Here before someone inevitably comes in and says "uh Baldur's Gate 3 is a million times better than Witcher 3 guys and Witcher 3 is hot garbage" because of how the Internet loves trashing one game to praise another
I only just recently played Witcher 3 it was very good but not as insane as I thought it would be. But then again I never hit that point where I got so sucked in that I ended up googling builds at work instead of actually working like I did with dark souls 3. Still a super cool game to be able to play on steam deck tho
Watching my kids play Stardew together for hours at a time, hearing the peaceful music playing in the air,and seeing their pure enjoyment made me one of the happiest gamer dads in the world. It will always have a special place in my heart.
@@grocksauce7422don’t give up dad ! You probably just haven’t found the right one for them, I believe there is a game for everyone out there 😅 hang tight it took me solid years to get mine into games at all 😂
@@grocksauce7422 wish you guys were my parents. I didnt even get to do fun things children do in my childhood. now I'm 15 and don't know how to ride a bike, climb a tree, swim. and there's alot that I missed out on. Now they're complaining why I'm not like the other kids playing sports, driving motorcycles and other fun stuff. They also like to compare me to other kids which is extremely pointless. But they do like how I already know how to generate profit for my self and put it to good use. Sometimes I don't spend it at all and just give them for charity.
@@grocksauce7422 lol. My daughters are 3 and 5. I've tried getting my eldest to play random games I've got on my Xbox. And she likes them but is kinda "meh" about it still. I think I need to get a Wii U
Would definitely love to see more videos like this. I think we focus too much on games that disappoint us that we don't give enough recognition to the ones that spoil us. Love this video and love the work you guys do at Gameranx!
Vanilla Skyrim on 360 is one of my favorite games, the experience of wandering through that world for the first time is an experience that has rarely been met
I remember it coming out and literally all the dudes in my grade (small school) got together because one of us got Skyrim pre-ordered. So we spent the entire week at his house going to school and coming back to his place to play. Each of us ‘claiming’ weapons we saw in the loading screens and just amazed at the graphics. Freaking out over the beginning. Great memories.
@@AspieMemoires I had a similar experience except it was just me and another friend over a weekend. I bought Skyrim for the 360 and he bought the guide for the game and we called it, "The Book of Skyrim" and we just watched each other play all weekend. Only stopping to sleep and eat.
Sometimes I wish someone would just erase my memory of playing RDR2 so that I can play it "again" and be mesmerized like the first time. This happened with me only once when I had played Prince of Persia Warrior Within in 2004.
Stardew is a truly magical game in my mind. One of my favorite memories was playing Stardew on an IPad for the entirety of an 9 hour flight from London to Philly. My partner and I passed it back forth, each completing a day while the other watched. I could have stayed in that moment for a lifetime.
I've never commented on a TH-cam video before, but this comment I feel is very deserving of one. Stardew Valley is a game that anyone at any age can play. I actually visualized myself on a plane with my wife just passing the game back and forth. Such an amazing game.
Stardew is just a gem of a game. My girlfriend isn’t a gamer, but I got her hooked on Stardew on my Switch. She played it handheld primarily. It got to a point where she was playing my Switch every day lol. So I bought her an OLED. She’s been trying to 100% the game for months, long surpassing how far I’ve gotten. It is shocking how much the game has to offer for $15.
Man hollow knight is so good. I'm glad I gave this game a chance, it's one of the most memorable gaming experiences I had and I played A LOT of games. Everything about it is great: characters, story, atmosphere, bosses, combat, soundtrack. It's one of the only games that actually made me want to buy a replica of the main protagonist and keep it for me and my kid.
@@mav2553 Yes, without a doubt imo. I mean don't get me wrong, Ori is a fantastically beautiful game but Hollow Knight is a whole different level of scale in gameplay, world-building and atmosphere.
I love BG3, it's easily one of the best rpgs in the past decade. I'm not even a huge turn-based combat fan, but I love the freedom they managed to give you even with that style.
@@toadintheh0lethe lore is just the classic all the way from the 80’s Dungeons and Dragons setting. I don’t see why you wouldn’t like it unless you just don’t like ANY fantasy, then I get it, but otherwise I don’t understand where your coming from.
@@toadintheh0le that’s fair. Maybe try Wasteland 3 then! It’s from the original creators of Fallout(not bethesda). And is set up in a post-apocalyptic setting with similar levels of character creation and choice with consequences and different skills ect. It’s really fun if you ask me! Not the same level as BG3 but at this point idk what is.

If you’re making another list, I’d add games that gave us detailed difficulty options. Control was the first game I played that allowed us to fine tune difficulty. Another reason that game was amazing.
