I have the original Duet from 2020 (10.0") and it was a good device, but slower and laggier. Chrome OS doesn't run well on 4GB ram anymore. It's still a good device and I still use it for reading and watching videos. The screen isn't OLED but it is still very nice and has a full HD 1080 display. I got the 13.0" Duet 5 earlier this year, and it's a night and day difference. Up close, the OLED screen doesn't seem as sharp, whereas the original 10.0" screen was sharp enough to not see any pixels. I got the 128GB SSD / 8GB ram version from Best Buy. The 13.0" OLED is a huge improvement, and the keyboard is so much nicer - you can actually type on it and use it for productivity. I own both and both are good in their own ways. I get 10-11 hours of battery life on the Duet 5. With the Duet 5, I can actually do productivity work on it because of the keyboard. I still have a Windows laptop for when I need it, but for me, Chrome OS does pretty much anything I need to do on a daily basis.
Great video! I'm trying to decide between this device and the Microsoft Surface Pro X. I love the battery life and touch gestures on the Chromebook duet, but I like the keyboard and pen more on the surface. I am also struggling to decide which aspect ratio I prefer, 16:9 or 3:2. I'm used to the former as my old laptop had that ratio, but I can't decide which I prefer in tablet mode.
I'll always prefer 3:2 or similar for tablets, I just feel cramped for some reason... I do like the look of the surface devices though, but can't help loving the simplicity of ChromeOS for basic stuff. Different story if you need Windows of course
This is PERFECT for a student. It is also PERFECT for a professional who wants something well build with great battery life, and will connect to a virtual machine anyways!!!
It's what I take away with me traveling, use VLC for most of my anime on it Speakers, usual thin device sound to them but fine for everything I've used them for
Difficult to say - if they did a + version, it would be quite expensive I still use mine frequently, but mostly for Google Docs, Sheets and watching videos, no video editing or gaming If it's a good special and it works for your needs now, it might be worth it
@@FilthyCasualTech Another quick unrelated questions.. Do most Chromebook come with a brick type charger.? I travel a lot and brick charger is a pain. Duet five I think is a regular USB type charger
Both of my Chromebooks can charge off USB C without a power brick I expect as you get into more powerful laptops and away from the smaller low power devices, they would start to need bricks

I still prefer 16:9, mainly for video entertainment. But having a taller screen won't hurt for document writing.

Very much agree - hoping the new Duet 11 will be similarly excellent
Nice presentation. Thanks.. I have a quick question.. Would you consider Lenovo Duet 5 to be a Chromebook plus?
Unfortunately it doesn't count as a 'Chromebook Plus' due to not meeting the spec requirements - not having an Intel/AMD CPU and lacking RAM
@@FilthyCasualTech Thanks
How is it for watching movies ? Vlc player performance? Speakers ?
It's what I take away with me traveling, use VLC for most of my anime on it
Speakers, usual thin device sound to them but fine for everything I've used them for
Does it support HDR10 , Netflix, Prime etc ? Thnx
Would never expect HDR10 for this class of device - only 400nits max.
I use Disney and Prime and they're all good here though
Nice
This is on sale today. would you buy now or wait for the updated version chromebook plus version which I feel may be around the corner

@@FilthyCasualTech Thanks. Yes it is for $329. I think if they come with a plus it will be back to 499 (where most of them are).

Terrible speakers, can hardly hear a movie when watching.
