I wish I had run across this video several years ago. I use some of the tools you demonstrated, but not near as efficiently. That's the problem with being a self taught user of Sketchup. I've drawn some pretty intricate renderings with Sketchup, but probably took 10 times longer to do it because I don't fully understand the application or methods of using these tools. You take the tediousness out of Sketchup. Thanks buddy.
Boy you are good Justin. Thankyou. Ive made many great intricate landscapes and homes over the years with SU but everytime I watch your vids I find another example of why it takes me so long to make my models. I always have a deadline and am surrounded by pressing distractions so usually I just have to pick one or two new things to learn from you how to do differently for each new project. Thanks to you I can improve, albeit even in slow increments.
OMG thank you so much I feel like this video was the easiest to understand the tools and other extensions as well. I will try them out and let you know back in a comment.
Great video. Spheres always annoyed me, until I found out that you can't make spheres without holes in them unless the radius is at least 68mm (67.9mm). Eg. if you try making a smaller sphere, you'll get a sphere with a face that's not fully closed. I decided to try changing the radius until I found the point where the surface no longer has holes. If you need a smaller sphere, create a 100mm sphere, then use the scale tool to scale it down. -I'm still having trouble slicing small spheres without their faces getting messed up. Edit: Hint ... If things break, try drawing it oversize and scale it down. Sometimes I draw things in meters and scale down to millimeters (/1000), that usually helps - but some precision is definitely lost when scaling down, so don't expect perfection.
I have just started using sketchup and I have done many works perfectly thanks to your tutorials Justin...I appreciate your efforts...and If it is not annoying explain how to use scale tool to flib as you did in the last organic shape
Coming from a 3D studio MAX world it was hard for me to transition from MAX to Sketchup. Thanks for making the transition easier! I will be watching more of your videos!
OKAY!!! you just blew my mind, a huge thumbs up and a sub from me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you for teaching me something that will save me a lot of time!!!
Great content. I’m curious to try out the JHS extension. I’m going to be making a swimming pool soon n probably will go for my old fave of sandbox to make the sloping bottom. Thanks for ur clear and generous content.
WOW! This was a super useful tut. The *Round Corner* extension offers features to rival a 3D polygon Modeler (if not a NURBS one). And, so _THAT's_ how you make a sphere and can Lathe a profile in SketchUp! I guess the latter also works with an Imported Profile, as a *DXF* from Illustrator? I messed with *Artisan* a long time ago, and it seemed to me that a dedicated 3D poly modeler like *Blender* or the easier *Hexagon* would be preferable if you intended to do much in that area. Finally, *Soap Bubble* looks really interesting if a bit complex. Thanks, Justin!
I've subscribed to your channel before i watch ur videos because I know this channel might be useful to me, and it is, this skp tutorial is the first video I watch and I try it out and it works, ohmyy your tutorials are really useful thankyou so very very much. keep it up!
Thanks for doing this, by the way. Which version shall I go with to start building an egg-shaped house? I bet free version would not have all the options.. cheers!

Thanks...oh and they should put a love button, cuz this one is a love not a like :)
Thank you for your videos. I have a complex shape and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to achieve this. Growlerwerks is a pressurized can for beer, or it has a handle that comes with multi shapes to grab the can. Can you tell me how I can achieve this or do I need a plug-in? Also I'm running 2006 SketchUp pro. Thanks John
