I will be honest, when you started this with how to use backspace and delete, I did not expect to learn much, but damn, that was really informative! Thanks again!
Ryan, I’m curious about something that’s none of my business, so feel free to ignore me. Do you make a living from your channel? You have so many very high quality and useful videos, I can’t imagine you having any time left in your life for anything else. My major thanks for all you do. I’ve learned more from your tutorials than anyone else, hands down. I hope you’re getting rich in the process.
Thanks! Yes, thanks to all of my supporters, My Patrons, Gumroad customers, and TH-cam viewers, I'm able to create these tutorials for a living! So this is my job.
Hello, sir. A question, if I may: offset makes the characters thicker, but does so over the entire character. For a project I am working on, I should like to be able to 'offset' only the base of the letter, and keep the top intact; so that you get 'sand castle' shaped letters (if looked at from the side). How can I do that? (This is not for animation but for 3d printing)
I'm thinking my new learning workflow should be to skim through videos for unfamiliar visuals, and skim through documents for unfamiliar words, so that I'm always getting new information at the lowest cost of brainpower. Only problem is I can't tell for myself how ignorant that is of the larger processes, but I figure I should do the skimming to get some "mile wide, inch deep" knowledge, and learn some terminology, and then go through the relevant systems piece by piece to understand how to use them in practice. Can anybody speak for or against that method?
When editing text, Home, puts the cursor at the start of a line. End, puts the cursor at the end of a line. Ctrl + Home or End, puts the cursor at the start or end of the whole text. Holding the Shift key is for highlighting text. Use this with any of the arrow keys and with any combination with the above Home, End, and Ctrl keys. Alt + Left or Right arrows, will adjust the spacing between characters. Alt + Up or Down arrows, changes the character before the cursor. Making the letter D change to a E or a C, etc. Ctrl + Left or Right arrows, makes the cursor jump to the end or start of each word* Highlighted text in Blender CAN be copied and pasted into other text documents etc. You can also right* click (depending on your key config) and select copy or paste etc (Not sure why Ryan couldn't get this to work)
Hmm, so it turns out that I can copy text from Blender to a simple text file on my computer, but when I try to paste text into a LibreOffice Writer file from Blender, it won't paste the text into it.
@RyanKingArt interesting, I wonder how many other programs it does or doesn't work on. Maybe it's an OS thing or the program itself. If you can copy from Blender into a normal text doc, but not your other program. Can you then copy from the normal text doc and copy that to your program?
@@RyanKingArt FR: Pourriez-vous faire un tutoriel sur comment faire un contour propre pour le texte s'il vous plaît ? :D EN: Could you make a tutorial on how to make a neat outline for the text ? :D
This was a very exhaustive dive into the text editor in blender! I was waiting to see if you were going to try and fix the topology LOL I wish there were a way to do it easily. I have tried and gave up many times. The only way to get good topology is to get a re-topo plugin. Importing SVG files is the same way.
Yeah the topology needs a lot of love. Not sure if there is any good ways to fix it other than doing it by hand. Some plugins etc may work but it's still not a perfect fix
@Ryan King Art im having an issue i would appreciate your help with. Take the starship for example. How would you go about making a hexagon heat shield tiles and apply to the starship? Would you use geometry nodes? would you use a texture? A custom material? How would you approach this?
Thanks very much, Ryan! I've been looking forward to your "text" instructions.
Thank you so much for your support!!
Hello Ryan!
Thank you for creating this video!
But I have a question: if I want you to review an addon I must contact you on your website right?
yes, you can contact me on my website contact page.
Ok I did pls check it as soon as you can
Thanks a lot! I'm kinda back on making Blender animations and your tutorials have really been inspirational all this time
Great to hear that!
👍🏻 A comprehensive tutorial just about the various text functions. Delivered with a lot of patience. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Ryan Thank you for share your skills. Could you show us how to fix the mesh on fonts? Thank you!

For some reason my keybinds are different. when i press tab it selects it but i cant edit geometry unless i press Shift + Spacebar then Shift + 9
Hi. How to enable "Select Box" in Edit Mode on left? I only see a 3D cursor on the left. I can't select text because of it.(
Too much space between T and E in text. Don't forget kerning! Use Alt w right or left arrows to adjust letter spacing (kerning)..
"The Leaning Tower of Pisa shouldn't be leaning! It must be straightened because I think that's how it should be!"
Blender is the new Microsoft Word
Haha yeah 😄
im at 4 min it was 1 full minute of asking for support and 2 minutes of how to write text on a win 10 pc
how to add another languages would be nice
Hmm yeah, I'm not sure how to do that.
@@RyanKingArt anyways i like your videos so much.... keep it up
legit he did 2 more full minutes on basic copy and paste
how to create geometry node text and how to color it?
Hi Ryan, I’m interested in finding out if you’re available for hire for (1) one-on-one tutoring via Zoom or (2) building out a project.
Thx for tutorial bro, its very useful, greatings from Austria 🙂
Glad it helped!
Amazing 🤩🤩
thanks!
Thank you 4 your tutorials. You have by far one of the best tutorials on TH-cam. 🎉
Glad you like them!
Thanks Ryan
Is it possible to animate text from one font to other font ?
and is it possible to animate the text color ?
not sure about the font question, But yes, you can animate colors. hover your mouse over the color, and press i, to add a keyframe to the color.
Can we do amv edit on blender?

Thanks for the comment! Maybe I couldn't copy text out of Blender, because I'm using Linux Mint.

It might just be a problem with LibreOffice Writer, since I can copy and paste text from Blender into a simple text file. @@Unleashed75
awesome video! I was trying to figure out 3d Text just before this came out 😂
Hope you found it helpful!
@@RyanKingArt super helpful, Thanks!
It looks really nice but sucks to learn
IT WORKED:)))))
cool!
Great as always, But!... Has anybody figured out "Vertical Text"?????
Hmm, I don't think blender can do vertical text.
Hey thanks for getting back to me Ryan. I figured a work around by hitting return/enter after each letter. @@RyanKingArt
