Hey Capt. Thank you for the videos. I’m watching them for the second time. I just ordered my Reactor 40 V2 auro pilot system for my boat. Can’t wait to install it!
With the help of your thorough step by step 2019 video on the Raymarine EV100 install, today I just completed a EV150 install on my 07 Parker 2320. Still need to do the final programming out on the water. A million thank you's to you man !!!
I am glad that it helped captain and you picked the right unit the 150 is a lot better than the 100 is , the ev150 is the right size for your boat and Im glad it has helped you install yours thank you so much for the awesome feedback captain and always navigate safe👍👍🛥⚓
Nice work and above professional caliber installation. You would be lucky to find anyone in the business that takes the extra steps you have, not only in the careful install, but trying to maintain order and clean installation in an area most never see, but very important for the operation and function of the boat. Great job and well worth the time watching, thank you!
Thanks for the encouraging cap. And i try my best to keep everything organized and yes some installers do a poor job because they dont take pride on their work, thanks cap.⚓️👍🛥
Thank you! I will be installing auto pilot as well, with the inspiration I received. First project is trolling motor anchoring and fishing not working out. Just wondering if you noticed improved fishing with trolling motor? Im thinking achoring boat specially with a windless so noisy scares fish away.
Great install! You probably saved $800 or more on installation and I know it is a better job of wire management. I am looking forward to the sea trial.
Yes it does JB I was thinking that myself the other day that if I didn't have to record I could do the installation 10 times faster you're right about that captain
Just an FYI. How large are the wires that go from the bus bar to the battery switch?. Mine was only 12 Guage and I changed it out to 6 Guage. Buy connecting to the bus bar you have count the length of the wire from the bus bar to the battery for amperage drop. If you read the instructions to the auto pilot the wire size must be increased the farther away from the battery the auto pilot is installed. The standard wire the boat manufacturers supply the the bus bar at the front of the boat is only intended to run what they already have connected to it from the factory. If you have ever seen what an overloaded 12 volt wire looks like it resembles a lit fuse. I actually rewired my entire boat with tinned (marine) wire and heat shrink connectors. Most manufacturers use automotive wire and connectors. It would add a substantial amount of money for the boat manufacturers to use marine grade wire and connectors. I have seen automotive type wire in boats costing 275k.
Thank you and thanks for using my links when you get your system because it really helps make more videos like this really appreciate your help captain👍👍🏝
I like your DIY videos. Obviously lots of thought goes into each project. I’m impressed that you always seem to have the right tools. Sometimes that can make or break a project. Keep the videos coming. Great job !
Agree with you Jim as time went by I had to get equipment to do installations buto do installations but you're right hardly anybody has all the equipments you need to do installation thank you for watching and always have a good safe captain
Thanks Andrew and I think you're going to love it these new pumps are awesome they're very quiet and very reliable As a matter of fact you can hardly hear them at all I'll keep you updated thank you for watching captain
Once again Captain a very well instructed video. When I do decide to get the Auto Pilot for my new boat, I will be turning back to your video's for reference on helping me install this. When you asked about the price difference on what you put in and what was quoted me was they quoted the "Smart pump" which added another $1,000.00 to the cost. I'm wondering if i could get by with the 1.2 liter pump? Maybe to small for a 26ft twin outboards. What do you think?
Well captain for your boat you can use the 2.0 lider pump that is made for 2 engines I am a 100% on that but you may want to check with raymarine and they may tell you the same thing the 1.2 is for one engine and the 2.0 is for 2 engine systems I hope this information helps And yes the smart pump is well over price but is a great pump
I am planning to spend cheap and just install at bare minimum. Can I just use the pump and ECU or also required to have CCU? I have a 9” Garmin 94sv. Thank you so much
It looks like its been about 9 months since your install! Would you mind taking a moment to comment what (if anything) you would have done different or concidered more closely? I noticed on Garmin install directions the reccomendation of shut off valves to the auto pilot pump on the plumbing. I’m thinking that may be so in the event of a pump failure or leak, you can isolate the pump from the helm and still get back. Curious your thoughts on all that.
So far I had no problems captain it's been working great And I carry some fittings to isolate the pump if there's a leak or failure that I need to isolate it and also I have hydraulic fluid with me all the time so I can do minor repairs if I have to but using the valve it's a great option is just a lot more work That you may never need👍⚓️
@@OutOnTheReef thank you for the feedback back I appreciate it. What type of extra fittings do you carry and any specific tools for it? I am concidering doing the same which is why I ask. I suppose the shut off valve is a quick fix IF something happens, but I ‘believe’ you may need three? Port/Starboard and return line
For the twin engine they recommend the same system but the pump has to be a 2.0 liter pu.p you may want to call garmin to confirm that, that's what I was told
@@OutOnTheReef Thanks, I noticed they recommend their higher-end Reactor 40 models which I assume come with the SmartPump V2. Is that what you have or is it the base model? Please, I like trolling for salmon at about 3 MPH. They are twice the price as well.
Its a shame that all the marine electronics here in the UK are bloody near double what you get them for. I used to fit boats out, in fact I fitted out the RIBs that was in the boat chase at the beginning of the Bond film "Quantum of Solace", I only have an Autohelm 4000 on my boat, dated but works a treat for what I need.
Wow cap. I love that movie That was awesome that you were part of it. And the reason your prices are higher. Scattered with customs, your government is charging a lot for customs entry items fees.
I have an old 1974 boat called an Aquabell, she is 27ft long and has two inboard diesels, only a slow boat as greatly underpowered. She is coming out over the winter and I am doing a outboard conversion to her. I am fitting a Suzuki DF250, will be interesting to see how it ends up with a bracket extension to the transom. I am going to try to document as much as I can. @@OutOnTheReef

you can cut ANY wire and yes they would be color coded for those connectors
