How to replace the battery on your Dyson V6™ cordless vacuum

- See how to replace the battery of your Dyson V6 and DC59 cordless vacuum. Your machine may differ from the example shown, but the process remains the same.
If your machine displays a red flashing light that flashes more than 12 times, this could mean that the battery needs replacing.
Always ensure you disconnect your machine from the charger cord before carrying out any maintenance.
The battery pack can be removed from the machine by undoing the 3 Philips screws which hold it in place - one on the handle, and two on the underside of the machine.
The new battery pack can then be fitted in the same way.
Step 1. Remove the three screws on the underside of the battery.
Step 2. Dispose of the existing battery as per local codes and regulations.
Step 3. Locate the new battery into the handle.
Step 4. Secure in place with the three existing/supplied screws.

i cannot overstate how pleasant that this video is essentially “silent”. no cute or “simple” fun background music, or someone talking. or even text on screen. literally watch. doesn’t matter what language you speak. nothing distracting. thank you.

Has anyone at Dyson never used a cordless drill/screwdriver battery pack? After the power is gone. You can't switch to mains. You can't simply plug in a fresh battery. It's a huge oversight in design. Unclip. Slide. Done. Efficient and convenient.
I was going to write the same, basically Dyson uses same business model Apple uses for iPhone memories: you need to buy a more expensive model to get more battery life. I’m returning my V6 and will get something more practical.

Thanks, I gave my mom our old dyson vacumm and I feel bad it wasn't working properly. The battery kept dying after a few minutes of being used. I finally looked online and ordered a new battery. I hope the power lasts much longer.
Still dont understand why you guys cant make the battery snap detachable like a cordless drill considering the short run time on these things. Would be convenient to hot swap a battery on the fly...
They've fixed that issue on the newer models (V11 and onwards)

Got an after market battery on eBay for $14 and my v6 acts brand new. Saved a ton of money. Glad I didn’t get expensive Dyson parts. This vid made it simple and easy.

Thanks for not putting a battery management system in the vacuum so the batteries either charge too much or discharge too much so we have to replace batteries more often! Love it

Is it necessary to have new phillips screws? I have purchased a new battery from Dyson but no screws included.

Why does the new battery come with a new set of screws??? are the old ones worn out? lmfao!!!