Dunno if you ever used the 1 shot kills option but on my second playthrough I decided to use it for a fun I was quite surprised when the platinum trophy popped 😎
I felt spoiled with Super Smash Bros Ultimate. All that DLC and those stages. It was a pretty legendary moment in gaming history to see Banjo Kazooie pop up as a fighter.
Another reason PT was so good for being so short above other horror games is that. It didnt need to dim the lighting of game down or be abnoxiously loud to scare you. Its genuinely annoying that some games think by making it so i have to squink or can barely see or by throwing a loud noise in my ears that im going to get scared. PT was able to do it through atmosphere and set ups alone.
P.T. contributed to pushing indie developers in the last 10 years to provide us with some of the scariest psychological horror games out there. It feels like the fact that it never came out makes it even more interesting and influential.
I think that if pt hadn’t been released, capcom wouldn’t have switched up the formula and gave us resident 7/8. Granted they changed up the pace of the games, and weren’t as genuinely terrifying, they were some of my favorite games in the whole series
Ghost Of Tsushima would’ve been a good one to mention. The game was very complete at launch and just beautiful with some of the most satisfying sword combat. They also gave us an entire multiplayer expansion that they continuously added onto, all for free.
@@ep. yes it is. It definitely has some issues, it has a lot of “cookie cutter” open world stuff. But the navigation mechanics they came up with are awesome. Instead of constantly looking at a mini map, you follow the wind. The wind guides you toward your objective. It makes the game so immersive. And the art design is just incredible, it’s like playing inside of a japanese painting.
You only talk about "The Open World" detail of Red Dead Redemption 2, but not only the environment of RDR2 is a masterpiece, but the story too. Arthur's Story with High Honor and Sister Calderon encounters are something beyond a simple "open wold" game. Is something that make this game a really emotional masterpiece. It's really another level, something that is unexpected for a Rockstar. Only GTA IV was something similar on the emotional theme.
If the DID talk about all of the good stuff in that game we’d be here all day! Gotta shrink it down so it’s not a multi hour video about all the games on this list.
I still can't understand why RDR2 never had any DLC that added to the game. They could have added a new town or some new houses to rob or some new bounty missions. They had that entire SW part of the map that was basically unused. There was so much they could do in terms of DLC and they would make a billion dollars.
Honestly even if they just put the online content (horses, clothes, maybe even roles somehow) into story mode I would pay for that, and I would play another several months. I tried getting into online mode after finishing story mode but in addition to the constant grifting, my character just feels hollow compared to Arthur or John. Also the useless night/day cycle (shops are always open) and inability to sleep is killing the vibe in online for me.
For me I was spoiled by dragons dogma's sorcerer. No game has ever mamaged to make magic users feel like a force of nature that can wipe out an entire battlefield with a single spell. The tornado spell specifically is so weighty and just destroys everything.
Just picked this game back up for my forth play through and installed a mod called Max Greatsword. It turns the Warrior class into a beast adding new combos and devastating skills. A little bit OP until Bitter Black isle but also playing the game on hard mode can help balance it out.
Remember the first time you had another Sorcerer that had a top tier spell and they ran up and joined your casting… with your process? Or the chaos of going Pure Sorc for you and your pawn, plus the 2 hires, and casting grand Bolid/Glidel/maelstrom/Earthquake? The 16 meteors, or 30 seconds of 4 tornados, or the entire field turning into a spiky trampoline under your foes feet. So much power. Or just using grapnel to hold a cyclops in a Deth Orb… because how awesome is watching an enemy just fall down dead.
This. But with Kingdom of Amalur instead. I never played a mage before that game and have been seeking the power that that game made me feel ever since.
yeah i played infinite first then 1 then 2 and the first game had the best setting and environment. It felt like a horror game and claustrophobic sometimes and i loved it
Bioshock was the best impulse buy I ever made in gaming. 2 and Infinite came home as Collector’s editions. I practically threw my money at them for the remaster. Burial at Sea Part 2 was such an epic backhanded slap that I felt that sting for days. Nothing has ever quite gotten me in such a satisfying way before. I think that going into that experience blind had a lot to do with it.
@@aurorafinai was so hyped for bioshock. And it delivered and them some. That is a game I would I love to see a Resident evil remake. Bring it back with current level graphics and updates gameplay (the shooting in the first wasn’t the best and shooting and using powers simultaneously, was improved with sequels). The icing on the cake would be if they could incorporate the teleportation plasmid in the original trailer that Ken Levine couldn’t ultimately make work because it broke the game (people teleporting past trigger points etc). I think a true remake, like RE4, where they keep the essence of the game but update it would be welcomed by fans.
