The Sport trim often offers a good balance between features and cost, while the EX-L, being a higher trim, might come with a higher price point due to its additional amenities.
The EX-L is clean but they whiffed on the rims. The black rims on the sports are CLEANNNNNN. Also, the engines needs a little more pep. 🚗 💨
The EX-L should have the same style wheel it has now, in the 18" wheels like the Sport. It looks way better with that size. The 225 series tires are one size smaller in with that the Civic Sport, probably for design, handling and ride quality reasons for the targeted consumer for the HR-V, including the lighter steering feel. Personally, I plan to get an Urban Grey Pearl FWD Sport with black emblems and wish the steering was stiffer like the Civic Sport, but it's okay. If I think the body roll on turns is an issue, I might get the slightly lowered and stiffer Eibach Sport Kit coil springs which may be the same as the Civic, since it's the same platform and some similar parts.
The 2.0L is reliable, dependable and with longevity for a reason, again for the intended consumer. Honda can choose to add a hybrid and/or Sport Touring Trim like the Civic, but that's up to them. You can get more pep without the K Tuner CPU flash by getting the Pedal Commander, which I intend to do. I don't work for either, just stating options. Both about $300.
I have to agree with you. The sport rims look more rich.
You can always get the rims painted gloss black with 2 coats of clearcoat, tint the windows and install better speakers
@@asimsherazi7305 I was talking about the 17" rims looking puny and should be 18" on the EX-L. Anyone can paint or do whatever they want to, but I was talking about the wheel size. They just don't look as good filling the wheel well like the 18" wheels and tires.
As far as the stereo, some say the Civic Sport and HR-V Sport and higher trims stereo sound pretty good for OEM, others not so much. But the same goes for the Bose system. Some rave about it, one reviewer said it was even better than the Acura ELS stereo. And some say those stereos are lacking, too.
I will go with the factory sound for a while, but probably upgrade to the Rockford Fosgate Punch 4 x 100 watt amp and Top level Punch speakers. I may add a subwoofer, but that may already be fine for me. That would be more than twice the OEM 180 watts with much more efficiency and frequency response with the upgraded speakers.
Tbh I feel like black rims look so outdated.
I recently purchased the 2024 HR-V Sport model. So far, I like it. It's also my first Honda.
Welcome to the club!!
thanks for this video!!! Excellent comparison!
You’re most welcome!
Good review i just subscribed!!
Also i been looking for a daily driver i think I'm going to check out a EX-L
Thanks!!! We truly appreciate the support! Good choice really.
I love ex-l in red. I think i will lease that trim. I think honda's red is so beautiful. Thank you for the video. It is really helpful.
Glad we can be of help! Appreciate the support!
I bought the 2023 honda hr-v sport in milano red like the one you have in your video about 6 months ago and I totally love it. Thank you! for the nice comparisons. I think the Hr-v along with Cr-v are good replacements for both of Hondas sedans.
Yea! I would go with the HRV myself. Just a great ideal car all around I believe. And RELIABLE!
Yes, and it's very easy to drive and no bad on gas mileage, nor is it ugly like some people have said.
I agree. It would be one of my first picks. Good luck and enjoy!
Keep it going with comparisons. You guys are awesome! EX-L if you are willing to pay extra! Sport will do too
Appreciate the support! Honestly we try our best and will hopefully continue to bring the reviews over to you.
I just purchased a 2024 Honda HR-V EX-L AWD, (Modern Steel Dark Gray Metallic/Black Leather) and love it! I just wish Honda had more color choices for the HR-V's! As well as the engine had more power!
I kind of like the limiting colors…. Kind of reminds me of when they limited the em1 so I’m only 3 colors… they ended up becoming collectors.
I saw the sport on the road the other day and it caught my eye. I was shocked to see it was a Honda. Those wheels should be on the EX-L as well - they make such a difference looks wise.
Right! They look really good. And they are very reliable!
A good friend of mine just bought one in the base trim…she loves it!
Nice! You looking to buying one?
I drive a ‘23 X3 M40i…couldn’t even make my consideration list…lol!!! 😂❤
Like the Civic LX, it is well equipped if you're not an enthusiast that prefers the Sport.
She’s not, and she always checks with me first…as do all of my male and female friends and family. They are all loyal to different brands, so I’m a real asset!!! ❤
@@clbernier2 The LX is great if she's not into the sporty stuff or wants to pay for the bells and whistles on the EX-L. Like I commented earlier, the LX Civic has a lot more than base models used to have for a good price. Good dependable cars with that engine. Just change the oil every 5K miles and transmission fluid when you should. 👍
Nice 😊
Was the video helpful?
