@Jakester call me old but not a fan, turbo sounds like more work and issues, harder to work on it and the screen seems like a distraction till it stops working, then your screwed. Atleast if the 23 craps out you can replace it with an aftermarket unit. 23 has more than enough for me, I'm not racing to work so power is irrelevan.
Just bought one. Had a 2023 ranger XLT so was plusher than the Tacoma. Had to sell it to buy a house and new one was a 100 more a month😂 so I went with Tacoma. I like the v6 non turbo. Ford has not had a great track record with V4 turbos. So I do believe the Toyota will last longer
Anyone that owns the Tacoma 3rd gen you need to get the OTT tune $450 changes the whole truck all the gear hunting issues everyone cries about is totally gone + truck is so much smoother the engine sounds better it's amazing I drive a manual transmission after the tune the transmissions even easier to shift I have no idea why maybe because the engine just runs so darn good & smooth! Doesn't void the warranty if you have issues with your truck being sluggish which you probably should because it's a 🐢💨 this makes it feel so much better ALL THE WAY AROUND! Gain of 20+tq & 15+hp your welcome Tacoma Family

Mine is suppose to be here by the end of April. Same as this one. I'm always doubting my choice now with the Colorado coming out. I really love the reliability and resale value of the Tacoma though. Plus the aftermarket is endless
I just received my ETA for my Tacoma for mid-July 2023. I chose the SR with the 3.5 L V6 and full sized bed. I ordered it back in February. I know it’s a sign of the times, but 5 months for delivery is standard now.
@@aknadiri2520 received my SR in August 2023. If that’s so, somebody must have accidentally slipped another two cylinders in it. Don’t know if it’s a Toyota Canada thing, but it is a baseline SR and it has a V6 3.5 litre engine. I know that models vary from country to country.

Everyone’s got an opinion on the Tacoma - it’s sort of a divided truck. Either it’s loved or it’s hated. I agree that the refresh is needed, and I hope that more power and torque will be added since that’s what the customers want, however I think that Toyota did a good job back in 2015/16 designing this vehicle. It still looks modern enough 7 years later. I have a 2nd gen Tacoma so I’m pretty disconnected to all the conversations and arguments over the 3rd gen. Personally I don’t think anything will ever replace the simplicity of the first two generations and wouldn’t give up my old-school 2nd gen for anything else. I like Toyotas however I also love stuff built by a bunch of other brands. I like older designs, however I know that most people want progress, and they hopefully will get it next year.

Thanks for the review, I love my 3rd gen, they are extremely capable in off road, and also extremely durable and reliable, I have TOO many reservations on the gen 4, for the longevity…anytime you put a small motor, then try to wring n squeeze every ounce of power out of it with a turbo???? No, just ASKING for drivetrain problems..either engine, transmission, or turbo…the weakest link will fail…not a recipe for 3-400,000 trouble free miles..but..it’s Toyota..so..time will be the test..even the gen 4 fit the 1st 5 years, were ironing out the wrinkles…

Got me a TRD Offroad Double Cab Long Bed. However I'm disappointed in the Payload. I thought a longer bed would have a higher Payload than the short bed. If I knew that going in I would have definitely gotten the shorter bed.
Fair assessment. However, if you're just taking loads from point A to point B, the DCLB has no problem carrying 1500lbs, despite what the manufacturer says.
I love my 23 Tacoma Off Road. Yes, the transmission sucks. But it's honestly it's not slow. It's not fast, but not slow. I've owned a Ford Taurus, Dodge Intrepid, Dodge Neon, Mercury Sable, GMC Sonoma, Nissan Versa, Ford Explorer, 3 Corollas, and a Toyota Camry. Only the Camry was SLIGHTLY quicker than my 2023 Tacoma Off Road. Yall, add an exhaust, an intake and a tune and shell be a perfectly serviceable truck.
I’m still for mine. Its been 2months already. As per my dealer last March 10 it was pulled by quality control check. Until now my dealer said he cannot tell when it will be releases. Any idea how long it will take for quality control check? Thanks

