It had to be in Armor Core 6 on the ice worm mission for the first time when Rusty shoots the rail cannon, and all the sound starts to cut out for the perfect shot. Gives me chills playing that mission!
Glad to see Ghostrunner 2 getting some well-deserved recognition. It is one of the best games of 2023 and one of my top 3 games of the year. Speaking of which, the first Ghostrunner is available for free on Epic right now. Can't recommend it enough.
A few moments from my gaming year. Realizing that Tears of the Kingdom had three maps, not just one, to explore. And in Octopath Traveler 2, the final act where you face the final boss. In the second phase of the fight, you battle the boss with all eight travelers, and it is just the coolest feeling ever.
That AW2 level was pretty good, but there is another crazy scene late in the game with the Old Gods of Asgard playing a live show while you fight that I think tops it. While playing it, I was literally thinking how I've never played anything quite like this and how freaking awesome it is.
Fighting Titan made me go "damn this is cool" but fighting Bahamut really made me go "Holy Shit this game is awesome!" Lol the pure spectacle of going into the upper atmosphere to fight was just hella crazy lol
The betray songbird quests are awesome in phantom liberty. You first start by shooting your way through Kurt’s forces and even killing him, then you have to hide from a spider robot in order to find her memories. I love the story and if tga had a best dlc this would take the award
For the Alan Wake 2 point... "why the F is this happening?" Is exactly what I thought when the rock opera started. I was so confused but also very amused.
@TheFreshSoundsFlorida it definitely does. It's still fun, but I'd agree if you said it doesn't really belong in the game. Tbh I do have a lot of complaints about Alan Wake 2, but I still love it for what it is. It SHOULD have been better but it's still a good game.
It’s there because it was Alan’s idea of reminding himself who he was since he’s been stuck in The Dark Place for so long that he was forgetting himself. It’s also a reflection of his inflated ego and how it got him there in the first place.
The whole Alan Wake 2 was f*cking awesome (especially with the NG+), I can't wait to play the DLCs ❤. But Star Wars was awesome too, I also liked that game. Happy new year to everyone 🙂. I hope we will get great games in 2024 too.
The venom mechanic should be the next big thing. It would be quite fun in games to control the bosses in a scene before a boss battle. Not only would it give you ideas how to fight them, but if done right make them all the more intimidating too.
Horizon's Horus fight is the one thing that gave me the spark I needed to run mega huge monsters in my D&D game. Before, I was always hesitant to bring in truly enormous titanic enemies for my higher leveled games, because even though you have a legendary sword that's not going to do squat against Godzilla if his outer carapace is like 100 feet thick, but that fight scene gave me the ideas I needed. Instead of the giant beast squaring up against the players, it is wading through the set piece, each time its turn comes around the entire battlefield changes, every one of its titanic steps are sending shockwaves across the land, opening ravines and fissures in the ground itself, and the player characters will have to keep pace somehow. Instead of hacking numbly at the beast's stone-like skin, the player characters are rolling to hit weak spots in the creature's skin, sites of old wounds, ancient weaponry stuck in its carapace from a long forgotten era, the gaps between its armor plates where its titanic blood vessels carry the nutrients to repair its body. Eventually, the characters must find a way inside the monster, where instead of facing the monster as a whole they are facing the monster's immune system, the parasites or symbiotic organisms that live within the beast, that seeks to either block the characters' way or are just seizing an opportunity. The more time the characters takes fighting off the immune system, the more defenders the immune system sends, until eventually the trillions of immune cells would overwhelm them, so they must work fast, killing just the ones in their way and making their way deeper into the creature's system, until they can take out the creature's core, or cores, such as its heart's pace-making nerve bundle, its brainstem's connection to the spine, the central part of its brain that regulates all muscle movements, and so on. Of course, the insides of the creature itself is an alien and hostile environment, with blood rushing with the force of a tsunami, and body temperature soaring to such a degree that even stone starts to melt. I ran this game with my most experienced player group using their level 18-20 characters, and four out of seven died by the end, though they did slay the beast, and they tell me that it's one of the best high-level games they've played. Oh yeah and for context, the monster in question measured 3 miles from nose to tail, and stood nearly 1000 feet at the shoulders, so not anything that's normally found in D&D games.
Lizzy wizzy's performance in cyberpunk phantom liberty definitely deserves a place. I mean it's not a holy crap moment but definitely a WOW moment to me. Great video thanks and happy new year 🎊❤
Building size? There are structures in the first part of the Titan fight that show Ifrit is building sized. Titan Lost is basically fighting a mountain. Great video!
Surprises not to see GoW Valhalla on here. The moment the old school enemies came in and when you got the Blade of Olympus blew my mind. Hopefully it's a sign a a trilogy remake
DAMN there were some great moments scattered about. Wasn’t a huge fan of the game the first run but damn the finale of the 2nd and entire 3rd were great. Teaming up with Rusty and the reveal of Iguazu were so good! The Iguazu thing had me thinking really hard. Because right before the reveal we can learn there’s one other mystery pilot AND someone told Iguazu where to find and ambush you during Snail fight. I figured out that ONLY Ayre and Allmind would know at that point, so I kinda guessed it would be Allmind. That being said, the final fight caught me off guard. Really fun fight too. I love how his mech is strong as hell but not really piloted that well. Like in the final phase he’s gonna annihilate your health but he’s kinda easy to evade. Made it seem like the last ditch efforts of a guy that’s going down. Whole 3rd run was really smartly done.
I would have personally chosen Cals darkside segment over the mech fight. Seeing him embrace it then go nuts and slaughter all those troopers was crazy
Man I tell you, Falcon and Gameranx are my intro to games I may likely have never given a glance to. Ironically, those titles I've tried may be deemed old in "year" standards, but are new to me in terms of introduction.
I would add the first time you turn from a HUMAN to a GOD in Asgard’s Wrath II on Quest 3. The perspective shifts so radically from the first person ground level to a God looking over the entire level, it’s incredible. And I love how you can still see your human form so tiny down below. It’s impressive use of VR in the best way.
It’d be cool to see you guys do a video similar to this on epic music moments (if haven’t done already). Like that climb in Returnal to get to that boss playing the organ as the music slowly gets louder ad more intense is just 🔥
Damn it was a good year, Robocop was the surprise hit for me,FF16 was a return to form/status for Square and solid Indy hits (sea of stars) and new classics (Mario wonders), not even mentioning awesome stuff I didn’t have the time for (Zelda TotK/Baldurs Gate)… what a year.
For me, this year nothing beats when you finally fight Raphael in Baldurs Gate 3 when you heist his mansion in Hell. He suddenly starts singing DURING his own boss battle like a god damn Disney villain and it's glorious. It's also great that it's an actual hard fight at a point in the game when you are high level and can usually just brute force most things
Getting rid of your troops to replace them with demons and cultists or just only to resurrect them as eternally loyal, undead soldiers as a demon/lich respectively in WotR.
Happy New Year 🎆 to Falcon and Jake!! Thank you to all the Gameranx staff for another year of great entertainment and news in the great world of video games.
I really like the mortal Kombat 1 twist of Kuai Liang being Scorpion like seriously loved it Kuai and scorpion were my 2 favorite characters so them being one and the same blew my mind
One thing they could’ve done in Spider Man 2 is the good and Bad ending like they did in Web Of Shadows, plus you get to pick which character to play as like in Transformers FoC
i just wanna say, props to falcon for going to the effort of figuring out exactly what type of vehicle it is in #7. star wars fans appreciate this immensly
Final Fantasy 16 made my jaw drop at that reveal of that boss, it was literally attack on titan!! Most fun I had playing that game, it was wild seeing Hugo basically eat senzu beans and gain more power like a freaking Colossal Titan!
@@breensprout same here, I could write an essay on all the things they did wrong, SE never learning from their mistakes with 15, the bosses were the best parts of this game, but they worked backwards from there, thinking of the story and character development last :(
I’ve gotta had it to Remedy they went so absurdly over the top with Alan Wake II and I’m all for it. Herald of Darkness would be out of place anywhere else, but perfectly fits in a Remedy game.
Same, when you get transported there, and check the map and it's all greyed out, and you're like "where the hell am I?" and then you zoom out and realize how far you are from where you were. Excellent game design. Really made you put in the effort to unlock the rest of the map and explore.
Man, i hadn't heard Alloy's voice in a long time. Forgot there even was any DLC for a Horizon game. After im done with Hogwarts, this is high on the list. I loved Dawn and West.
Thank you for acknowledging the Horus. It was truly amazing. Honorable mention to GoWR Valhalla when Kratos conjures the Blade of Olympus. Truly hype shit. I was like "lets gooooooo!!" when I got to control Venom.
For titan lost, what makes it so amazing is the build up before the Eikon battle. It was two men who hate each other's guts beating the shit out of each other it was testosterone filled and I love it
I haven't played Robo cop but it must have done a very good job that a mission with only shooting and killing is very amazing. Any other game with just mindless killing would get criticized badly.