In red dead redemption two, the Horse actually swaps it’s lead to the direction that you’re riding. So if you’re riding and doing a right turn, the horse will be on the right lead and if you turn left a horse with Swap to the left lead. As a horse rider who ride show jumpers, this little detail makes the game so much fun along with getting your horse to jump The fences
Whoever does the music track choices at Gameranx is a PHENOM! Been enthralled by the tracks you guys play, as if the content wasn't my lazyboy couch already.
Man, Stardew Valley will always have a special place in my heart. It's the one game that got me out of gaming piracy. I loved the game so much I just KNEW I had to support the developer.
Honestly, I never thought twice about loading in Jak and Daxter. It was my first console game ever and it became one of my all-time favorites. Looking back, it really was a technical marvel. They introduced "loading" screens in Jak 2 and 3 but it was probably the first instance I've seen of hidden loading. Whenever you went to a new area, you had to go through a door that would take a certain amount of time base on how long it took to load the area behind it. I didn't even notice, I just thought the door was a little rusty lol
Stardew Valley 😍 I love that game, and it's nice to see that it gets some well deserved credit... Eric has done an amazing job and there were so many free updates, each with tons of new stuff 👍🏼
The most unnerving thing about PT, is that the devs made it so the "ghost" or whatever it is haunting the area is ALWAYS right behind you. Once you pick up the flashlight, the ghost is "tethered" to you from behind like a creepy backpack. When you turn around, she won't be there, because she is still tethered to your back. This means all those times you heard some small sound behind you, or saw a flicker of a reflection on the walls and turned around and saw NOTHING, attributing it to your mind playing tricks on you, or the suspense of the game, or even scripted jump scares.....it was her the whole time. Still behind you. Google it. It's creepy as hell.
I really hope Baldur's Gate 3 paves the way for more big-budget + big-production CRPGs given how much people are loving it. While we do get a decent number of smaller-budget CRPG titles from year to year (which are often great too), the big budget ones are fewer for sure. I think if the CRPG fan community was a bit bigger, we'd get a lot more big production games in the subgenre, and BG3 has certainly drawn in a bigger crowd than usual. SteamDB says that the peak concurrent players for BG3 was 800K so far, whereas Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous only ever peaked at 50K, and in my opinion, that game theoretically deserves JUST as much attention as BG3 given its quality. Even Pillars of Eternity and Divinity OS2 have peaks of < 100K, so BG3 might be CRPGs' time to shine!
Gameranx is hands down best gaming channel this guy literally talked about jaks, which i just recently picked up again just for sake of good old times but surprisingly still enjoyed it and i understand why its on the list
Honestly skyrim and fable 1 hold extremely special places in my heart. Fable started the journey when I was young, and skyrim did it through my late teenage years.
I used to never play games like those until they hit gamepass and I’m glad I finally gave them a try. Skyrim and Fable are definitely some of my most favorite games now
No witcher 3? That is one RPG which spoiled me with incredible side content and music. Every single content had a depth to it. Literally set my RPG gaming expectations to a high bar since then
I agree with a lot of what you say. If you can, it would be amazing to see more content like this. Hopefully, there is a shift in buying power to reward these types of games and business practices. Punishing the wallets of the companies that take advantage of us seems to be the only way they will change. So much of this is common sense. I'm so upset with the majority of games nowadays 😢
Loved the video! Little Big Planet spoiled us big time! The endless level designing, very cool mechanics, tons of content and the best gaming community!
@@kriskater I was shocked at how short 3 was! I introduced my husband to the series with it since he had a PS4 and was really disappointed by how easy and short it was. Bought a PS3 just to go back to LBP 1 and haven't completed it yet because it is not easy, haha! I don't know how my sister and I got through most of (I don't think we got the chance to complete it) it as kids. It's so, so fun and creative though, and I can't think of another game that has really hit the same notes for me.
Monster Hunter World and Rise. They gave us layered armor and weapons so could be monsters with stuffed animals while looking buff as can be, the best looking food you scarf down in seconds, thow bombs down on a monster like a little bomber plain for a moment, and released multiple titles updateds for free along with smaller event quest with more new stuff. World would also change up the multi player hub with different events like a massive party.
It's such a shame that we don't have a new Jak and Daxter game. I mean I love the Uncharted series but I would pay full price up front for a Jak and Daxter sequel game brought to the modern era of gaming. Heck even a remastered collection might bring me to pull out my wallet. At least Ratchet and Clank is great, but they have a lot of loading screens though...
Baldur’s Gate 3 has spoiled everyone so much it caused massive disruption in the industry…without even trying to. Plus, it is clearly a labor of love that will be talked about for the next 3 decades.
