Do you have a Dyson cordless vacuum and you need a replacement battery for it? We have had a Dyson Cordless Vacuum for about 5-6 years now and the battery has started to go bad on us so we got on Amazon and found a 3500mAh replacement battery with 2 extra filters at a great price.
In this video I do an unboxing of the Dyson battery to check it out and make sure that it is the right one for my Dyson vacuum, and then I show you how to install a Dyson vacuum battery. The installation was a little tricky because I didn't notice all of the screws that you had to take out to get the old battery off. I thought that it was only one screw, but there are two screws.
Once you take off both of those screws, the old battery should fall right out and you can put in your replacement battery.

UPDATE We have been using the new battery for a few days now, and the suction strength is WAY BETTER! If you are having suction issues it could be that you just need to replace your battery!

Thanks buddy! You make the battery replacement a lot easier, no need to fish out where the screws are, I wouldn't know one is hiding, you need to take off the vacuum cup to access it. Good one! 👍
My cousin brought over his dyson with battery pack, I’m impressed and it’s lightweight and I want one.
we love ours! It works so well, and it's so easy to use.
I Use a V6 fluffy for 5 years now, the battery is up to replacement. Thanx for the useful hint! About four times a year i dismantle the head completly as discribed in the manual and put it, together with the container and the filter, in the dishwasher. I let it dry overnight on the radiator. Nice job😄!

In your upright Dyson DC14 I recommend you replace the clutch (the rubber belts stretch out over the years) and maybe a new brush and it will work like new since you had it for such a long time! Or have you considered the new Dyson ball animal upright? That thing is a mega beast!!

Thank you so much! I love that you knew some of us might need some guidance with this specific issue. Gotta love youtube. I have the same exact vacuum. Love it - it IS super easy. I wasn't sure if I could get bigger mAh on the battery but now I know ( it's just the amount of power the battery will hold so more mAh -milli Ampere hours- means I can vacuum more "hours" before it needs a recharge). Check your local recycling centers to see if they'll take the old battery. They usually take electronics on certain days and would definitely take the old battery. Don't need that rotting in a landfill. Lastly, I think women are more and more dealing with all these types of things so maybe an updated greeting would be more inclusive. I'm neither a Dad nor a Mom but a do-it-yourself-chick who needs to change her battery pack! Ha ha! So again, thanks for making this video. Super helpful. 🙏🏻

I have the older DC31 model and changing/swapping battery is so much easier. I have 3 aftermarket batteries so I use it longer than 10mins or 6mins on high.

My original battery is still holding the charge longer. You just have to setup a 3 hours timer on your phone so you could disconnect the power. Sometimes the overcharging protection will not trigger correctly to protect the battery. The only way to keep the lifespan stable for any lithium-ion batteries, you have to follow 40-80% charge rule to prevent overcharge and undercharge.
I have the same dyson, My unit worked good for 3 months. would not keep its charge following 3 months to 5min,. ordered the same 3500 MAh and using the same charger. works for 10 seconds and stops. Need help. Are you using the same charger!!!!!!!! thankz bro.
Hi there, a UK dad and now (young) grandad here, simple battery swap but are you getting any extra run time with the higher capacity battery. I just got a v6 animal but the runtime is low 17-20 minutes and 6 minutes in turbo mode with the standard 2100mAh battery and I've seen replacement batteries up to 4000mAh's on Amazon UK but because I got the Dyson on offer it will still work out cheap than a v8 even with the cost of the higher power battery. What's your thoughts or anyone else feel free to add any advise. Thanks
I haven't taken the time to calculate how long the newer battery lasts, but we did notice that the vacuum has more suction power than it used to on the old battery. I'll take more power over longer lasting so that we get a deeper clean.
The V8 is much better machine. However, I still like the floor brush from the V6 as it is shallower than the V8, it goes under tighter places way better than the V8's brush.
Please tell me what screw driver size you used to replace battery?
I've tried Torx T8 and didn't work.
You should only need a standard phillips screwdriver for most dyson models. Looks like a pointed cross or plus sign (+).

im informed its very important that the filter is washed or replaced as its critical to the machines performance so dont just leave it also there are battery companys who have offices in sussex who supply half price gear from china read loads of bad reviews
so decided to pay the top price from dyson if any probs re longevity they will sort im sure

So how long did this cheaper battery last for? Depending on which company they are made by, the reviews differ & many have said the battery life is so short they are not worth it.

how reliable are non oem dyson battery? does the extra mAh really perform better than OEM from Dyson?
We didn't see any difference when we switched to the non oem. Although my son dropped it last month and the vacuum stopped working for us, so that's become our problem lately.

My Dyson V6 has two small Phillips head screw in it. Don’t force them as you don’t want to strip the head.

rodden1953 Sorry no, mine came out fine, had to use a bit of force but it worked. Make sure you have the right size screwdriver.

My V6 Motorhead battery is 21.6V with 2100mAh. If we use 3500mAh, would this higher capacity battery is compatible with the machine? Would it burn or overload the motor?

I don't believe the plastic on the battery housing is cracked. It's just the look of the plastic. I have that look on my OEM battery and the vacuum itself. Good vid. And the aftermarket batteries are definitely a better value and you get more juice. Almost 100 bucks for a Dyson factory battery? I don't think so. Mine took a dump after the first year.

I replaced the battery, the vacuum wasn’t work ( I can’t change it to the new battery) but the new battery will charge if battery is outside the vacuum

Well, our story with this battery is that our 1 year old got a hold of it and dropped it and it no longer works. Wish I had better data for you.
All replacement rechargable batteries should be fully charged before use
The screws are real junk. So 1) use the right size screw driver, 2) assure that you have good contact and go slow, 3) clean up the threads, the tiniest drop of anti-seeze can't hurt, 4) put the screw in the best condition in the deeply recessed hole when you go back.
I know this may sound like excessive effort, but considering what total junk these screws are, this can save you a headache if you replace the pack in the future. And thanks for the video. These types of machine can have weird little tricks to them so it's always best to check out someone who has done it.

Earlier models of Dyson had the option of swapping batteries easily, they had a release button so you could swap batteries like you do with power tools. I hacked my Dyson... I took the battery screws that attaches the battery pack to the Dyson and used a velcro strap to keep the battery in place. Works great and I can swap batteries any time.

Getting the highest capacity is likely bad advice. Anything over 3600 or so is going to be a lie. It is unlikely this battery was actually 3500 mah. This is not meant to be critical of the video but a word of caution to would be buyers. Name brand is usually worth the extra money unless there is a proven to be good aftermarket battery.

The mah's these amazon batteries are rated at are greatly exaggerated. The genuine dyson rated at 2100 Mah uses sony vtc 18650 batteries which are the best around. Whatever the mah stated on Amazon it is highly unlikely that any of them use such good cells!!!!

A beautifull "Made in China" battery that will last 6 months or less !!! Cheap batteries don't last for years like your old one !!! I encountered the problem in remplacing my Laptop genuine battery by a more powerfull one from China ....The battery ran out of order in 5 months !!!
lol. read all of the negative reviews on Dyson cordless vacs, almost everyone is due to the poor Dyson battery. they are no better but triple the price!
