This has always been a very compelling product because it has OLED, desktop version of Chrome, keyboard included etc ... But it's strange they haven't refreshed it in 3 years. My best guess is it has something to do with Snapdragon closing their production of chips from Chromebooks. We'll see.
I bought an open box, nearly a month after it released and I love mine. I use it to practice Python in va code on the linux partition. It's still one of my favorite tablets and I have a lot of them.
I own Duet 3. It cost same amount as entry level ryzen5 notebook(365€). I decided for duet mainly because it of its flexibility. Art/design(with stylus), Gaming(with Gforcenow), Office work, Internet browsing, note taking in class... etc. I never regreted it. One thing that does suck is the low performance. You are not able to run some apps, mainly 3D ones that I need to use(Solidworks, Autocad...windows edition) but there are many online alternatives like Onshape. The best thing about it is the small form factor. I can carry it with me everywhere and the battery is extremely good too. The OS is nice to work with but sometimes I get lost in the settings tab. I love it. Are there better choices for the price? Yes. Do I regret buying it? No
Also hearing about the EDU G2 one in the chromebook variant from Lenovo, its quite amazing with the powerful Kompanio chip and immersive 2K display rate.
I had this tablet and I liked it a lot but I ended up returning it I saw faint lines on low brightness and saw others that had the same issue hopefully their next version gets a better OLED panel.
Android supports webs apps! I am getting more confident in saying most people may not even need a desktop OS. I use one still for browsing but my tablet does a fantastic job for just about everything anyhow!
Yes, but to my knowledge you can't create a web app from ANY website. You can install a web app, like X for example, because it has an "install" button in google chrome, but on a website without that? To my knowledge you can't create a web shortcut, unless it's just a shortcut on your desktop, vs on Chrome OS ANY website can be turned into an app and hang out with your other apps.
@@AndroidDigest AH I see the power difference then. I actually ended up with a Macbook, couldn't find an android tablet + keyboard combo that felt as nice
Currently using the Duet 5, I'm thinking to upgrade but no idea to what, I'm thinking a macbook, tab s9 or wait till later in the year if anything interesting gets announced
Don't know if you can answer this, but do you know if you can use the stylus while the keyboard is connected? I've been looking and haven't found anything and I tried doing it and don't know if I'm doing something wrong... Thank you
the Duet 3,,, is the duet 5,,, but without a huge oled display,,,, fewer pixels, to move might mean the Duet 3 is faster ... last longer on its batteries ... cheaper,,,, in all other aspects they are the same
But you can get an 8 GB ram version of duet 5. At least in my country, I don't think I've ever seen a skew with 8 GB of RAM the 11-in version. I really don't think The larger screen would cause it to be any slower. If anything, it would help the battery life because OLED is more of a battery efficient. That said, you can make a compelling argument that 13 in is bigger than it should be for a tablet, I just don't know if that's a good enough reason to endure for gigabytes less of RAM. Especially when the price is practically identical.
Yeah technically there is an 8GB version of the Duet 3, pretty sure at least. I've seen it somewhere lol. A couple of inches on the screen wouldn't really make anything slower either, I agree with you. I do think there are some extra Duet 5 benefits, but I like the Duet 3 too.
I get what you're saying overall. I think the screen does look good, and there is a use case for it. But I think the battery life is pretty similar. You are right, the main benefit of the Duet 5 is simply the OLED and the bigger keyboard size, BUT some people might prefer the Duet 3 for other reasons.
As much as I love this tablet, it's due for a refresh. I'm still waiting for its alleged successor with next-gen MediaTek Chromebook chipset. Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 really starts to show its age, especially when it's essentially a desktop version of Snapdragon 720G/730/730G/732G mobile chipset.
I am on my second one. The screen durability is very questionable. The kickstand is not sturdy enough for me at all. Overall it's a great screen really good battery life. Speakers are very weak unfortunately. Performance and screen for the money is the value. It would be a home run if it had a sturdier detachable keyboard and stand like the iPad aftermarket keyboard are.
Yeah every country is different, find the best deal in yours! I wouldn't spend $700 new, but if every other item costs more, who knows, that may be a good deal there for all I know.
@@AndroidDigest it’s definitely a bad deal lol i shop around a lot and in my country (Portugal) every store is so overpriced compared to everywhere else
You mean Lenovo? What operating system? Edit: oh I see it, it's Android. Not Chrome OS but it does look really interesting. I would probably prefer Android over Chrome OS .. although the support for Chrome OS was like probably 8 years long ago, then Lenovo Android tablets.

I'm with you! I want a refresh
I just wonder if these have sold a lot. A tablet is perfect for my use cases but almost everyone seems to want a laptop.
Picked one up for 150 on eBay and it’s doing nicely. Basically what my old surface pro 6 was meant to be
Very good for that price
Great for the basics. Especially when it costs less than a magic keyboard or the mew surface keyboard.

It's great! Keep an eye out, tomorrow I'm talking about a NEW Chrome OS tablet.
Can you use the stylus and keyboard at the same time? I'm trying to find out if I have a setting wrong...
@@deanna8361 Yes I can. Though it sometimes does stop registering it. I fix it by taking out the battery and then putting it back in.

For sure! Hoping to see a Chromebook plus version

Yeah. Upgrading would be a big deal for someone that's had this for awhile. A lot of devices to look at
Good review ❤

I'm so tempted to purchase another one, but then I have a surface go which is working fine (for now) 🤷♂️
I would hold off. It's been 3 years, and there should be, hopefully, some exciting news coming up on the Chromebook front soon. Very soon

I imagine how an updated Chromebook tablet to the Snapdragon Elite would be monstrous🔥🔥🔥
I'm excited for the future
why didnt they just make it into a clamshell instead of the silly kickstand/surface form factor..
Maybe a detachable clamshell would be nice. I like the ability to attach and detach. But I like what you may be thinking
Just to clarify, there's no USB for a thumb drive. How would I xfer a pdf, say bank stmt to a thumb to keep?
maybe get a usb-c thumb drive, or buy a usb-c hub or something for like $15 on amazon.

I do agree 1000%
Is that fine to buy it in 2024? I just want tablet for entertainment and my kid wants to do something with stylus for drawing. Is it good for that?
Yes. It's still good to buy. Still plenty of years of updates. Just keep expectations in check with performance.
