  • I got a chance to try both Pro and Blue version of XR30 Radion G6 lights over my aquariums. Let's walk through a full review of the newly released lights, what makes them an upgrade from G5, how does Pro differ from Blue, and more importantly - how do my corals react and look under these lights!

      The problem for WWC for example is how high they have their lights - think the wider lenses are probably a problem for farms who have their lights high for SPS. Think it's much better for LPS though and for hobbyists who don't have them so high above their tanks ;)

    Great video, with very good comparison between the pro and blues to bad that you didn't put the orange filter for the blue ones. Next video have to be a comparison between G5 and G6 blues side my side.

    • @TreasureCorals
      @TreasureCorals  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good call! I don't think the orange filter would make or break the difference, after all - the camera is not going to pick up minute details and will add it's own interpretation of the color, that is why I tried to cover what I actually saw with my own eyes.

    Just bought an xr15 g6 blue for a 2ft cube. So would you say the blue is actually offering more par than our par meters are measuring? I've got acros at the top of my Scape and they were getting 200-250 par (lights on 100%) mounted 7" above the waterline so I actually lowered the light an inch to bring the par to 300+. Do you think I should reconsider this change? Thanks

    • @TreasureCorals
      @TreasureCorals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the G6 blue does offer more par and our par meters probably don't pick all of it up, so I'd be a bit conservative and then monitor the corals

  • @johnnyd614

    I still feel the gen 4 pro is the best Radion light. Maybe a bit more spread with gen 5 and gen 6, but nothing earth shattering for the corals and to the eye IMO. Great video!

    I have a 4'x2'x2' tank with 2 xr30 pros using the ab+ schedule. Do you have a recommendation on what point intensity I should use? I have easy sps and lps. It's my understanding that echotech does not like to tell customers what they should set lights at.

    Fantastic video.
    How would you "rate" the fan noise? I've read some saying its horrible and some saying they can hardly hear it unless they put their ears to the fixture.
    Having the tank in my living room (with an open top) I need the lights to be close to dead silent.

    • @TreasureCorals
      @TreasureCorals  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It will depend on where you have your aquarium. If it is a small room - you might not like the sound. But it is not louder than other Radions I had and you can specify at which point to turn on the fans as well.

      Здравствуйте, Антон. Я гоняю сейчас Джи5 на нескольких аквариумах - 10 часов синего света (все каналы на максимум) и внутри этих 10 я делаю 2-3 часа с добавлением белого на 20 процентов где-то. Все это бежит на 45-50 процентов максимальной интенсивности, но буду увеличивать до 80. Если хотите - присылайте имейл и я перешлю свои настройки.

    Does the more spread means less shimmer? Does G6 has less shimmer than G5? Also, the red leds in the Blues look pointless to me without the greens. Reds without greens only make it more purple while G6 is already more than purple enough.

    • @TreasureCorals

      There's not a lot of shimmer (if any) in G5, so I would doubt there would be any with G6. I don't have any shimmer in my G5 lit tank.

    • @TreasureCorals
      @TreasureCorals  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I think that the spread would be the biggest difference. The blue-ness would not be as noticeable. Most of my systems are lit by G5 and they are definitely solid. But that spread is nice.

  • @rw5510
    @rw5510 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought a pair of G6 XR15's and regretted it. I prefer the G5's. There is a strange deep maroon / purple colour that looks awful. I just could not get the right colour no matter how much I adjusted. The G5's have a fantastic crisp white light that I could not get with the G6's.

    • @TreasureCorals
      @TreasureCorals  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what you are referring to. I actually run both G5 and G6, now the trick with G6 is to bring down the RB channel to be about 75% of the Blue channel - can you try that?

  • @bopeep7806
    @bopeep7806 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Not keen, looks to much like a rebadged gen 5 which didnt quite cut sales expectation, gen 4 radions where some of the most revolutionary leds without a doubt, i would wait for gen 7 with a full overall of the unit, next will come increased size for better spread thats the way the industry is going, ecotech seem to be grasping at straws to increase spread without stumping up and making a new bigger chassis, you can spread led light with a new lense but there will always be shading the opposite way unless you increase the size of the unit to the size of the object your trying too light from all sides their prices are becoming a stumbling block for domestic home use too, maybe great for coral farm use, but i would stick with the bigger form factors like neptune sky ati stratton philips coral care and orpheks

    • @Harolddespui
      @Harolddespui 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are (many) people who like to have some shimmer though and you'll lose that with bigger panels. I'm definetely no fan of the Philips Coralcare and Sky because of the total absent of shimmer. The Ecotech sized panels are middle in the road. Good coverage + some shimmer.

    • @bopeep7806
      @bopeep7806 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Harolddespui i run ati stratton and i can 100 % tell you there is a lovely shimmer and no disco effect, the neptune light i have seen in person and as standard out the box has a very nice but more subtle shimmer, i have had ai kessil and radion, kessil are to much shimmer newer ai are quite nice and if you have the 64hd as there are more pucks the shimmer is some what more diffused, the radion has a disco shimmer effect which is not that blended even with a diffuser on the radion gen 4 with diffuser where amazing shimmer and less colour separation as the leds where closer together, also let me say this to you now all brands will soon follow suit with a bigger form factor, there is only so much you can do with optics they cant wrap light round corners, it makes sense to have a fuller coverage from all angles and no need for fans in some cases like the stratton as they act as a heat sink themselves too, i do think that smaller denser matrix lights like kessil redsea etc have a place in the hobby over soft or lps corals but to stop shading on sps most people have to buy fill lighting like t5 or reefbrites orphek bar leds etc ! Anyway i wish you every success with your aquarium

To begin with, I do not care about the purple look as I do not see purple when I am diving. IT is a great opportunity to buy some G5’s at a good price!
