2024 Buick Envista Vs 2024 Honda HR-V - Which One Is The BEST Choice?

  • The 2024 Buick Enivsta is an all-new compact crossover. This new model is so popular that Buick dealers are having a hard time keeping any in inventory. Meanwhile, the 2024 Honda HR-V enters the new model year as a carryover model after a full redesign for 2023. The HR-V commonly presents the same problem for Honda dealerships in that they are hard to keep on the lot long. That is a great problem to have if you are in the car sales business but how do these two models measure up for potential buyers? See a side-by-side comparison in today’s Vehicle Visionary video to find out!

    My mom just bought a base Envista on my recommendation, I always recommend GM first due to parts availability and parts pricing, and how easy it is to find mechanics to work on them. Even though we get a lot of snow, nobody in my family has ever owned an AWD car. Only FWD and RWD. It really isn't necessary if you have good tires and know how to drive. The base Envista is the one I would always recommend due to the 17 inch wheels and non low profile tires. All terrain tires are available to fit the base Envista and should be decent in the snow with them.

Love that it doesn't have rear windshield wiper because that dictates an SUV look It has a great value with all the bells and whistles without the animated sound of a CVT with less torque power... Just wish the Envista trim had up grade in engine size like the Encore 1.3L will give it an ideal touch !! Maybe they will consider that in the 2025 Envista :)) Can't wait to purchase SOLD !!

    Envista for me.
    The lower power numbers on the Envista are a bit misleading because the vehicle is a lightweight, at its heaviest trim it's about the same if not lighter than the lightest HR-V. It doesn't need the same power to match the acceleration of other vehicles in its class. Don't get me wrong, it's not fast, but it's quick.
    Biggest question mark with the Envista is the engine longevity. If it's anything like the 1.4T, there shouldn't be any abnormal issues. Those motors have average reliability. Taken care of they will hit 200k before major issues, abused about 150k before having major issues. But no doubt being forced air induction it will be more prone to wear than any natural aspirated motor, regardless of manufacturer. I will say though, that 3 cylinder engine sounds pretty darn good at open throttle.
    Long story short, the HR-V is the safe option. The Envista is the exciting option.
    For my money I'm buying the Envista and trying to pay it off early.

    Buick is definitely more luxurious car. They make nice cars. I'd say the reliability is great just like any car that is well cared for and maintained. My dad was a Buick guy. I also owned a 2011 Buick Regal. Super nice sedan. I see the 1975 Buick Skyhawk in this model for some reason. When I was in high school my dad bought me a used yellow Buick Skyhawk it had a sunroof, fully loaded back then. Fun to drive. Except for its rear drive.

    The concept of a CVT in part is when you get to your cruising speed, the engine can run at the lowest possible RPM range. In a convential automatic, an engine may run a 2000 rpm at 45mph...2200 rmp at 50 mph, 2400 rpm at 55, and then any higher it drops back down to 2000 rpm at 60 when it can go into the next higher gear. In a CVT, with seemingly 'infinite' gears, no matter what your speed, 45mph, 50 mph, the transmission will eventually adjust to the gear that allows for the lowerst posssible RPM at ANY speed (2000 rpm in this case).

      Please don’t look at only HP to determine if a vehicle is underpowered, what more important is torque number and at what RPM it delivers and also the transmission gear ratio. I haven’t test driven this Envista but I had a Hyundai Elantra base model loaner when my C300 was in the body shop, the Elantra is 147 HP with only 132lbs/ft at 4500rpm but somehow it was so peppy and feel like 70-80% power of my C300 which has 225HP and 273lbs/ft of torque. We're currently looking at the Envista. Buick has come a very long way. It's a good-looking car with lots of features at a reasonable price. It drives, rides and handles very well. We own a 10-year-old CRV. It's a very good car and has served us well, but we keep our cars for about 10 years and we're ready to upgrade if we get the right deal. Our CRV only has 56,000 miles so we could drive it another 10 years if necessary. Honda makes a great car, but they've gotten more and more boxy looking. So, for us, the Honda is out.

    • @MikeD1101a
      @MikeD1101a 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The space between the rear of the car and where the rear window starts.
      There is a big difference for sure if you ever drove a sedan vs an SUV on a snow or even wet road.. In most sedans, the trunk provides space between the back of the car and the rear window. That area is big enough to prevent the spray/mist the car makes from covering the rear window. Drive a sedan on a slush/salt covered road and then drive an SUV on the same road where the window is right at the rear of the vehicle, and you will see the difference in a couple of seconds. Most sedans, the rear window 'starts' at least a foot, in many cases much more than that, from the rear of the vehicle, in the Envista, its a matter of inches.@@henrytenden

      See I am the opposite way, I always pick GM over everything else. Parts availability, parts cost, and availability of mechanics to work on them. My boyfriend has a Honda Fit. Nobody in the local area will touch it for a valve adjustment for example. Honda dealer won't work on it because it's "too old" (2008). Any mechanic here will work on any GM car. An entire engine often costs less than doing brakes on other cars. And in this case, the engine has been around since 2018 in other markets with no major issues. Don't confuse it with the 1.2 Puretech used in Opels. Different engine designed by Peugeot with a ton of issues. This is the 1.2 LIH which as far as I have seen is rock solid. And the car is much lighter than the HRV. My mom bought one and really it's incredible, from my perspective as a mechanic. So easy to work on (for a modern car), with plenty of room around the engine.

Cars used to have colors... greens, gold, rootbeer brown, different blues, etc. Nowadays cars are white, black, charcoal gray, silver, dark blue, or dark red. When I see orange, yellow, etc... those are the cars I want to drive. A car is basically a box with seats, wheels, and a steering column that goes from Point A to Point B.