All that freedom for creativity ... but for what? There is no reward for it, rather than some players feeling a sense of accomplishment. I played 250 hours of the game, completed almost 2 thirds of the world maps (sky, hyrule, depths), and now I do not have the desire to keep playing it. The devs turned an amazing adventure game franchise into a huge sandbox with shallow things to do in it.
@@georgepescod3676I mean after 250 hours of doing basically everything you wouldn’t feel the need to keep playing it…wtf this comment is absolutely r**arded
I have a suggestion for a video: The coolest ways to die in video game. My inspiration for this suggestion: Dying by turning into gold when stepping on Midas' hand in Tomb Raider 1.
Being 59 and played videogames since Pong arcade machine , I’ve had a bunch of WOW’s through the years. 1983 we got Star wars on arcade. That was beyond our fantasies. Dungeon master comes to mind late 80’s. Driver for PsOne gave a grown man reason to play with cars again. Storming Omaha beach 2002 in MoH - allied assault was a adrenaline kick like never before. The latest ones for me have been Oblivion , RDR2 , Witcher3 and Kingdom come - Deliverance. But now I’ll have to try a couple of ones from your list. Thx 4 tip.
yep. It's infuriating how he didn't even mention it. The game itself was great too. Breakthrough cinematics, masterpiece of a soundtrack, surprisingly polished on release. I played the original 1.0 version for a long time, and the game never crashed and I never experienced game-breaking bugs.
Easily best game I have ever played, nothing else comes close, maybe Resident Evil 2, but that is a bit short content wise. Probelm with such games it spoils all other games for you, kinda like moving from an office mouse to a gaming mouse, after you try the gaming mouse with the superior sensor it's hard to go back to regular office mice. It's made it hard to enjoy other games, I mostly end up reinstalling it and playing it again, I have beat it like 7 times this year alone.
Another game that I think really paved the way for free costume changed was Batman Arkham Asylum and City. You could unlock a ton of outfits and it was awesome! Who didn't get excited seeing that you could dress up in the Batman Beyond suit!
Back in the COMMODORE 64 days we had to stare at a loading screen for 10 minutes before being able to play the game. Then die instantly, rewind the tape and reload the whole friggin game.
I really think Ghost of Tsushima should've been on this list, specifically for how the world guides you to objectives. Most games have a little compass or world map and you end up just staring at that instead of the beautiful world you're running around in. The dynamic guiding to objectives was so immersive, I'm really sad the game didn't get more attention for it than it did. I really thought it was ground-breaking. Edit: not saying this wasn't a great list, btw. Definitely nailed it.
Agreed. It would be great if more developers found new ways to guide you around the world that felt immersive. A lot of games use the arrow/compass thing which works but it’s an interesting. I also like dead space because it fits the game’s in world technology. It makes sense
4:58 Unlike RDR2, Skyrim came out in 2011, and looked fairly good for that time period. Many people have played it years later, and then unfairly compare it to much more recent titles. Although it did receive a minor visual update, this mostly just adds a bit of post-processing and increases the view distance a little. I think people have a tendency to forget that the game is 12 years old now (at the time of this comment).
No one's forgetting how old it is; in fact it's quite the opposite. We just love pointing out the improvement to measure how far we've come since older games released.
Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas for me, even before mods.. couldn't believe how amazing they are. How replayable, then came the mods, and I had a few extra thousands of hours in Skyrim.
Even more amazing is - the Tamriel Rebuilt mod project, which aims to "complete" Bethesda's initial goal to realize the entire province of Morrowind in TES3, is still ongoing - the Skywind mod project, which aims to add Vvardenfell & all its Morrowind content to the Skyrim game w/ all the benefits of its (more) modern engine.
@@zenkim6709 awesome, to think that Skyblivion is almost finished, I wouldn't be able to play it now as my current PC wouldn't handle it, but.. when I do get an updated machine, there might be already some big mods like this I can play. I would easily buy it for console tho.
Tears of the Kingdom set the bar INSANELY high for whatever Zelda game comes next. That ultrahand was SO fun to mess around with and the world is just SO massive. Also, P.T, was the scariest game I've ever played.
Lol how? Botw and Totk are spin offs, and while open world games with grand exploration is a lot of fun, the original zelda formula is more fun because the formula is unique like most Nintendo games and that's what Zelda fans really want.
You know I loved the New Kirby game! But the whole time I played I remember feeling like Kirby and the crystal shards spoiled me, because I couldn't stop thinking the entire time how cool it would be if I could combine abilities like I could in that game
I think for Kirby, it helps that it was only published for and on one console. It allows a team to focus on one system and perfect it instead of spreading the team thin for Playstation, XBox and everyone's varying PC setups.
