I'm using the XR15 G5 for this video but the XR30 G5 is basically the same thing just with more LED.

Great work! Best reviews! No yelling at us and talking too much! The blue looks terrible. I bought two Pros due to you. The mounts suck and still do not sit straight. They droop forward placing uneven pressure on tank glass due to uneven clamping. This has been an issue for years and Ecotech doesn't care,

I check on the option but there's nothing set incorrectly. But I know sometimes YT have their features affected time to time, maybe it will resolve by itself overtimes?
Aqua Splendor well so far it’s been that way for me over my different generations of iPhones for quite a while. A lot of car shows on TH-cam are that way. I think when you check made for kids it takes it away but doesn’t tell you, the creator.

Welcome. I have a question, do you think 2 x G5 XR15 Pro is sufficient enough to light up 120gal (4'x2'x2') FOWLER tank using RMS mount (8" above water level)? Thanks
@@LouisChan198 enough? Yes! Overkill? Perhaps. These kind of light are made for Corals in mind, fish tank don't really need expansive light in my opinion. I would go with the Pro in this case also.
Well, the Radion XR15 is bit of my future proof, maybe change my mind that switch to SPS later days.

excellent video! Pro all the way and after seeing this and one other that actually showed the side by side helped me make my decision! I like the more natural look of the added white. # whites is so few! I think the lime simulates a wrm white to a certain extent though but what was making it hard is I want he cyan and the lime! Wh
y couldnt they just make the new model have those 2 color, lots of the big companys are using cyan. i was looking at illumagic and they are but Its a big strip light and I am upgrading soon so that wont work!

The Pro looks so much more natural and balanced with the colours popping super nicely when all diodes run together. Never understood why you want that super blue look, personally.

Great work!. Can you adjust sliders in PRO to make to match (more or less) spectrum of Blues? I am thinking of getting two blues and two pros, but I don't want to have two different beams of light in the evening.

Nice comparison, thanks for that. Did both lamps really have AB+ and the Pro did not have the default schedule for that? I thought AB+ should look pretty similar with both devices, besides the maximum power for that schedule
Yeah I was surprised also, I thought they would look almost the same so I got confuse by this.
I run the 2 different ab+ template because they got duplicated when you add the two different version to make sure I don't do a mistake. So yeah a bit confuse but not a big deal personally, I just use what they light can give me. I do run a little less warm white with the pro.
The pro version is mine. You can't set the Blue to white because it lacks the White LEDs, but the Pro can be set to blue if you want. So I think it's the better version. Too much Blue is not good and nice for many of the Corals. Nice Video
Some people would be surprised by the amount of blue when they see it white. That why I want a spectrometer!

So I agree with everyone else! This is the best comparison these lights on TH-cam. Showing the side by side change in the light colors in a tank was the best! Can you tell me, do you like your kessel ap9x more? I have to buy a light and either I am going to go with 2 pros gen 5 x15, or 1 kessel ap9x. I feel like the look of the kessel pops more more, but I can't tell in the videos. Any ideas? - Subbed
I don't have Ap9x, but that light will make your tank look "nicer" while two XR15 will spread more light I believe. Tough choice.
@@AquaSplendor Thank you for the quick reply, I am buying a light in a few hours and I think I will go with the Kessel. I feel like the ability to pair with Neptune if I decide to go that way down the road is what sold me. Also 1 light for a majority of LPS and fish will work well.

@@AquaSplendor Why does the abplus look so much bluer then? It seems they would look the same on both or similar. The ab plus on the pro is the same as previous generations and it looks bluer as well on youtubes i have seen. I have the pro but havnt hooked up par meter or to blue tooth yet so have it turned way down. My desk is next to the tank, so therefore I look up at the tank and it really hurts my eyes so might return for blue or just return al together for refund and use my noopsyches because the noop dosnt hurt my eyes looking up at it! Really a shame because I would love to keep them if the tank were across the room or something!

Can you recommend the colour percentages on the Pro you would use for chaeto?
Hmm I don't have any receipe, everything 100% than blue and royal blue at 50%.
After that play with the overall intensity start low, like 20% and if you need more just crank it more.

My Live Reef Store sold me the G5 blue to use for growing chaeto in my sump tank. I have only had this light for 2 days now but after reading tons about growing chaeto, I am now concerned that I should have purchased the PRO instead for growing chaeto best(it has way more red?). If the store will exchange the blue for the PRO, should I try to make this exchange or do you think that the Blue will work just as well?
Well that is a bad advice but... it is possible to grow chaetomorpha with the blue, it's just not efficient.
The pro would be better but, it's SUPER expansive light for just growing chaetomorpha, if you have the money, than, that's not a problem.
A 30$ light grow, is more than enough

What is the brand of the filter you are using for your camera?
I holding back this review for this filter because I don't think it's ready yet, i'm having different issue with it, so I won't mention their name but you know what, I could do a video with the one I currently have, maybe we could learn something!
witht the ab+ settings for the blue, did you have all channels turned up full? cos your supposed to.
I can't remember what the setting look like at that time sorry, but will check this later!
@@AquaSplendor Are you sure this test was done right? Did you think maybe you made a mistake somewhere,? Someone said something about tuning blue to 100 percent or maybe white I dont quite remember but I want to make sure because It dosnt make sense for ab plus to be run on both and be so drastically different and so blue. I have seen it run on brs and it look really nice and I started rethinking that maybe I should get blue. If this is done 100 percent right and its going to be that blue than NO I didnt even notice any more color pop either on the comparison. Just dosnt make sense! Great video though and even love the music you choose!