Just got the EX-L, recently, in Nordic Forest! Love it! I DID want the black rims on mine, but they said they don’t do that! I’ll just have to get some later. Anyway, was looking how to turn off the ECON mode! I scrolled through everything, but didn’t see where to turn it off/switch the mode.
Typically if it has it then it will be on center console or left side of steering wheel
I think you missed some of the other upgrades like lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and the rain sensing wipers????? But all in all and very good comparison.
Thank you so much, we actually put the msrp sticker in the video so you guys get a better idea!
Just bought the 2024 EXL in black.Yeah, the
rims could be The better ones. but otherwise right now.I overall love it.😊
Good choice! Reliability is a great thing to have as well!
That’s the exact same one that I have. It’s an awesome car. I agree about the rims. I wish they were black like the sport model lol.
When you do a comparison you should do a different color from black because then it shows which trim pieces are gloss black normally and which ones are body color
Well thanks for the heads up! Will keep that in mind.
I heard the EXL has duel zone heater and ambient interior lighting and the other models do not. Is that correct? I am so happy to learn Honda is finally putting turn indicator light on the mirrors.
My 2017 Accord has those. Do you mean specifically for the HR-V?
The higher trims have that such as EXL. Dual zone is due to higher trim.
Hello i wanna know how to get the park lights blink like that..
They blink because of the filming. There is no option or setting for making the lights blink.
The EXL is only a $1000 more than the Sport and you gain: 1. Bigger info screen, sunrooof, leather, wireless charger, which are huge upgrades for the price. Love the wheels on the sport but the overall value goes to the EXL AWD. In NJ it goes for $31,500!!! Can’t beat the EXL value.
Yes I agree!!!
How do I open the trunk with my key fob? Do I hold it a certain time?
Did you figure it out. Should be a press and hold
Are HR-V's reliable. Started seeing reports of window leaks and back window shattering...... I think that was with the 2023 versions... not sure if that is the case with 2024 since they just came out.
Yes they are. The 2.0 engine they have is very reliable and a great pick if you are looking for a reliable car
I checked EXL navi in Vancouver today, it doesn’t have electrical control in seat
Interesting. The ones we filmed has electrical seats.
are you in Vancouver Washington. or Vancouver Canada. because on Canadian models there are some differences from the US version
@@danpettis1675 Vancouver Canada
I just can't with the EX-L snd the puny 17" tires/wheels. The Black emblems should come included for the Sport, instead of an option. Some dealerships are adding it themselves.
There's some perks of that the RX-L has, but no Bose Stereo like the Civic Sport Hatchback l, so I can do without, especially the sunroof. The manual adjust seats on the Sport are functional and less things to go wrong.
I already know exactly what I will add gradually, including setereo smo and soeaker upgrades fromy favorite aftermarket brand.
So you aren’t buying the HRV!?
@@VagabondBuilds I was saying the EX-L is just not my cup.of tea, I would take the Sport only, unless they made a Sport Touring Trim with all things that Civic trim has. But even better would be the turbo 2.O detuned Type R engine in the previous Accord Sport.
Great review. Honda does some weird things on different trim levels. Why would Honda just add a back pocket on the passenger side but not on the driver side. Really??? Friend had a 1991 civic dx…he got a rear side mirror on the drivers side but not the passenger side. Come on Honda…
Yea… haha well, all I know is it’s reliable lol
One thing that needs to be mentioned is that XM Radio is only available on the 2024 Honda HR-V EX-L.
Yes! Important. Sorry for that! Appreciate the info drop
I wish it had a manual option. I also wish Honda would have put the sport rims on the EX-L.
I have to agree haha!! I was thinking the same thing!
can't believe that they dont have an airduct in the back, barely any pockets or anything, im in the market for a small SUV since i have a baby on the way and live in a snow area and this car just missed all the marks of baby/kids sitting the back, no charging for their tablets, no pockets to put the wipes and baby stuff that will be needed, backseats do not move forward backward (even an inch) anyway the list goes on and Honda just left my list of considered cars since i dont want a bigger car like the CRV
But the reliability speaks for Honda I say. Low maintenance and cost. But thanks for your input
3:35 ugly orange peel on those painted fenders trim vs no paint of the sport.... nice video thank you
Glad we can help! Thanks for the appreciation!
Yay!
I take it you bought one ?
Is there a reason you prefer the 2.0 verses the 1.5 turbo in CRV! The turbo has a lot more power and better gas mileage in a larger car?
