My battery died exactly after two years of use. Dyson actually sent me a new battery free of charge; not sure if it's because I complained about purchasing a new charger thinking that was the problem. The dyson battery replacement video has no vocals on TH-cam so I love this video Ray. I also appreciate your comments too. Thanks for doing it

Mine lasted 13 months had to contact dyson for a replacement. It's still under warranty thank God! Love this Hoover but they need to sort the batteries out. Thanks for the video!

@@2musiclover534 hey ' basically they thought it was the battery turns out it was the charger lol 😆 it wasn't doing anything was totally gone, no lights nothing. But they sent out the battery popped it in still nothing. As it was the charger. So got a free battery lol. Mine was still under warranty. But tbh they need longer warranty on these hoovers like the free standing hoovers from dyson. 2 YEARS isn't enough in my opinion. Especially when there's numerous problems with them!
I did this on my Dyson V-10 Animal. I found a battery that was more powerful and it came with 2 filters replacements, it works better than new!!.

My dyson is still under warranty so dyson are sending me a new battery. They did however say not to leave the power on, on the docking station, once the vac is charged. Apparently this causes the battery to over change and therefore reduces its lifespan.
I’ve had mine 11 months.

Great easy to follow instructions for battery replacement. Mine didn't totally fail, but it stopped holding a charge for very long during use. And it would drain immediately if I used the max setting during use.

I have had my SV12 for at least 5, 6, or 7 years. Battery is just recently not holding charge as long. Does this battery work for the sv12 also?

Hi Ray, our battery died and order ours on your link. Just arrived and tried changing and screws were in so tight I stripped the screws trying to get them out. Thought it was coming out so kept unscrewing now have added problem of getting the stripped screws out. Can you help get that done, and getting new screws to use to put battery back in. I am notarized DIY type of person but thought surely I could do this after watching you video. You made it look so simple!! Any help given will be appreciated.

Do you think that putting the screws back is nessicary? Like if you wanted to use two batteries.

Thanks for the question. It has been working well but I had to exchange the battery, at least twice, and my trigger just failed so I have to repair it. Other than that I loved the machine. The trigger failing is a common problem with this machine made of plastic and not durable. Don’t know if they changed the design.

My battery died in less than a month. Brand new Dyson from their store as well. So frustrating.
Reach out to Dyson customer service. You should have year warranty for your purchase.

I wish a user experience focused company like Dyson would have the foresight to design these vacuums with a swappable battery like a cordless drill. They would sell more batteries that way. The battery lasts 10 minutes for me.

In my opinion the battery screws are far tto small and easily stripped.I have contacted Dyson on this.

Helping a single lady neighbor replace her Dyson battery that won’t keep a charge anymore. The 3 screw Phillips head were stripped from installing the battery. So I got 2 of them out after a lot of hard work. The 3rd one wouldn’t budge. I used aa Dremel tool cutter to cut through the battery plastic to cut a straight line through the screw head since the battery was going to be thrown away anyway. Was able to remove it with a straight screw driver. This is the worst design ever. The new screws were tough to get in. Almost stripped them putting them in. I would never buy or recommend a $500 Dyson vac for this reason only.
It sounds to me, that it was user error. Using to proper size tool should have avoided damage to the screws. I really like my unit, but i'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience.
@@DIYRAY Don’t think so.had the right tool/phillips head screw driver. The fit is ridiculously tight. It was like the screws had loc-title on them. Almost as hard as putting them in. Terrible design. Glad you like yours. I’d never buy one….

Hey folks, we used our Dyson every other day maybe every third day we got about five years out of it either 10 would've been nice to meet James Dysons battery standard of 15 years. A dead battery will blank about 20 times and that's the signal code for dead battery! I knew Dyson battery OEM or original equipment manufacture will run you about $150 Canadian or basically not getting that cavity fixed next time you go to the dentist. The choice is yours. Mr. James Dyson knows a bit about vacuums while he didn't invent a vacuum. He should stick to vacuums because he has no idea about batteries.! The other claim to fame that bothered me from Mr. James Dyson is that he states his vacuum ever use his suction there's almost no vacuum on the market that loses suction completely because anything less than standard atmospheric pressure is considered a vacuum so basically even if it's just barely doing anything, it's still considered a vacuum and it didn't lose suction and ive never had a vacuum that lost complete suctio sex. If enough of us get together and ask Mr. Dyson for replacement battery and he gets on the social media I think you'll do it maybe I'll put his money where is notice? I wonder if his bum gets jealous of his mouth with alll ll the SH.T that comes out of it!

Your reppacement battery is lighter because it doesnt have the same capacity the original Dyson had. Less power and less run time using much cheaper components and will most likely fail just like the original if not sooner. I would also bet any amount of money that the seller lied about the battery specs.
It has been 2 years since i made this video. The battery is still working and the power is fine. Thanks for the opinion but I’m doing well with this battery. Maybe I just Jinx myself now. 😃
