it through with a sharp tool, such as a small hex wrench.