Yes. Naturally aspirated engines mean less problems to me. The moment you put a turbo on the engine you get more issues down the line. This is my personal preference and belief. I understand your point as well. I just been in the car scene and I would take the 2.0 all day.
@@VagabondBuildsAgreed. Honda specifically chose this engine for the intended consumer market for being reliable, durable, dependable with longevity. Whether Honda wants to offer a hybrid and/of Sport Touring Trim like the Civic, that would be up to them. I plan to get a FWD Sport and get the Pedal Commander.
Btw, did you mean HR-V?
@@VagabondBuilds Yes, I would prefer the N/A 2.0L over the turbo 1.5L, and so would Scotty Kilmer. That should be enough power and acceleration for me, but I would drive it in stock for to get to know how it performed for a while before hooking up the Pedal Commander. However, if I got a second car, if I don't get the present Toyota Camry SE before the go hybrid only, and change the appearance that I am not fond of, I would most likely get a Civic Sport Touring Hatchback, or maybe the Acura Integra A-Spec Technology Package with the Si version of that engine with 200(222) horsepower, if I wanted to spend $40K with all the OEM options and accessories I would want.
I would much more prefer the detuned turbo 2.0L engine from the previous Accord Sport, or even get the Integra Type S, but I don't need to drive that fast, and pay $60 grand for that, with all the OEM options and accessories I would care for it and drive it like The Car Care Nut stating in his guide to make turbo engines last longer.
Does it have Ventilated seats in the front for AC in heating?
No ventilated seats. They do come with heated
Now why wouldn’t they make the trunks automatic. And no charging in the backseat and no arm rest/cupholder smh it’s like they miss the most simple stuff
There are things we would have like to see as well just as a standard thing.
I wish Honda didn’t go turbo such a shame this is the only one
That is literally why I like the hrv so much. Also the pilot still comes naturally aspirated As well.
Just got quoted for a EXL AWD 34500 out the door is it a good deal?
Ummm…… not sure if I can help with that. Don’t want to be biased at all… 😅
Really ..that's 2 grand too much
If that includes the $1500 AWD and the dealership markup, typically $2-3K, it's expected. But if you can find a dealership that doesn't add on that much, it's preferable.
Just got to make sure it's with the delivery and all-wheel drive and blind spot. Than it's a good deal
Sport does it for me.
Awesome!
Exl> sport and I just bought exl everything here is better than sports
A big difference would be the insurance cost!
Really? I’m not sure… they both are four doors..
The EX-L trim is totally worth $2000 extra
I have to agree completely
hybrid please..
That would be cool!
Sport on a low torque vehicle is an oxymoron. How long will they this?
Some people also need to feel like they are going fast lol
its like suzuki swift :)
But it’s a Honda.
I like the sport better. Don't like leather seats
Oh nice… well it comes down to preference I say 😅
@hondausa IT NEEDS A BIGGER ENGINE. MORE HP
Then you get rid of the mpg….
The 2024 hrvs in jamaica looks way better than these...why tho?
Really!? What is different?
@@VagabondBuilds the entire design...
Just looked and you are so right. Why don't we have that design here? @@digoravas1986 @vagabondbuilds
17 inch wheels on the EX …deal breaker🤮
So you won’t buy just because of the rims?
EX-L has most value.
Yes! You are right! Was the video helpful?
@@VagabondBuilds yeah, helpful in proving that I bought the wrong trim in the Sport :/
Both trims are slow and lacking power
I mean, for the price. I think it’s a very well rounded car.
What do you drive?
It's basically a commuter sedan with a little bit more space and clearance. You ain't towing or off roading in an HRV.
Kinda glossed over the back seat of the EX-L didn't you? No connectivity, No AC vents, No centerarmrest; same as Sport.
Yes, same as the sport, sorry for the misunderstanding. I stated the only difference in the video for the back second row seat area was that door panel tweeter.
Comprei, não presta, muito barulhento, parece que a montagem do painel é fraca. Realmente, é um trator. e a garantia de honda é uma mentira, eles montam hestorias, espiam o LinkeIn do cliente, e não resolvem nada. IT Doesn't worth at all!!
That is unfortunate to here. But Honda in general wasn’t super high end. I think it all depends on preference.
They’re both junk that are either getting recalled or will get recalled…a warranty that isn’t honored and dealers that grift: th-cam.com/users/shortsfmGJc56wZkk?si=37o_Cjecyz0nz6xD
Interesting honestly.
This presenter really struggles with making sense. Maybe a script would help.
Sorry! Working to get better!
Front license plates are an abomination. Glad we dont need them in sask lol
Agreed. They make the car hideous. I try not to put them on but good ol California….