I feel it's well worth mentioning OpenGOAL for Jak & Daxter. The engine improvements and being able to play this on PC at 60fps at your default resolution has been brilliant. They're well on their way to decompiling Jak II now as well, so we've got this to look forward to with modern hardware!
Currently just over 110 hours into BG3 on pS5 (yeah I’ve been GLUED to it..). So insanely good. A few bugs and crashes that can be a pretty annoying at times, but they ultimately barely detract from what has been a genuinely amazing, exciting, emotional game.
Max Payne 3 spoiled me on third person shooters, especially ones that focus on movement while still retaining a cover system and how the reticle is just a dot like the previous Max Payne entries. I'm honestly worried if Remedy can match those mechanics that Rockstar managed to improve on. Additional note, Resident Evil 4 (both the more cheesy classic and the gritty remake) also spoiled me when it comes to action-horror games balancing mechanically deep action and maintaining the stress found in horror games. I'd say the Dead Space games might come close, but there's just something about RE4 to me that works so well.
Same The best TPS i have Have ever played I think if GTA6 could have Maxpayne 3 gunplay With The Warriers hamd to hand and Manhunt stealth it Could really be amazing and Build off of the amazing open Worlds of RDR2, san andreas and Bully.
Controversial hot-take: Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts walked so Tears of the Kingdom could run. Go back load it up, try it. Freestyle "lego" style building, live vehicle editing, adapting the vehicle to lots of different types of challenges. Protect the egg, carry the item, defeat enemies, be fastest in a track with dirt and water. No one thinks about this game anymore but I loved it back in the day. TotK very much scratches that same itch.
My list would include 1. Satisfactory (Early access that feels like we already have a finished game that just gets bonus content after bonus content) 2. Kerbal Space Program 1 (A game that is so incredibly fun and also turns you into a person that understands real physics and when there are bugs, they are mostly entertaining... ok not if you are trying to setup a colony on Laythe) 3. Surviving Mars (Just for the Soundtrack. They hired a guy that actually loves music and did not poop out one generic piece after the other) 4 Gothic 1 (Talk about atmosphere and Soudtrack) 5 Dragon Age Origins (Talk about ramping up that atmosphere and soundtrack... the music in the camp, the dialogues, it all feels so 'Yeah it's hopeless, but you are not alone, we'll get through this' and the successors didn't even come close recreate that)
Baldurs Gate 3 was the first title to come to mind. I remember giving it a try, as I am someone who has never been interested in crpgs, and was blown away. Funnily enough, I was really considering getting thr new Diablo game that had just came out previously. I saw all the monetization that was there and decided to not get it. I see why people say they left Diablo 4 for BG3 as it's absolutely amazing with no monetization. Im about 70 hours into my playthrough and am still seeing how previous choices impacted my game. Im beyond excited for my next playthrough already and I haven't even beaten the game yet
Diablo 4 and Baldur's Gate don't even overlap on what they are. BG is a through-and-through role playing game. Diablo has never been more than a dungeon slasher. The monetization exists in D4, but it's easy to utterly ignore (besides, the prices are absurd beyond all reason. No skin has ever been worth $17)
For me the game that I feel that has spoiled me the most is Elden Ring. The overall freedom of movement is not something to be overlooked. In many games I always feel like my character has a ball and chain on their ankle or are perpetually stuck in mud. When we're getting games like Lies Of P and Lords of the Fallen where to jump is conditional upon having to be running at the time. Or worst experience I've had is to play a bunch of Elden Ring then go back and play Skyrim. It's so frustrating. Even compared to the Assassin's Creed games which have a ton of freedom of movement outside combat, the combat movements are lack luster by comparison.
I would put either KOTOR or the first Mass Effect on the list here. The storytelling is great and having your choices actually affect the game was amazing. Especially when you consider all of your choices from ME having a true impact on subsequent games.
Nowadays I'd definitely say that the ME trilogy are my favorite games of all time. I came back for a run of the three games in insanity mode after having only finished them again in 2021. The lore, world, choices and squad are damn amazing!
Spiderman was good but I don’t think it spoiled us as much as you say. Open world games in general give us a good amount of customization with our character. The Arkham games gave us plenty of skins as well. I think the only way it really spoiled us was by giving us free skins after launch. That was a pleasant surprise
Even though Cyberpunk went through the iron hot ringer with the development and launch as we all know, i will always have passion for that game as I personally saw the diamond under the rubble, and it's going to get even better with Phantom Liberty!
Definitely agree. Also, while RDR2 is a masterpiece, comparing a futuristic city to a sparse Wild West is a bit unfair. The former is far more complex and harder to bring to life.
