Damn, out of all the blender tutorials I've seen, this one is definitely one of the best. Thanks for the simple, straight-to-the-point tutorial. Keep it up!
Seems to be an overly complicated way to extrude a shape. Why not trace the bitmap file and make a path from it, import it as svg, convert to mesh, extrude. Done.
Yes. Via Inkscape.
This doesn't seem complicated to me though... Just 1 week using Blender
He definitely did this the LOOOOONG way. SVG, convert, extrude.. Whatever is going on here, do not do it this way lol
@@zeroh_chill2966is there a tutorial?
Do u have a tutorial for it?
Brooooo, Ive looking for this. The best, most concise, informative and best paced tutorial I've seen in a while. Thanks a lot. Good video bro
Exactly what I needed. Thank you for your generosity. May all your endeavors be successful !
Incredible tutorial, took me like 40 mins to do it but it was so well explained and informative. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge, respect!
how bro how
This was an excellent tutorial! You did a fantastic job and got to the point! Keep up the great work!
I learnt 3x from this tutorial than I thought I would.
Good job!
i learned way more then expected, great video!
This was EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
Thank you so much I’ve watch more video of trying to do this exact thing that your doing. And yours has work phenomenal and I appreciate it more than words can describe. Thank and please keep up the good work.
Amazing. Thank you so much for this man. So helpful! Looking forward your next tutorials.
I really appreciate your awesome words :)
Well deserved like. I can't thank you enough. Top notch tutorial. Many thanks!
Thank you for this tutorial. The SVG generators out there can have some unwanted artifacts that are hard to clean up, this is much more simple!
My dude, thank you so much for this tutorial.
This helps me a lot at the Time, thanks for your Work.💪👍👍👍
It was a bit hard to follow as a blender noob, but I got it now. Looks so good, thanks! :)
Nice job, i was thinking of designing a coaster for 3d printing and this will help a lot.
Happy to help 🙂
thank you for a well explained tutorial!
Thank you, made my first 3D model
THANK YOU! You just saved my life :D
Amazing tutorial!
Thank U so much! So easy! 😃
ong this video save me!!! thank you so much.
Holy fu** ! The best tuto ever !
Thanks so much for helping me.
Looking forward to trying this myself. I recently picked up a 3D printer and would like to fabricate some custom parts for a small model. I had planned to make them out of clay, but I would prefer to 3D print them. Thanks for what seems to be an easy to follow tutorial.
One thing to note is using the smooth modifier or the Shade Smooth setting will not improve the quality of a 3D printed or machined object made from the 3d model cause smoothing just hides the polygons with shading wich the CAM/Slicer program will ignore as it just sees the "raw" polygons in contrast to say a game engine where the shading will carry over and hide the polygons but they are still there. Only further subdivisions to make the polygons even smaller will work for creating a physical object with a (somewhat) smooth surface right from the machine.
I have watched the video many times but in my case after opening the image, the image is not displaying in the working area.Help to fix the issue please
Fabulous. Thank you
Excellent ! 👌
Excellent.
4:08 just FYI in case you wanna add a notation - you said "Set origin to 3d cursor" but selected "Origin to Geometry" (which is correct)
When I increase modifiers the plane turns black on the edit mode and can't click it
Thank you so much, Champion
My pleasure Mr.Rachid, happy to help
Excellent. Thank you. How will it work with colors other than black and white?
Hi great tutorial but can't find an answer to the following: what if the bridge edge loops and fill both creates vertices that pass over empty space? I have a circular logo and there must be some variation in the z axis along the vertices because filling or bridging edge loops causes some of them to overlap others. I tried scaling along the z axis as you said to flatten everything but didn't fix it. For example imagine a doughnut where the inner hole has been filled in but the vertices outlining the hole are still there. Is there a way to cut the face of the doughnut using the vertices of the inner hole?
I decided to just keep it looking pixelated, because I'm aiming to make a low-poly game, anyway. But this saved a lot of time.
thanks for this amazing tutorial but having an issue with something I'm working on can you help ?
when I try to the step the resolution is SOOO bad even though the image is high res thanks in advance
When I open the texture image; it does not render on the screen; am I missing a step?
How do you do the bridge edge loops because everytime I try it it fills the whole plane.
How do i reset subdivisions? I tried cntrl e then u and it didn't work.
After S + Z + 0, why haven't you applied the merge by distance?
At 2:55 when Im selecting the parts of the wireframe, it just selects the whole mesh. Why blender doesn't let me to select certain parts of the mesh?
bridge edgeloops did not work for me in just connected all the vertices
HI. When I am about to delete the bottom at 2:45 it doesn´t bring the delete options up as it does in your video. :) what have I missed, I am complete new to this. Thanks in advance!
I tried this 3 times, and I never see my logo after importing to displacement map. Has this changed since the newest update??
How do you select all the verices faces at once to delete ?
How do I make the image smoother?
(Mine came out all pixel-y)
Can I use this to convert a 2D map (with mountains) into a 3D one?
I (like many others) and roadblocked by the extrude issue. Object will not extrude upwards on the z-axis, as if it's not in 3d space.
why can't I use the straight cut feature on the subdive?
Good tutorial, but the keyboard shortcuts are hard to follow along with when they are only sometimes on the screen. Such as 3:17, did you press tab, e, z, but only put on the screen tab, e? It would be helpful to reference the actual features instead of shortcuts for this reason, to give a real explanation as to what you are doing.
The sound from your mic could be louder but this video helps me rlly
My computer did not like that I tried to subdivide by 100 twice instead of 3 on the second subdivision looool
can I make it so I can print it on a 3D printer?
thank u
It’s much easier (and way better) to draw it on a vector software, import it on blender and extrude. There are free vectorial tools that are excellent. Nice exercise to learn some blender tricks btw.
