Maybe Land Rover doesn't sell enough cars to get enough surveys and reports? They sell much less than any of the SUVs on the list. Also, most of the cars on the list were all new or nearly all new models (2-3 years after redesign). After several years, most of the kinks have been worked out. A first year model during a pandemic with labor and supply shortages will likely have a lot more problems than the average NEW vehicle. Most new vehicles have something like 1 problem (or what surveyed customers consider a problem) per vehicle on average (or around 100 problems per 100 vehicles) in the first 3 years according to JD Power. Many cars will have 0 problems, but a few lemons might have 10 or 20 or more problems. So a brand new generation model with teething problems or more lemons that year might average 1.5 or 2 problems per vehicle in the first 3 years and be in the bottom of the rankings. But even these worst cars weren't getting a huge number of cars with problems or a huge number of problems, just noticeably more than the average new car which is getting more reliable than ever. These weren't 5+ year old vehicles with high miles or well out of warranty where EVERYTHING turns to dookie in the least reliable models, but this was based on "predicted reliability" which is hogwash. You can't judge the overall reliability of a model based on its first year on the market...
BMW and AUDI too. They both sell more than enough SUVs to make CR's testing list, and are both more likely to break than a couple of the SUV's on this list. CR lost most of their credibility long ago.
I own a GV80 had it for more than 1 month and just breached 2000 miles. So far so good. I guess time will tell, but the part about it being too expensive is entirely subjective. The features that it has vs it’s competitors-Mercedes GLE, BMW X5, and Audi Q7, make it a good value.
Much agreed, my mom went from a Cayenne to a gv70 and she has 0 regrets. It’s got nearly 4k on it and has had no issues thus far. Interior is better than the Porsches in my opinion too, they did a killer job
LOL 30k mileage? Is that a bench mark for 1900's era cars? Today car bench mark is at 100k. And 60k is just a break in period of owning a car. In my opinion bench mark should be at 200k, where the Japan cars dominate.
@@Cbo__25 You're absolutely correct. Had a 2004 Jag S Type R and it brought misery into my life. Sold it to a friend who I warned about buying it. Have a Lexus now and couldn't be happier.
I had my GV 80 with zero issues for two years. It just got killed by a drunk driver, and its top safety rating paid off. I walked out without a scratch, with both cars being write offs. As for value, it’s got all the features of far more expensive cars except for the option for those people who want a 500+hp engine. I have no idea how it can be on this list.
I owned a Yukon Denali years ago and it was my most reliable vehicle ever. I drove it to 180.000 miles before I had my first problem. And the problem was a very minor problem. The SUV never broke down on me. But that was the 2002 model Yukon Denali.
Same, I had a 2005 Escalade, 2010 Escalade and 2016 Yukon Denali. None of them ever left me stranded. Of course I have this weird habit of doing routine maintenance.
@@ew403488 wow you got a good one. I took one home . For the weekend. I opened it up. Awesome ride. But when I too it back to the dealership. My check engine light came on.. BIG red flag for me. !!! I brought the Tesla. Instead
10K and 1 year? Dude a Russian car can do that! LOL. My 2011 Jag XJ Supercharged was built 12/10 meaning it is about six months away from being 12 years old. 96K miles, purrs like a kitty. Only replaced the water pump. Your HyunKiaGen will never make it to 12 years. 🙂"Best car I've ever owned" my azz.
@@trevorsutherland5263 i have kia with 200k still going strong. I intentionally drive hard too just to get an excuse to break the car and replace it but it just won't die. Never had Genesis but I heard nothing but great things so far
One if the smartest decisions I made was leasing a Land Rover…it was in the shop 12 times in the 36 months i leased it. It gave me the option of driving lots of other cars at the LR dealership. Jags, Other LR’s. What did I lease next? Infiniti FX 35. It was great…
Feel like this is a click bait title to get people who disagree to comment and move the video up the algorithm…it worked on me. Our 2020 XC90 had been rock solid and I haven’t heard enough negative elsewhere to justify a top 10 avoid rating.
German cars are expensive to maintain and I think over engineered. I've owned Volvo 850 cars since '94 and my most recent daily driver finally blew a few exhaust valves at 405,xxx miles although it still runs fine but a bit rough at idle. It was a work horse. They aren't cheap to fix. I finally bought a Toyota Camry and love it. Hyundai and Kia seem to be making great strides in their quality department. Lexus has always been a solid car. Mercedes and Land Rover love being in the garage for work and $$$$$ to fix. To each his/her own on vehicles. Buy what makes you happy.
Bmw,audi and benz care more about performance not quality anymore. The parts are beyond cheap and over prices and most don't even know they're built in north America and Mexico 😂😂😂 them shits ain't even real German cars anymore
@andy b classic camry, accord, highlander, sienna, fusion, are for intelligent people. They knows what they are doing, not what people thought about them. Volvo/Chinese cars went down in reliability in the past decades. Mazda quality and class go up, something that Hyundai/Kia also try although some defects is specific in USA factory related to engine assembly.