I recently went back to play RDR2 (after not having touched it after completing it when it released). Blew me away that it still absolutely holds up today. It would still pass as a next-gen game today with the graphics and details in the world
Another game that surprisingly never got a patch is the Shadow of the Colossus remake on PS4. It’s also very stable and bug free. Props to Blue Point on that one.
Nevermind SotC itself spoiling us on what a real boss fight can be. I maintain they inspired Dragon's Dogma to take the same approach to their larger creatures.
PT was absolutely terrifying it the best way possible. I remember when I first played it on my PS4, the graphics and the immersive lack of a hub made it truly unique.
I think Elden Ring should be here, almost all open world games I've played had markers everywhere and held your hand on where to go, Elden Ring is the only one that really gave me that thrill of exploration and coming across something new, instead of a marker telling you where something cool is, you can see it in the distance and be like, "Wow I can go there"
I think a justification would more so be world design, which in the end allows you to play without markers. That in combination with some smart but small design decisions such as making the map slowly get bigger and giving you sneak peaks with teleporter chests makes the exploration of the Lands Between really satisfying.
You forgot to mention at Stardew Valley, that it also has a nice modding community too and the dev wants to make it even easier for modders to make mods for the games.
As much as I love Baldur's gate 3, I tried getting everybody to play Divinity original Sins 1 and 2 and I was called a nerd and now every normie and their mom is like Baldur's gate. Three is the best game ever
That experience is so common with a "nerdy thing" everyone teases you for only for it to go mainstream and everyone is head over heels for. Divinity Original Sin 2 was such a great discovery for me and shouted it off the rooftops to anyone who would listen. It never picked up the traction it deserved. Then Baldur's Gate 3 comes swinging and people are like, "This is great!" I'm like "duh!" I've been saying it for years.
Bonus: Gameranx has spoiled us by giving so much gaming content in a fresh way almost everyday and set the bar so high that conventional gaming channels feels boring.
Baldur’s Gate 3 truly does spoil me. I was let down by Final Fantasy XVI downplaying the RPG and exploration aspects I expect from the series, so this was a much needed RPG feast I’ll be dining on for quite a while.
Looks like FF7 rebirth is going to be a better experience. I’m playing XVI right now. I’m enjoying the game but the exploration is disappointing. I just came out of play Zelda and I think it ruin other games for me 😂 Maybe this is good because I don’t have to worry about spending another 200 hours in a game
Such a good vid man great enthusiasm behind it for the love of the games I'm definitely putting some of these on my wish list. I thought it was about the best games of all time but in actuality about games that cared the most about the gamers long term experience with it. Genius
Just found your channel this evening and attempted to watch this before going to bed, never have I felt more flashbanged than a cod character 😅 love the content though!
Hollow Knight is my favorite game I've ever played so far. I originally shrugged it off, but then became very interested and wanted to play it. I've got over 200 hours in the game simply from getting all the achievements (which I'm still working on), the DLCs (still working on Godhome), and just exploring!
@14:00 the new loading screen is the updates before you can even play the game, especially a game you already installed and played (some how there's always something to update).
I think he underplayed Stardew Valley a bit there. In a single FREE patch years after release, the devs completely reprogrammed the entire game, every single line of code to make the game 100% multiplayer compatible even though it was never originally planned to be multiplayer, and then added 4x more post game content to the game as well as added split screen co-op and directly further bolstered mod support. Even now Dec 2023, almost 8 years after release they are planning on adding 8 player multiplayer, and a bunch of extra festivals, events, minigames, outfits for all characters, new farms and other shit. Oh and they also completely translated the game into 11 other languages. That's next level shit
I will always resent The Witcher 3 for being so good that it made me feel let down by all following RPG games I played
I could not get into that game
Meh, it was ok.
Agreed, unfortunately hate/rage titles and posts tend to be incredibly popular yet.
The first and brightest memory I ever had of being genuinely blown away by a game was the first time I left the vault in fallout 3. It was incredible.
That’s how I felt about Oblivion when you escape the prison catacombs.
How I felt walking out of the starting church in Elden Ring and seeing the Erdtree for the first time. Jaw dropping moment.
For me it was POP warrior within ❤
Vanilla Skyrim on 360 is one of my favorite games, the experience of wandering through that world for the first time is an experience that has rarely been met

@@Rrrafael.00 Starfield is much more than just okay. It's a great game
Do what I'm gonna do. Dont play it for about a decade. By then it should be mostly fresh. Maybe even with a current gen update.
Was Hollow Knight better than Ori?
@@mav2553 Yes, without a doubt imo. I mean don't get me wrong, Ori is a fantastically beautiful game but Hollow Knight is a whole different level of scale in gameplay, world-building and atmosphere.
