As a potential Tacoma buyer that was a fantastic review of the truck's features. Toyota should be paying you. Well done.

For the folding seats, once you lift the seat, you can remove the headrest and insert it on the piece that you lifted. This will allow you to lower the entire back and use it as a cargo space.

      @engineeringgarage5113 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you for this! I didn't know there was a place for the head rest. Bless Toyota engineers.

Also in the rear, there are pockets to store the seatbelt buckles neat and out of site. They keep gravity from dropping them below the seat when you lift it. There are also plastic clips on each side of the seat back that hold the other half of the seatbelt from bouncing around from wind when the windows are down, cutting down on noise.
edit: A couple more rear seat Easter eggs. On the seat bottom when you lift them, there's two holes. You can store the headrests there after removing them from the seatbacks when keeping the seats down in the flat storage mode. There's a threaded hole between the two headrest storage holes. You can add the seat bottom pull that the earlier Tacos came with. Pretty easy to make a diy strap, or order the Toyota one. And last, the two outer headrests can be dropped 90° to give you better visibility out the rear window.

You can also tilt the rear headrests forward to allow for better visibility. Just raise them a bit and then pull towards the front seat.

I love the Tacoma. it's the most reliable, most useful, and lowest maintenance vehicle I have ever owned and I've had several dozen and driven hundreds of others. I m just about to get my second SR crew cab.. I don't need or want the costly upgrades that add weight and complexity. I went 109,000 miles on my first, and NO brake job, 3 sets of tires, oil changes, and nothing else except transmission fluid change at 90,000 miles. that was a 2018. next one is a red 2022 SR. here in VA they are all over, very common, used daily for work. I go on many gravel roads, fields, hills, mud, and we do get snow also I got 86 percent of my purchase price after 4 and a half years .. amazing.. so I just got another one.. basically it cost me only 1,000 dollars per year for using it, plus tires and oil as mentioned..

2:21 Remote Start after market key fob. How to disable Engine stay "ON" after you open the driver door.
It maybe similar to other models and it may or may not work but it don't hurt to try. I just picked up a 2020 Taco TRD Sport and before I left the dealers lot I was given a small 1hr tutorial of all the features my Taco came with. Not sure if this is standard with all Toyota Dealerships to give a 1hr class on how to use all the features, I just thought it was cool of them to spend an extra time explaining the features to me within an hour. In my opinion, I just wanted to go home after spending almost 5hrs buying the truck.
Anyways back to topic, now in order to work you must first test both key fob of all functions. You would need to separate the key at least 50ft from each other before beginning. Just remember you will need to perform each test separately and repeat for each fob. It works best placing in house farthest away and in an area the will prevent fob from being used while performing the steps. When you are done you will need to repeat steps again from start to finish but with both keys near each other. This could be inside a pocket front or back. It could be in a shirt pocket, pant, bag or purse. Just remember the 2nd key button must not be touched while performing this step. So when you have one key in pocket and other in hand you will want to be at least one arm length from driver door for each process. Each step must be performed within 5-10 seconds. You also need to make sure all doors, hood, and tailgate are locked before you begin. After performing the steps you will also have to perform the steps again but this time wit all doors, hood,, tailgate and windows opened. After performing you can not use vehicle for at least 1 hour to enter system memory moad and computer remember the training mode.
I know this is alot and belive me it is. It was for me at first when I was given the 1hr course after purchasing my Taco. Im very well excited and now a proud owner of on. Anyways, I just wanted to take some of your time to let you know the Taco you own is a kick ass truck..It's also time consuming just to read this and not get any real useful information because as you can see I don't really know what im talking about but it all sounded like something useful. 🤘

    • @MartyMotoring

That can't be right or is a design flaw, because many vehciles with remote start don't shut off. You can get in and take off as long as the key fob is detected. Even my 1996 Impreza I had in college let me do that with an aftermarket remote system lol. Has to be a safety thing.

