    I love it. I wish I had the commitment to do things like this to my street car. I guessed 8 Kg, almost 10 was a bit surprising, especially considering how flimsy the steel roof looked. Thanks for taking the time to weigh it.

    2.8 kg down from 9.8? bang on 7kg lost right from the top of the car! centre of gravity will really thank you for this one! - it also looks really nice too, thats a good one!

    BEFORE: 13 kilos you mad max!
    AFTER: I was going to guess 10 kilos but your expression when you removed it pushed my guess higher!
    Roof looks terrific, I didn't think that the reinforcement and your logo would "print" through to the exterior surface. Neat effect. Really enjoy your videos as you seem to be having a lot of fun.

      @@RuskiWeldFab I have been buying from Easy Composites for years but my last order I switched due to Brexit dude. Everything from composite supplies to car parts I've ordered this year from the UK took an average 5 weeks to get to me in Germany. Sadly I can't wait for everything that long :/ Either way, this is great and I'm gonna start forging plans! Thank you!

    Nice work, i gonna make one with forged carbon. I'll use steel framed box i made for my hoody, after vacuuming i use compressed air instead of using two way mold bolted. Bam, cheap forged carbon lmao....

      @@RuskiWeldFab -- If i decide to go through with it, I will be doing it the same method as you - manually laying out the fibers and creating the molds from fiberglass also. Most others I see, are using the vacuum bag thing... I dont have acess to it. Any advice for me?

    Oooh maaan... Amazing job. Nice looking roof. But why are the nerves visible? Did the vacuum suck the kevlar up? Would they disappear if you put more sheets of carbon between the cores?

      yeah more layers will make it disappear. but thats extra weight. for the roofs that i make for customers i actually sand down the edges of foam to make it much less visible.

    You can always sand it and matt polish it later, it does look a bit shiny, but absolutely fu€kin amazing work

      I made a huge booboo with regards to clear coat 🤦🏻. Was meant to be Matt. But turned out to be satin. I like it tho! No sanding required

    Hi, old vid but I noticed also at the other roof you did.
    Why do you add that core material? That has no structural function, does it?
    All it does in my understanding, is not let the layers adhere to each other - which is bad in my pov...
    But maybe I am missing smth so why do you do this?

    My guess was 11kg. That's a great weight saving, and from high up on the car. Will have a decent effect on lowering the centre of gravity!

    what is your reasoning for using Kevlar and carbon rather then 2 layers of Carbon ? im starting to do my roof too and just came across your method.

      well mainly for the looks. tired of carbon. everyone has it. so tried kevlar. they both have very similar properties.

    Is your layup 650gsm total?

      hard to put exact price but around 300-350£ (excluding the mould). what car you want to do this for?

Я щя хочу начять с skateboards, longboards используя вакуумную технологию. потому что у меня осталось 400 - 500 квадратов цветного carbon - Kevlar ткани ир её как то надо определить. А ты в какой стране прожеваешь?

    hi i know alot of guys that watch this channel are car guys! is anyoine familiar with audi. i was replacing the fuel filter today and some brown gunk poured out from the lines! once i saw the oil mixed with fuel coming out from the fuel line.. i let it pour out for another 10 seconds and it was all clear fuel. why would there be oil in the lines? high pressure fuel pump faulty? the car runs absolutely fine. i did issues prior to this. pcv valve damaged and some fuel sensors with code p310b

      Yes most likely cam follower worn through. This can push oil in to fuel pump

    Please leave the kevlar weave exposed and don't paint it. Load it up with clear coat, block it flat, cut and polish.

    after losing 7kg on the roof what is the difference in handling?

      It’s impossible to measure as I never just do 1 thing and test. But you know it’s beneficial as any weight lost from the top is a good thing

    fuck...... nearly 10kg, i was well off at 6kg.... amazing to take 7kg off the roof!!!! thatll being the centre of gravity down somewhat.