How can I add a face on something which has more than one hole?
When I try to subdivide the second time Blender stops responding?
Nice
像这样的模型我以前都是用曲线慢慢画的O.O没想得还能这样做,我学到了,谢谢你( •̀ ω •́ )✧
and what if i use a colored image?
How to use dimension in 2D 3D imagne changes
can It work for color images?
Great video, any way to do this and retain the original colours of the image?
Thanks for the kind words, yes there is.. I will do it in the next coming tutorial
His shortcut keys are out of my head
I usually do it the old fashioned way. Extrude, scale, extrude, scale, move, edge loop, extrude, scale, you get the idea.
Any advice on why Blender will not allow me to extrude on the z-axis? Like when I go to 3:22 in the video it does not allow me to extrude upwards I can only extrude on the x/y axis.
I think i figured it out. Somewhere along the way the Z scale of the object gets set to 0. Meaning there's nothing for the object to multiply on top of. Solution: Go to OBJECT mode -> hit N or look for that transform window -> check SCALE: set z to like .01, then try again
the displaced part dissappears for me when i go into edit mode. do you have a fix for it?
2:39 you have to do that step, you have to hit apply
I don't understand this... I hit E and then Z but it just pulls it all apart. I've restarted this video 6 times and I've redid my project another 10. So I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Same
@@Valkyriexproject glad I'm not the only one lol
I've watched a few tutorials and this is literally the worst way to do this. Convert to SVG (Adobe Express) drop in. Delete anything you don't want, select all, switch to Edit and Extrude on Z access. Export. Took me 5 mins after 4 hours battling with this chump method.
@@Valkyriexproject oh? Export the picture to the picture?
S Z 0 doesn't work for me. S i scale. Z shows shading and 0 does nothing. The same when I press all at once.
How to flatten all of that surface?
Select everything in edit mode -> press S -> press Z or W (depends on the keyboard) -> press 0 on the numpad -> press Enter
@@peakzrl9995 I figured it out. I have to drag the mouse after presing s than the axis can be used.
Piece of advise...Plane base goes up after changing strength to 0.25 instead of remaining down, what did I do wrong? Any help would be totally apreciated
It needs to be -0.25
Hello, this was great but, if i want to fill the letter G or smothing The same thing happens on 5:57 its goes into crazy if i fill it with Bridge edge loops....
Alt + F
I can't extrude the z axis at all. It will only extrude X and Y.
having the same issue
@@poeticwun I think i figured it out. Somewhere along the way the Z scale of the object gets set to 0. Meaning there's nothing for the object to multiply on top of. Solution: Go to OBJECT mode -> hit N or look for that transform window -> check SCALE: set z to like .01, then try again
not sure why but my brand new computer cant seem to handle the strain of subdividing the second time :/
Hello, if you're still having this issue let me know, I'll help you with it
Me too, it crashes every time
I would have done it pretty much the same way, but near the end, i would have cut away half of it and used a mirror modifier to ensure symmetry
Excellent idea for symmetrical logos
how to export ?
what about topology
so every time I get to the shift d step something keeps messing up and I've tried over and over again and idk wtf is wrong can u please help me
Show me a screenshot and I'll help you out
@realfaker not sure how to do that on here. Is there an email I can send it to?
@@XXXChef22 Here's my email realityfakers.cgi@gmail.com
I could not hear no mater how high i put the volume
what do you mean in 3:07 of clip you say press S Z and press zero !!what does it mean and I press it but do nothing in edit mode
The S + Z + 0 on numpad command is used to flatten geometry on the Z axis
I pressed E and Z but it doesn't go up 3:22
same, i cannot extrude it upwards
@@teknorocky I think i figured it out. Somewhere along the way the Z scale of the object gets set to 0. Meaning there's nothing for the object to multiply on top of. Solution: Go to OBJECT mode -> hit N or look for that transform window -> check SCALE: set z to like .01, then try again
MY LOGO IS A BUNCH OF STRAIGHT LINES AND I FOLLOWED ALL STEPS BUT SOMEHOW ITS ALL JAGGED LINES HOW DO I FIX THIS?
Anti aliasing maybe? Turn it off
At :49, how did you pull the camera back??
By pressing number 0 on numpad
I don't know but it's not working for me
It did not work and my 3d model was a garbled mess.
what version of blender you using? i am having trouble with it
v3.4.1. Look at the bottom right corner of the interface window.
Hello … can you please tell me why I’m not able to access extrude. It’s going to the sides when i tried to extrude. Can you help me fix this…
I am having the exact same issue! After flattening I can not get it to extrude! did you figure out a fix for it?
@@PassorFail Hold e down while you do it.

So how's this supposed to work for anything more complicated than the batman logo? I can't even get bridge edge loops to work properly on a letter A
use alt+f
how do i add the color of an image back to it?
Add a material and try to match it as close as possible I'd guess.
When I double click on the image, in texture tab, nothing happens....any clues?
I did an update tutorial (2d superman) to fix this issue you're facing
@@realfaker Thanks for this. Much appreciated.
rad
I feel like this is the long way. I'd rather import bat logo, add curve path and trace the outlines of it. > convert to mesh and extrude.
👌
isnt the 1 click order "import images as planes" much faster?
True that I didn't knew it back.. thanks for the tip
MINES NOT WORKING
Ееее !!! ❤
Doesn't work from the start, it crashed my device😢
blender is realy hard i am a beginer and i keep messing up but good video
It didn't work. I put 512x512 in the x and y dimensions. The plane is ridiculously large.
do 5.12