I have to point out the elephant in the room you called this a third gen taco it Is technically a 5th gen taco 95 and a half to 96 was the first.than 97 to 2000 was the second. than there was 01-04 third. Forth was 05-15 . and now we are in the last year of the fifth gen . headed into a major computerized sixth gen overpriced taco market making great strides in its suspension .i also see so many things that could go wrong making a overpriced truck into a potential Abomination. i like the older ones the best they were simple and for less than 1000 dollars you can many technology upgrades in the cab and backup camera too i love tacos because they were simple. With cheep rent at 2500 mo and food doubled in the last year i dont want a 1000 dollar payment without insurance. No thanks old is the way for me.

For anyone wondering about the unlock settings ,they aren't very intuitive I spent like 20 minutes fiddling with it but:
Remote 2-press unlock ON - 1 press unlocks drivers door only, 2 press unlocks all doors
Remote 2-press unlock OFF - 1 press unlocks all doors
"Select doors to unlock" - this was the confusing part, this ONLY seems to affect keyless entry and has nothing to do with the remote.
I decided to keep 2-press unlock off, and "select doors to unlock" to only the drivers door. That way I can still get all doors unlocked with 1 button press, but If I'm in an area where things feel sketchy I can grab the handle with keyless entry and don't have to worry about someone being able to get into one of the other doors.

Thank you, this was one of the better vehicle overviews here on YT. Lots of info without any annoying stuff. I have a 17 TRD, nice to see the changes.

@@chazzthaspazz4475 It is the first Toyota I've ever owned. I found it to be 100% trouble free. It has proven to easily be the BEST vehicle I've ever had. Don't get me wrong there's a ton of things I don't like about it, but they're all little nickel & dime things.

I actually didn’t know the old school cruise control method. I was wondering if I was able to do that again, although I will admit the new to me feature is nice in the morning when there’s not as many cars on the highway. But after work, there’s way too much traffic for it to help on fuel economy. Interesting, thanks for all the info man.

Great vid, my Canadian 2022 TRD Sport has a few different features but 90% the same as yours. I see your rear seat belt latches were laying out, if you didn't know there are actually little pockets for them built into the seats on the lower corner of the back of the seat right where they poke out normally. ✌️

Damn! I’ve had my 2021 for a year and I didn’t know you could override the f_cking radar cruise control and go old school! Thanks so much you just made my day!

Thank you for showing us about the remote vehicle start (3 x on lock button and then hold lock). I had been using the Toyota app to remote start. That is great for the 1st year, FREE service but I don't know if it's worth renewing.

Helpful Video. Just purchased a 2021 Tacoma TRD Off Road and I'm surprised at the amount of room sitting in the drivers seat. I'm 6'6" and have had a hard time finding a Midsize truck that I can actually fit in. The only gripe I would have is the steering wheel. Wished it would raise up at least 2 or 3 inches more upwards. As you almost have to squeeze your right leg when getting in. But once you're in it's great.

Anyone have a 2017 TRD OR? Have you experienced any of the major flaws the internet claims to stay away from with the 2016 & 17? Thanks

Truck looks great! Getting a 2023 in white, 2023 OR because of chip shortage does not come with tech package BSM and sonar cross traffic, do you find yourself using those options often? I’m debating holding out for 2024 or grabbing a 2022 for those features.

just got my 23, it comes with those features, you just need the advance tech package. the dealer calls it OR premium package.

I guess people just don't like the manuals they give you with the truck first day I pick it up I go thrue every chapter in the book then the next day everything I read about I check just to see if it's as cool as what I read about I'm usually find that the thing I thought was cool in black and white is even better when you get to play around with the things

I don't like the sticker on your back window that degrades my beloved U.S. flag by mixing it with a Canadian flag. Bad etiquette and against U.S. Statutes. Have some respect please.

After you remote start it what happens if you press unlock on the fob before trying to open the door? Does that turn it off as well?
