Innerloc CARNAGE Mechanical Broadhead Test

  • This is one crazy looking mechanical broadhead by Innerloc...let's see how it performs at all the different levels of testing that I am currently doing--flight, edge sharpness/edge retention, penetration, and durability.
    #mechanicalbroadhead
    #threeblade
    #accurate
    For edge sharpness and retention, I do a simple push paper test over the blade. Then I stroke the edge with an Easton Hexx shaft twice, to see how dull that makes the edge--does it still cut paper? And I test the penetration thru 1/2" MDF, 2/3" Rubber Foam Mat and Clear Ballistics Gel, FBI Grade. I also see how many layers of cardboard it will penetrate through. Then for mechs, I shoot it into MDF 5 times and see how well it holds up. The scores are posted at the end of each video.
    Innerloc has a fairly strong reputation when it comes to broadheads, but it also has been known to produce some rather "unusual" designs.
    I always appreciate creativity in broadhead design, but sometimes it ends up backfiring. Has that happened with the Carnage? The cut size and flight of this head are excellent, but the durability is certainly suspect. And the penetration is also questionable given the blunt plunger type tip. But again, let's see how it holds up to my tests.
    I'd love to hear your comments about this head...Have you used it in the field? How has it performed for you?

      Well, I just try to let the heads speak for themselves. I Broadhead is going to do what a broadhead is going to do--I just provide the tests to see what that is. I don't want a company to fear me; I do try to be respectful of them all.

    I think on flight, IF that sticker was perfect flush behind that lip, and STAYED there, flight could be great. But I cannot even fathom that the sticker would stay in place perfect with going in and out of a quiver, moisture, brush, and just general degredation of the sticker. That idea alone seems completely ridiculous to me.

      I shot two deer earlier this year with these heads. Both broadheads had broken off blades on normal broadside shots. It didn’t even touch the shoulder blade. And upon closer inspection the blades that were still attached were cracked at their attachment point and barely hanging on by a thread. I managed to recover both deer but these heads will never be in my quiver again!

  • @josephfolsom2030
    @josephfolsom2030 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I see some other problems. If you don’t put that wrap on correctly the air will grab the open area of the wrap and it will fly erratically. Also, a person could bleed to death putting on those wraps. Funky broadhead in my opinion

    • @tythomps
      @tythomps 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They actually wrap a lot cleaner than the example he gave. I have paralyzed hands and am able to wrap them myself no problem. No cuts either. They're actually arrow wrap material and we all know how well that sticks. I had zero issues in the hot, cold, rain, and snow all season with the wraps on mine.
      That being said, I won't be using them on deer anymore. Simply not durable enough.

    Cool looking head, but I would worry about the sticker stay on after several days of rain, I can see them falling off, left and right, I think they need to step back, get stronger pins to hold the blades, and something a little different to hold the blades closed.
    Cool idea, but I believe those are a complete fail..

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, can't disagree there.

    • @tythomps
      @tythomps 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's actually an arrow wrap, not a "sticker" per say. We all know how ridiculously well arrow wraps stick. Mine stayed on all last hunting season through heat, cold, rain, and snow.
      But those blade attachment screws, dang, way too weak. And that collar should have some cutting edges on it to increase penetration.
      After using it I like the wrap more than other methods and they deploy the blades super reliably. If innerloc were to improve the other issues I'd definitely use them on deer again.
