    Thanks very much for another great Chromebook tablet review. I bought this tablet over the HP alternative because for the same price, the duet 5 came with tablet, keyboard cover, spen and spen cover. At first, I didn't like the large tablet size, but now I love it. I don't notice issues like the weight and size any longer - and strangely, I think I now prefer larger screen tablets.

    The OLED screen has an automatic built-in Eye Care Display technology per Lenovo, thus the screen does not look as white in dark light settings or not as bright rooms. Once you are in room with bright lighting, the OLED screen whites changes and it will be amazing with perfect blacks and colors. I thought my screen was defective at first until I tested it in various different lit rooms and proved that the Eye Care display setting kicks in when in not well lit rooms.

      thanks for sharing this, I didnt know that. However, in any indoor environment I used the device, the screen was still not white.

    I tried the Duet 3 for a couple of weeks and found the screen too small to use with keyboard attached as a laptop. At first, I found the Duet 5 tablet mode too big as a tablet, but then I started using split and pop-up windows modes and became very productive. Sometimes this mode can be unstable, but in the long run I think Google will fix the bugs. For multi apps, 8GB is a must. When I want to use Chrome or read via an app such as Kindle in portrait mode, I put the app that I'm reading in 3/4 split mode. The bottom can be another app such as Google Keep to take up 1/4 for taking notes. The Duet 5 is difficult to hold as a tablet. I'm going to try attaching a handle/strap to the back and see if it is comfortable and secure. A case makes the Duet 5 heavy. Someone should come up with beefy bumpers that attach to the corners.

    I just bought one for a stupidly cheap price; after minimal use thus far, I like it. It does the tasks I wanted it for very well and I'm happy with my purchase, but that wouldn't be the case if it had been full-price or if it was my "main" device. I can't deny it's faults and I agree with your points. Mine does close better than yours did, though.

    Another great video. I have questions regarding ram and storage: Are there significant differences in the performance between the 4GB and 8GB RAM models? Is the storage in the 128GB model any faster than the 64GB SSD model? Thanks.

    • @amsatt
      @amsatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, the storage difference has no effect on the write and read speed. But the RAM difference for multitasking would have effect. but for a single app requiring less than 1 to 2 GB Memory you will not see a difference in performance.

    Finally. Every review I have seen says that the screen is great. The screen is NOT great. The screen door pixel effect is quite noticeable. Text are blurry unless you set the resolution to 1080p, which shrinks everything way too small to see comfortably. Some images are fuzzy or not quite clear. I am very disappointed in the screen on this.

    Thanks for the review. I'm just comparing the Lenovo Duet 5 (in the 8Gb RAM, 128 SSD) which has the Snapdragon 7c ARM cpu vs the Asus CX5400 on i3 CPU (8GB ram, 256 Gb SSD). As I would need to carry also a 15" company laptop, the weight and portability would be something to consider. Also I would prefer a x86 cpu with target to use Linux apps which are not designed for arm. I see on Amazon also the Asus has i5 cpu, but price is 1400€, so much higher but, even with random use of Crostini, I understand that i3 should be enough still ok, not too slow. What would you recommend?

    • @amsatt
      @amsatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want heavily use the Linux Apps you might go with Asus. Unless you know the Apps that you need, do work in ARM processors. Core i3 as I know has a better performance than Snapdragon 7c ARM. The battery life would be the main advantage of Duet 5!

    • @amsatt
      @amsatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the pen and cover are not always included in the box. Depends on the model and the bundle you buy.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.. 8GB RAM is really good. Can this device be considered for work? I connect to Amazon Workspace to perform my job (there is an App for it), For calls, I use MS Teams and I'm worried about offline document editing, I heard from other that you can only edit the documents when you are connected internet? Is that correct? overall Can this device be considered for work?

    • @amsatt
      @amsatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be considered for work but sometimes you must search for alternative apps that exist on the Linux platform (WPS, LibreOffice). MS Office android apps are no longer supported for these Chromebooks. So, the only way to use it is via the web version, which requires the internet. But you can sideload the MS Android apps, so there is a way around it.
      Have a look also at this device: Huawei Matebook E
      The base model (8GB of RAM + 128 GB storage + Keyboard + Pen) with core i3 has the same price as Duet 5.

    What really sucks is unlike the duet 3 this one does not go to tablet mode when you fold the keyboard back which is absolute crap for a tablet of this cost. You have to disconnect the keyboard physically before it to go into tablet mode. But the duet3 has a built-in sensor that disables the keyboard completely even while still physically connected..... To me that's just lazy

This is a very good tablet, it is well priced and responsive, it will meet most people's needs particularly at the affordable end of the spectrum. As far as the faults with the cover are concerned, they are non existent unless he was given a faulty device to utilise. Backlit keyboard what do expect for the price and mostly not necessary!?