Seems like a great light at a great price. I am considering it to! Just wish it was a more attractive light lol I have been looking at lights for months really and 2 other good ones I am considering are th e maxspect razor and zetlite ufo 8300. Both of those lights have an insane spectrum with cyan and orange, 2 shades of red. Lot like a orphek but lot less money. I think that the 8300 model may have been discontinued though and replaced with and the newer model donst have all those colors but still as much as radion pro anyway and at 2/3 less of the price. I know they have the one with all the colors on aliexpress and all but little afraid of a fake and shipping taking forever I wish maxspect made alight with all the colors of a razor in this type of light with a mount!
With a Kessil A360X i never go beyond 20/25 with the color knob, so pretty blue. Should i take the G5 Pro or the Blue?

When you say you ran the ab+ program on both... Does that mean you ran the blues with the sliders not all at 100%? I think that's why your blue looks so ridiculously blue. I believe the xr15 blue is the ab+ spectrum at 100% all channels, where to get the pro to be ab+ spectrum it turns down the white. If you ran the ab+ program on your xr15 blue it basically turned the white lights way down...
They ran the AB+ template, on top of my head for Blue model its all the channel equally. The Pro have little variation to match.
I bought the blue G5XR 15 and I feel like its more cyan than blue while running ab+. I'm not sure if this is how the ab+ spectrum is supposed to look like. I've only had one other like RedSea LED 50
Yeah I'm not sure about AB+ Template anymore. They change couple thing between G4 and G5 for the LED so using a template from the last generation is almost pointless in my opinion. Personally I create my own template to fit my desire and taste and use what the light can offer.
The Cyan is a welcome addition, if people didn't have cyan before I think you have to accept it in your mind because I believe it's here to stay.
@@AquaSplendor I thought about returning the light but after you mentioned creating your own template I might play around with it a bit more this weekend before making the final decision. I didnt think I had to do this s im nce they advertise the blue as a plug in and play. "Just adjust the intensity ". I do think they disco effect improved with this version.
@@dannydaniel138 Well they are correct, it's plug and play, in 2 different way (without app, and with app and any template). The template is simply modifying the intensity of specific channel LED. If you create your own template, Start with all channel at 100% then reduce some channel until it fit your need. You can also change the overall intensity of everything at the end also. I selected AB+ and I put it at 20%, did some little modification, then 2 week after I adjust to 25% I might go at max 35% at the end I think. I also play with the threshold of when the Fan get active, right now the fan just don't run (still cold in my apartment) :P
@gotlucky2 another user of ReefLED 50 here. Are you satisfied with it ? I don't like that I can control only blue and white channels on it. How do you deal with this ? My feeling that with other leds like prime ai and radion you can control much more channels and highlight corals better. Much more flexibility. That's why I'm thinking to change to radion or prime ai. @Aqua Splendor I see you are using Prime AI for your tank. Do you consider to change it to Radion ? Or you satisfied with it ?
So if you want all blue you would keep only UV Royal and Blue. All other coloers set to zero?
Sure if you want this, keep in my mind what you want and what corals needs can be different.

It's the spectrum profile use.

Oh my god! This is so wrong... First thank you so much for all the hard work put into this video! Really appreciate the effort, I am in the process of deciding which one to choose. BUT.... the blue version is already set to the AB+ spectrum so you are comparing the lights and give wrong information out ! You had to compare the pro version set at AB+ and the blue version on 100% all on....this is so misleading dear friend.

Good question, not quite sure to be honest, I would have said in ideal situation 3 G5 if its SPS.
If your intention is to do mixed reef tank then probably 2 Radion G5.
If your tank is deep I would go with 4 AI Prime.
@@AquaSplendor 24" deep. Mixed reef mostly lps with some sps. Its pretty much the same cost. (4 ai primes) or (2 radion g5 xr15) so I'm struggling to pick the right choice
@@reefermadness4891 I would most definitely go with the Radions, I've used both and the Radions have much better colour mixing and are quieter, check out the BRS reviews as well. These new G5s crush the AIs

I wish there WASN'T a difference. For the price of them why cant they just have all the LEDs on one unit? With two options on the software Pro and Blue. That way I can do pro setting but still have cyan color
Yup I wish too, I think they vould easily do a compromise by switching some LED. But some people just want a specific color so they adresses that demand I guess

For how much you are paying I expect better quality. Some waterproofing like you mentioned, a better plastic, and there shouldn't be that much dust in that fixture coming from the factory.
In canada both unit with tax it was 1300$ can't remember the exact price. But honestly, one the top best light in the market in my opinion

Just my two cents why take the fixtures apart why not just look at the different colors in the spectrum that kind of didn't make sense to me but it's your light you probably just voided your warranty also

Yes and No, Depending on the crack Humidity can get in. I live in Canada so It's harder for me to get replacements.

Just wanted people to know that you shouldn’t waste your money on these lights. The price does not mean it is good quality. I bought an xr30 gen 5 pro from ecotech and it was broken straight out of the box and they wouldn’t replace the unit for me. Their customer service is absolutely atrocious. These people are money hungry and don’t care for their customers one bit
They do care a lot to their customer, they have a live chat on their website that I highly recommend.
@@AquaSplendor why does having a live chat automatically indicate that the company has good customer service!? That was a ludicrous reply to suck up to ecotech. Anyways the live chat will be mostly for sales mate. I bought a broken product and they pretty much just brushed me away and told me "I'm sorry you feel that way" when I told them I was upset they won't replace my unit. They never acknowledged that they sold a broken unit and would replace it.
