- I failed in my design task. I started designing a holder for few bits and pieces for the Leatherman Surge and I ended up with a stand alone multitool.
Very well crafted! one of the best attributes about 3d printing is its adaptability and when an item breaks down you can easily print a new one.
Really nice design. Very compact for all that functionality. Bravo.

Awesome. Would love to see one for regular bits. I personally do not like the flat bits for any size too thick to be full 3D

Maybe for the best? You have greater freedom to do what you want and stay true to your vision. No disrespect to Leatherman. They can't run with all ideas.

This is definitely a great setup. I wish the bits were made better and I wish that ratchet was available. I use wiha double sided bits but I also have a Leatherman Knifeless Rebar with the bit adapter so nothing is that flat system. It would be awesome to have a small system like this but 1 construction screw wears out the bit enough to possibly strip out the next screw, in my experience. The Phillips lasts longer than the torx and hex though. I just use a pocket tool pouch for the bit adapter, bits, extension and ratchet. I am glad that I was able to get 1 ratchet but I wish I would have bought 3 now. I always wanted the Surge but the flat bits quality and the lack of ratchet made me go with the Knifeless Rebar route and I either carry a Victorinox, utility knife or pocket knife, which ever fits my needs that day. This setup has me in Envy, because of how small it is. The T shank alone would be amazing for me.

thats absolutely brilliant!!!! if you don't put that in production yourself you can get a patent on it I'm sure leatherman would buy that idea and put it in production
Thank you. I do sell this. About the patent. Is not wort it and probably is impossible for Leatherman as it have SAK s parts in it and some other reasons. But you are right people copying the design of others without even giving credit to who come with the ideea. Not only that but people who cannot come up with theyr ideas are saying that if they strugle copying the design is theirs because took long time to do it. Also I seen some Facebook and redit users requesting if someone can copy the design of what they like on internet but they dont like to pay for it and the admin don't do anything about it. That way you dont have to much inovation in this domain as people capable to make that inovation stay away fromvthis domain as the long hours of work is not pay for. This will be my case also as I am willing to not put my moods online anymore.
You created it mainly for yourself so you already created it, its your choice to share it or not,but why not share it to make other people have it aswell? If you won’t share it somebody else maybe would, or you wouldn’t even be recognized about your craftsmanship,you can get credit by putting some sort of brand on it the thingverse is mainly free, probably in the future Ai could come up with free 3d designs, because it can now already design sophisticated pictures online, there probably will be an abundance of designs, i would be happy to give my design away otherwise it wouldn’t even exist in the world. 9/10 It would only rot away in solitude on a shelf when your life cycle ends. But i totally understand the hours and money part. The thing is you already created it, others just take it for free with no hours putting into it while you did. But yeah life aint fair.
Do some research on patents. Most things aren’t worth it or unable to patent. Not to mention patents actually prevent more growth than promote it.
@@Hood.Housekeeping true but there also the reason people started companies ans when afraid to but eventing that has in building companies..you have to have something to grow on..while leatherman want able to put a patent on the basic idea leatherman tool group has a bunch of patents ..so u rather leatherman just start doing it on the own when some else was doing it like there new leather edc line ( I was told patents on stuff like that couldn't be done but I haven't verified that) the wave for example the went afford to put alot into making it because that knew they were safe...to grow you need something to grow on but I do understand what your saying on alot of things its not worth it

Hi Dan. I do not find you email. about the prices and geographic availability, as this was developed together with the users on my "my leatherman" facebook group the details remain there. At the moment because of the bureaucratic problems I sell only in the EU and the prices are 20 euros for charge companion and 37 for surge companion and 7 for the optional universal adaptor. Sorry for not answering sooner but I am very sick this days and not able to work on both jobs at once.

I do use it in that way sometimes. I open the companion and, without taking the file out, move the fingernail over it to eliminate any pinch

Hi. Those are available only in EU at the moment due to custom complicated paperwork. Prices are 20 euros for charge companion 37 for the surge one and 7 for the universal adaptor.
