    Tried to put a face on my dxf converted imported drawing and can't get it to work. In the video you drew a line from one side to the other and it gave it a face. Mine won't do that....is there a trick? (Newbie to the program)

      Yea, this really doesn't work. I even tried a stick figure and no luck. He is clicking on the keyboard like crazy when he draws those lines. All I can see it the pencil (line) tool and eraser highlight.

    Great video as usual. Unfortunately I found out DXF files are not supported on the free 2017 version of sketchup. Hard to believe the program does not have such a basic feature as allowing a 2D image to be directly imported as a manipulable object. Seems like something that would be incredibly common.

    It works, but when I convert an SVG to DXF and bring it in to Sketchup, it makes it WAY oversized. I pulled in something that was suppose to be 12"w and became 1300" wide once imported? How do you keep the scale? Thanks!

    sooooooo annoying that DXF import is not a "free" function in the old Sketchup Make. i can't afford hundreds of dollars a year for software. not to mention i get by just fine with the Make version, EXCEPT when it comes to being able to import/export DXF/DWG files on occasion.

    Can i just say, $350 per year is ridiculous. $350 for lifetime, yeah. But $350 per year is a joke

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Based on what exactly (or compared to what software)? There is a free version you can use for general modeling, but I'm curious what you'd be using it for, and what you're comparing it to?

    • @kyleb4327
      @kyleb4327 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Thesketchupessentials based on its software, I should be able to buy a copy of it. Not have to pay $350 a year to "use" it. Not to mention the price keeps going up.. if there's updates, or something new that a newer version offers, then charge for the upgrade. And yeah, the free version is nice, I will say that. But for someone that wants just a few more features than the free version, paying for them in the amount of $350 annually is just wild. It makes me want to learn how to use the blender because it's free and seems way more intricate. I mean, I believe AutoCad is less than SketchUp pro. I design stuff to 3d print, that's the only thing I use it for.

    • @kyleb4327
      @kyleb4327 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Thesketchupessentials giving just a few more features in free version would work as well. Mainly the ability to extrude an svg, or PNG. That's it. TinkerCad is free and you can do it on there.. but SketchUp, the program I tell everyone I use wants $350/year to extrude an SVG.

    • @kyleb4327
      @kyleb4327 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Thesketchupessentials $350 a year just to extrude an SVG, that's a bit much. TinkerCad is free and you can extrude an SVG on there.. it would be cool if the program was $150. Then you bought tools that you need. Because that's basically all I need at the moment. That's why $350/year is wild to me.
