I feel like parents should (every now and then) allow the child(ren) to see the process of scheduling appointments, paying bills, running errands, making calls, etc. This will make them both thankful that they are young but also educate them on how things are done so that adulting is not so much of a shock

  • @bre3495

I'm starting to see (At 28 😭) that adulting is basically nonstop, non-negotiable planning. Ghetto for sure. There's benefits to being grown but let's be honest this is for the birds! 😓

Adulting is super hard. I have a 10 month old and I’m a single mom. I nested hard and bought a house and started a side business lmbo. I’m a one woman show and now I’m overweight with baby weight and trying to get on an IF or ADF schedule on top of fitting in fitness, better food, and now getting my daughter on a schedule and cooking good foods for her because I’m a very hands on mom. Maintaining a home hasn’t been easy while working full time and parenting full time. I’m also in school full time y’all, getting a trade in Radiography with the hopes of becoming a PA (Physician Assistant). Chileeeeee, tired doesn’t even come close to describing me lol. But I take a lot of pride in being the best version of myself and being the best mom I can be. My goal is to get my baby and I into a better neighborhood and her into a better school system. I think me being a Capricorn has something to do with me putting so much on myself. I expect a lot from myself and I’m my own worse critic.

Buuut, I definitely agree that the life essentials (taxes, insurance, bills, investing, stocks, current events, etc) should be taught while you’re young. If school systems won’t do it (which they won’t) we’ll have to educate our children ourselves. 🙏🏾

Josh and Isi, Your future kids are going to be lucky to have you guys as parents.
I think another piece of advice people tell us that we blow off is to enjoy the season of being a single couple ( without kids). Maybe you (and the collective) didn’t appreciate your season of being a teenager but you guys can enjoy being a youthful beautiful young couple with their own money! You guys got this season and you got this moment. I think a lot of pain comes from time traveling into the future and past and thinking I will be happy when this happens or I was happier when I had it like this. Know this moment ain’t half bad and appreciate it for what it is.
Anyway, the wise say, enjoy the season of being single, enjoy the season of being a couple, the season of being engaged, and then married and then being married with kids. Just be grateful for where you are at.
Love to the quality gang and of course Josh and Isi ❤️🥳🙏🏾✌🏾

To a very large extent, adulting can seem like one extended moment of waiting to exhale. Unless you make time to rest, there’s no time to rest because there’s *always some responsibility to be executed. It can definitely be liberating at times, but sometimes, it’s like a non-stop hamster wheel.

Love this convo. One thing that I wanted to react on is the adulting part.
It's not adulting, it's capitalism. The fact that we are/get/can be out of balance as we grow up/adult/professionalize is related to what our society focuses on. It's adulting on the cover, but the secret ingredient related to the specific time issue is capitalism. It makes us feel like we success when we go hard, rest is a treat instead of a need. Food is not a need, it's a when I have time. I personally also struggle with eating, I figured I have to plan and organize groceries, from what I need to when I will buy it. And planning and executing meal preps, buying snacks w/ nutritions (fruits, nuts & smoothies).

as a fellow entrepreneur I think we should normalize speaking positively about our blessings. I know things can get tough but for people who work for others and have to literally slave all day at minimum wage ,it sounds a little ungrateful. There’s so much beauty in adulthood I prefer to focus on the positive

Yeah I hear you but we can also simultaneously acknowledge what's wrong and what right at the same time . Me verbalizing what I dont like about adulthood doesn't hinder me from acknowledging what I do love and appreciate about adulthood . I think it's when we have to remain so positive we can't even tell the truth that makes us become passively more negative .

If you find it hard to fit time in to eat, protein shakes and smoothies and a good supplement they are really quick. Primere protein was a good solution for me for breakfast and I would make a smoothies later in the day to help curb my appetite without over eating later on. You can pre chop your veggies and fruit before hand in ziplock bags and then take them out as needed and blend quick.

Speaking 💯 facts!!! My hubby and I decided to homeschool our children and we have three. Thankfully my hubby is in finance. We are college sweethearts. We got together during sophomore year. Now that we have kids we teach them as part of math to learn budgeting concepts. My two daughters have their own business selling jewelry. They are learning skills at home such as cleaning and all that etc. As an adult their are some things I am unlearning and relearning as well. So many things that adulting has and we aren't prepared for...I'm sorry this is everywhere but such is life...back to the children we are also following Dave Ramsey's smart kids concepts to fit our life and you can see the difference. Learning fundamentals are so important. My hubby is also a TH-camr so they will learn those skills. I own a tutoring business so we can have them learn business skills as well.im so glad you mentioned this!

To be honest, when I see what curriculum is taught starting from Elementary up to High school, I see it as teaching you the basics you need to know, but also exposing you to different subjects that you may be interested in down the road. So I do see some value in being exposed to different things because you never know what your niche might be.
Now when you hit college then I think that’s the appropriate time to take a business course. Personal Finance, Corporate finance etc. I think that’s when it matters to you the most, other than trying to learn that in middle and high school.

I’m 19, turning 20 this year, and adulting is creeping up on me like a storm. Somehow I feel I should have my shit together. I have been going through some adult things that are pushing me to get my life in order and get serious about shit (especially financially). I know I’m still extremely young, but I feel life (God lowkey) is pressuring me to put my grown woman pants on, specifically with the milestones I promised myself when I was a teen I’d accomplish in my 20s. It’s been GHE - TTO, been unstable the second I got out of high school (I study abroad, in middle of the PANORAMIC, you can imagine). However, even though I’ve been going through it I’m sure if God hadn’t literally KICKED my ass out of my comfort zone, I would NEVER get to working to achieve what I want to do at the time I’d like to. It’s not easy but I hope all the anxiety and pressure is worth it.

All you have to do is use the anchor app. You can start by just using the audio from these videos and then evolve to structuring the convos to ur unique podcast style! The anchor app is a Spotify company

It’s so funny how you mentioned a self care basket cause that is exactly what I made my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day. It’s kinda expensive but it’s a good investment because they are gonna use EVERYTHING. Nothing is going to go to waste and they feel good after using it

Raven Elyse currently does a visual podcast as well as a regular one. It’s called On Another Note. I think she talks about pulling the audio and just loading it to make the podcast. If I can find the video about it I’ll link it.

Hey josh and Isi, maybe try pre-prepping meals in containers and storing them in the freezer for a few days or so at a time, and when you're hungry, you just heat up one. Next time y'all cook, make a larger portion and store some away.