The bank heist makes me chuckle quite a bit actually. Like just imagine if the cops hadn't shown up and they got away with the cash, but then because there's so many of them after the split they each get like 2500$ or something ridiculous :P
I would definitely include the Light Dragon in TOTK, once I finished that questline and realized the insane scope of time that had passed after the decision, I just almost felt sick.....like, just fuckin traumatized for a minute, lmao
If I had to choose one, i would pick either the intro to Tears of the Kingdom, when Ganondorf took all your hearts and stamina away, or going to the Depths for the first time.
I want to wish all my fellow gamers and the entire Gameranx crew the happiest New Year. Best wishes to you all, my friends 🍻

Same to you! Wishing you and all the very best year ever. Cheers

Happy New years to you too my friend!!!! 🎉
My biggest “Holy Sh-t” Moment in gaming this year was realizing you can’t fly to a planet in starfield
Holy shit, so many loading screens
You can. It just takes hours
I feel bad for players who bought it and then sadly got in their ship and realized you can't take off.
That has to suck. Getting pumped to just immerse yourself in space and just flying and you can even properly explore like you want. Hopefully we get a single player game like NMS with a story and RPG mechanics
Even Chorus (2021) does a better job with space combat and exploration.

Titan was actually my least favorite fight in the game. But the random of shit were dealing with Bahumat moment was fantastic.
In Jedi Survivor, the boss fight with Cere made my jaw DROP.
Finding out that “The Ghost of Iki” was Kenji all along really blew my mind and had me burst out laughing
That bastard kenji
Alan Wake 2's musical section was the best gaming moment in like a decade for me. man i was smiling from ear to ear for the rest of the evening :D
I agtee man. Most memorable gaming moment in the last decade
👍🏼
Meh, so many in BG3 were better in every way. Fight scene with score in house of hope boss fight blows it away.
