3D Text in Blender: Everything You Need to Know!

  • This is a beginner's tutorial to 3D text in Blender. Add text, edit text and understand the text settings in Blender. I'll cover the Blender text properties in depth. I'll show you how to animate text and add a curve to text in Blender. We will also cover where to get fonts and change the font of text in Blender.
    Blender text can be great for 3D logos and other video elements for creators. They are a different type of object though and work differently than meshes. I promise you'll know everything you need to know about text by the end of this tutorial. If you need more info, I have a guide to 3D text here: brandonsdrawings.com/blender-...

      Why this video works. I've made a bunch of youtube videos lately. This video really works because the guy is clear, to the point, you can hear him without background noise (no computer case fan hum, no background noise, etc.), and the video is clear. He is recording off computer, not trying to point the camera at the blurry monitor. He gets to the point fast. You might have to stop the video to carefully see what he does, but you can see it. He doesn't leave anything unnecessary out, and includes everything you need. Its very frustrating watching people click on this and that in Blender and not know what they pushed or clicked. Pretty much everything you want to know about text in blender in a 7 minute video. Awesome!

    I spent an hour last night trying to figure out text (first use of blender). I spent another TWO hours trying to follow various tutorials.
    This video is great. I appreciate the speed. I'm gonna hit pause anyway if I'm following along, and if I'm not following along I'd MUCH rather have a 7 minute video than 70 minute video.
    I REALLY appeciate the short references to things like the text panel, where things are, what they mean. Just a few words for context, SUPER helpful.
    This will be my first stop for tutorials.

    Not to look a gift horse in the mouth...I love the vid, great stuff, clear and awesome. I'm looking for advice on making text for games. When taking the text that has been made a mesh, what way do you find best to optimize it? I'll be unwrapping and using Painter to texture. I've tried different decimates and I'm just never totally happy with the topology of the final mesh (for Unreal and such as FBX). Thanks so much!

    very cool. the only problem i ran into with the text tool is, that you can only bevel outside from the font and that there is not an option to bevel the interior. this makes every font bolder than it should be. maybe you have a solution for this?

    • @gurpwindoo1928
      @gurpwindoo1928 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd use something like TinkerCAD instead if all you want is to 3D print the text. Try bringing those into Blender if you want to make changes there as the meshes should already be suitable for printing (no voids or tears).