@@elche1976 They've been building 50% of Tacomas in Mexico since 2004. The other 50% were made in Texas. Either way, most were made by Mexicans and both plants were overseen by Toyota. Quality has not gone down since all production went to Baja in Mexico. Edit: since I've taken ownership of my Tacoma, it's been a disaster

It can (and does) based on terrain. If it bothers you get a tune. For me personally I don't even notice it any longer. The truck has it's quirks, but for me and the 10's of thousands who buy them yearly the pros far outweigh them.
I have a chance to get exactly what I paid for my 2020 Ranger as a trade to put towards a new Tacoma. Would anyone consider that a good deal? My Ranger is bigger and more powerful but I feel the Tacoma is better quality.

Knew what was coming in 24 and opted for the 23 limited; besides 4wd and a few more features, could not justify the increase for 24. give it a cpl years to work out bugs and 4cl turbo will be fine. the taco, at any level, will outlast any garbage being thrown together by gm or ford. you can ID the old critics when they can only cite rust issues that went away in the 80s.
That Gloomy Grey and Death Black interior has been shoved down everyone’s throats from every automaker since 1990. It Old and Outdated. The ALL NEW 24 models have the same Fugly 1990 interior colors as well. I’m having my Death Black Leather interior changed to TRD red Leather from Katzkin.
Does anyone own a 2017 toyota tacoma? I wanted to get one because they're around the price range I want for a use one. It's just that when I looked up some information that year had 5 recalls with 3 being related to the engine stalling. Like if it's resolved there won't be problems later on right?

After purchasing it (which was way over priced) I kept hearing a popping noise near the front right suspension. I took it to Toyota care and they acted like I was insane for bringing in a brand new tacoma to have checked. They couldn’t replicate the noise at the time of course, so they did nothin. So hopefully it’s just a normal noise. BUT one of the guys stained my headliner pretty good with their greasy hands. So , I empathize and I think Toyota care isn’t all that great.
I had a 19 ridgeline. Trans went at 45k. My wife had a 19 passport with the "new" 9spd. Hers went at 54k. The transmissions are garbage and the timing belt at 100k for $1500 is bullshit, spare me.
The ranger lost me with the tall box and the fan speed buttons. Have that in my fusion and I hate it. The back seat storage and folding was also bad. Felt to car like for me.
True, but prior to the Colorado redesign, pretty much every midsize truck was pretty old and low tech. So reliability plays a large role in the segment.

I understand Toyota has a reputation for reliability but I personally value technology and innovation a bit more. If the bare bones of your vehicle are a decade or so old my thought process is just buy a used one, it's essentially the same.

I had a 19 ridgeline. Trans went at 45k. My wife had a 19 passport with the "new" 9spd. Hers went at 54k. The transmissions are garbage and the timing belt at 100k for $1500 is bullshit, spare me.

I did a plug and play ecu tune for my Tacoma and now it has 307 hp and 293 lb ft of torque on 87 octane
The ranger lost me with the tall box and the fan speed buttons. Have that in my fusion and I hate it. The back seat storage and folding was also bad. Felt to car like for me.
Tacoma is overrated and over priced. Maybe the next gen will be better but this current gen is dead last in the competition.
The 2023 colorado z71 was priced at 55k (can$) 23 pro4x 55k. Trd I bought was 50k. I don't know about over priced.

True, but prior to the Colorado redesign, pretty much every midsize truck was pretty old and low tech. So reliability plays a large role in the segment.
@@theshowmaster3836 It's subjective and I know it may be an unpopular opinion but I like the redesigned GM twins and the gladiator a bit more. I understand Toyota has a reputation for reliability but I personally value technology and innovation a bit more. If the bare bones of your vehicle are a decade or so old my thought process is just buy a used one, it's essentially the same.

When I purchase something as expensive as a vehicle I want it to be as balanced as possible. Decent reliability, modern tech, modern design, etc. Toyota slays it with hybrid tech and reliability but I just can't justify buying a Tacoma or 4runner with their current age.