I love BG3, it's easily one of the best rpgs in the past decade. I'm not even a huge turn-based combat fan, but I love the freedom they managed to give you even with that style.

Visage one of the best
Which is good, but I still think it's hard. P.T. literally made me sweat I was so terrified.
It also turned a large chunk of Kojima Krazies into full-on entitled psychopaths.
I think that if pt hadn’t been released, capcom wouldn’t have switched up the formula and gave us resident 7/8. Granted they changed up the pace of the games, and weren’t as genuinely terrifying, they were some of my favorite games in the whole series
Madison is also inspired
Ghost Of Tsushima would’ve been a good one to mention. The game was very complete at launch and just beautiful with some of the most satisfying sword combat.
They also gave us an entire multiplayer expansion that they continuously added onto, all for free.
LMAO
Is it really that good? I was thinking of playing it. Or any other game tips? After finishing Red Dead 2 everything got boring to me lol

@@ep.
Facts.
If the DID talk about all of the good stuff in that game we’d be here all day! Gotta shrink it down so it’s not a multi hour video about all the games on this list.
Really hate how rockstar handle this title it would have been awesome if they would realized just how many people loved this game
It was a different emotion, but I found most of Trevor's personal stories highly emotional in GTA V.
I feel like all that goes with out saying tho.
I miss my Bollide and Glacier spear spell. Good lord they felt powerful and really were.
This. But with Kingdom of Amalur instead. I never played a mage before that game and have been seeking the power that that game made me feel ever since.
Thats what I loved about Dragons Dogma. They made every class feel like their attacks had impact
Awesome to see a positive top 10 list!! Great video Falcon and the Gameranx team... My pick would probably have to be Elden Ring
For me Bioshock is the game that initially spoiled me for environment aesthetics, just can’t beat Rapture’s setting imo.
yeah i played infinite first then 1 then 2 and the first game had the best setting and environment.
Yeah, it was one of the first FPS games I played back in '11 and I was like, wow, shooters aren't so bad! Little did I know how unique it was
I'll admit the fact that one person can create something as big and wonderful as stardew valley is absolutely mind blowing

BG3 is absolutely incredible. I usually dnt like turn based combat but the world and freedom blows me away.
Video idea: sequels of games so good that everyone forgot about the original
Definitely opened my eyes to cRpgs

I agree with a lot of what you say. If you can, it would be amazing to see more content like this. Hopefully, there is a shift in buying power to reward these types of games and business practices. Punishing the wallets of the companies that take advantage of us seems to be the only way they will change. So much of this is common sense. I'm so upset with the majority of games nowadays 😢

I don't know how my sister and I got through most of (I don't think we got the chance to complete it) it as kids.

Jak and Daxter was a great game, love that game. It was a real gem and I have very fond memories of it.

I did all but 3 achievements in BG3 and it was a good game. But I've totally left it behind now, I shan't be thinking about in 30 years time.
Should have also mentioned the Fuse ability in TOTK, people are still discovering odd combinations that do weird things.
Like Bird Car? Aren Hansen is a mechanical genius.
All that freedom for creativity ... but for what? There is no reward for it, rather than some players feeling a sense of accomplishment. I played 250 hours of the game, completed almost 2 thirds of the world maps (sky, hyrule, depths), and now I do not have the desire to keep playing it. The original warcraft 3 and frozen throne really spoiled us with the map editor.
It was so good that it spawned the MOBA genre.
yep. It's infuriating how he didn't even mention it. The game itself was great too. Breakthrough cinematics, masterpiece of a soundtrack, surprisingly polished on release. I played the original 1.0 version for a long time, and the game never crashed and I never experienced game-breaking bugs.
Hollow Knight is just one of the greatest gifts to the modern gaming world. Cheap, made with passion, and a caring community.
Who didn't get excited seeing that you could dress up in the Batman Beyond suit!
seeing Skyrim in lists after released for almost 12 years ago always puts a smile to my face
Back in the COMMODORE 64 days we had to stare at a loading screen for 10 minutes before being able to play the game.
Then die instantly, rewind the tape and reload the whole friggin game.
Memories, you could go make a sandwich and finish it before the loading finished sometimes..😂
Thank y'all for making some of the best youtube videos consistently for years!
Nah found that game massively overrated, was an Assassin's Creed bloat and repeat.
Agreed. It would be great if more developers found new ways to guide you around the world that felt immersive. A lot of games use the arrow/compass thing which works but it’s an interesting. I also like dead space because it fits the game’s in world technology. It makes sense
It had a wind system so you dobt need to look the mini map! 😂

'Rdr 2 was amazing back when it came out but is more impressive now'
I feel you falcon..
Even more amazing is
- the Tamriel Rebuilt mod project, which aims to "complete" Bethesda's initial goal to realize the entire province of Morrowind in TES3, is still ongoing
- the Skywind mod project, which aims to add Vvardenfell & all its Morrowind content to the Skyrim game w/ all the benefits of its (more) modern engine.

Excellent points on all fronts. I'm always amazed on how RDR2 gets included on good lists.
I feel it's well worth mentioning OpenGOAL for Jak & Daxter. The engine improvements and being able to play this on PC at 60fps at your default resolution has been brilliant.
They're well on their way to decompiling Jak II now as well, so we've got this to look forward to with modern hardware!
Love the work that y'all do. Please keep it up!

2. Kerbal Space Program 1 (A game that is so incredibly fun and also turns you into a person that understands real physics and when there are bugs, they are mostly entertaining... ok not if you are trying to setup a colony on Laythe)
3. Surviving Mars (Just for the Soundtrack. They hired a guy that actually loves music and did not poop out one generic piece after the other)
4 Gothic 1 (Talk about atmosphere and Soudtrack)
5 Dragon Age Origins (Talk about ramping up that atmosphere and soundtrack... the music in the camp, the dialogues, it all feels so 'Yeah it's hopeless, but you are not alone, we'll get through this' and the successors didn't even come close recreate that)
Baldurs Gate 3 was the first title to come to mind.
Red Dead 2 has set a whole new standard in gaming that everyone else is too lazy to match.
I'm not normally a fan of horror games but man P.T. was AWESOME. It was so simple but oh so deliciously well done.
I would put either KOTOR or the first Mass Effect on the list here. The storytelling is great and having your choices actually affect the game was amazing. Especially when you consider all of your choices from ME having a true impact on subsequent games.
I played the hell out of both of these but would still pick KoToR as an all-time favorite.
15:44 man he did NOT pull any punches there
I recently went back to play RDR2 (after not having touched it after completing it when it released). Blew me away that it still absolutely holds up today. It would still pass as a next-gen game today with the graphics and details in the world
I just gotta say the gameranx opening just calms me then hearing Jake or Falcon makes for a good day.
Witcher 3 not being on this list is a sin.
Amen to that
Well at least 'Hallow' knight (whatever tf that is) made it.
Witcher 3 has mid combat. It's mostly just liked for it's story and attention to detail.
Let me roll that comment back about 15 years and ask where the heckin' heck is Fable?
Another game that surprisingly never got a patch is the Shadow of the Colossus remake on PS4. It’s also very stable and bug free. Props to Blue Point on that one.
Nevermind SotC itself spoiling us on what a real boss fight can be. I maintain they inspired Dragon's Dogma to take the same approach to their larger creatures.
PT was absolutely terrifying it the best way possible. I remember when I first played it on my PS4, the graphics and the immersive lack of a hub made it truly unique.
Love that you talked about Jak and Daxter as well as Kirby. Also that little clip of Jumping Flash made me very very happy.
I think Elden Ring should be here, almost all open world games I've played had markers everywhere and held your hand on where to go, Elden Ring is the only one that really gave me that thrill of exploration and coming across something new, instead of a marker telling you where something cool is, you can see it in the distance and be like, "Wow I can go there"
Witcher 3, Ghost of Tsushima, Red dead redemption 2 all give you the same experience but not with 100 deaths so...yeah...
I think a justification would more so be world design, which in the end allows you to play without markers.
That in combination with some smart but small design decisions such as making the map slowly get bigger and giving you sneak peaks with teleporter chests makes the exploration of the Lands Between really satisfying.
Morrowind?
RDR2, Skyrim, GTA V, Fallout 4 they also allow you go to anywhere without dying 100 times.
Preeeeeeeeach
Oh, and Pillars of Eternity, which shares a world with Critical Role, and thus, Legend of Vox Machina.
Games that Spoiled us and just kept giving? Have you heard of "No Man's Sky"? The amount of free updates we got is unreal.
Unlocking a new suit in Spider-Man was _amazing_ each time.
I just came out of play Zelda and I think it ruin other games for me 😂
Maybe this is good because I don’t have to worry about spending another 200 hours in a game
@@joegardner851 Yes, I’m excited for Rebirth. Nomura always does a good mix of action and RPG, and last week’s trailer was great.
There's another one for an "inappropriate" video; Kirby on a traffic cone and those puckered holes in the ground. LOL
Omg ty for finally mentioning a jak and Daxter game. This game should be in so many more of your videos
Love the video. I have loved many of these games and few that I have not played I want to play. Thanks!
Wow! Super happy about this video! I've learned that we WERE spoiled and now things suck 😂