@andy b To each his own. I bought a new '22 Camry black night shade edition. It was the first model that didn't look like a family car but can hold a family. Gone are the days when I want to waste money on a vehicle that only gets 15 mpg. My Volvo cars were expensive to fix when they broke. Toyota has a great reputation for longevity. I like the car I bought. Nobody said you have to buy one.
@@rondhole you are insulting real car enthusiasts because they don't llike a camry and highlander. M5 AND AMGs are loved by real car enthusiasts not grandparents.
It’s a shame cause Volvo and Mercedes were both very reliable and million mile engine capable years back but yeah basically Toyota, Hyundai/Kia and Mazda are decent Hondas ok too at least their transmissions are getting more reliable
Half the time you spent on talking about the GV80 was about it's cost, which has nothing to do about the topic of this list. Proving you couldn't find much at all wrong with the car. But in regards to the cost, it's much cheaper than it's direct competition when similarly equipped.
lmao what are u talking about? GV80 can go for 65K for a 4 cylinder, so there is no value. I would rather get me a Lincoln Aviator, which is actually the true value king and competitor to the GV80 in the segment. Hell I'd even rather get the new MDX over the GV80 too since the Koreans is asking way too much and too confident. Aviator starts at 51K and GV80 48K, so on the first glance the GV80 is undercutting the Lincoln. However not only does the Aviator also has RWD, but comes standard with a base 3.0L Twin Turbo Ecoboost V6 with more horsepower and torque than either the 2.5 or the optional 3.5 of the GV80. Also in the GV80 you need to pay extra 11K on top of the 48K starting price to get the 3.5 (and still don't have as much power), so comparatively spec by spec, GV80 is more expensive. Of course the Black Label Aviator is most expensive than the GV80 but you get more ownership and membership features that you don't get in the GV80. Not to mention the Aviator is bigger vehicle and can tow and haul more as well. Hell even a front wheel drive QX60 mommy mobile can tow more than the GV80. Ecoboost is also proven to be reliable with the 3.5L reaching north of 300000 miles.
I have a Genesis G80 (not a SUV) for over a year and it's amazing. Also have owned a BMW 740 and a couple Acura. The cost and reliability can't be matched.
My 20201 Genesis GV80 Prestige 2.5T 300 HP RWD has been perfect. It is as near perfect as any car I have owned. There is so much quality built in that the $60K price tag is very reasonable. With 13,300 miles within 20 months ownership, I expect to have this car for a long time.
My wife has owned a 2018 Tiguan SE and the only issue she ever had, was one of fuel injectors went dead at around 30k due to a faulty connection, and it was covered under the warranty. She traded it in, at 48k, for a 2022 Tiguan SE. Neither car has ever given us any major issues. My wife absolutely loves her Tiguan. I had a 2018 Tiguan SEL and the only issue I had, was that the previous owner failed to get the recall done for the sunroof drains, and it leaked in a carwash. The dealership I bought it at, wasn't a VW dealer, and they weren't aware of the recall. Took to the local VW dealership for the leak and they replaced the sunroof drains, carpeting, sound baffling, and padding. Zero issues, besides the leak, and I loved having it. Traded it at 65k, for a 2018 Atlas SE w/tech, and had that for 2 yrs. Traded it earlier this year for a 2023 Atlas SE w/tech and can't see myself driving anything else.
Nobody should brag about having zero problems after one year of purchasing a new car, sounds like you expected something to go wrong and it exceeded your expectations so congrats on that
@@dabbadoo2226 I agree! But it’s a Genesis. The type of buyers of the GV80 have no clue what to expect from these products. They’ve been _told_ by the internet it’s a luxury vehicle of German build quality but Japanese reliability and all they know is it has the surface beauty they’re looking for and they’re saving a few pennies. But the *reality* is it’s neither German nor Japanese, it’s South Korean and Hyundai Motors who is notorious for class action lawsuits here in the U.S. makes them. So when they reach 6 months, 7 months, 8 months, etc. of little to no issues these customers are eager to deem them “reliable” as they don’t have many other real world examples to go off of and it’s just nerves and wishful thinking. Just ask MotorTrend how “reliable” their 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T was. As they approach 100,000 miles the Hyundai/KIA family ties will begin to shine though.
Take these lists with a grain of salt. Volvo makes an amazingly well built car. Gv80 another amazing car and it's not over priced. They offer more and better warranty than the German cars that cost 15-20k more. Lists like this are made to get views.
The main problem with the new Volvos is the downsizing of the engines. I got 2 old XC 60 and had over 500 000 kilometers with each and no problems. When I leased a new XC 60 I kept the last old one and I was an good choice. The 2 litre engine with 313 hp is not very durable and resulted in lots of problems. So I handed it back and use now my old but reliable 2.4 litre D5 again until I got my new all electric. he engines
I definitely don't feel the GV80 is overpriced. It's surprising the issues with the Benz GLE and the fact that they still sell tons of them. Glad the new MDX didn't show up on this list.
Got my 2.5 Prestige last year and now I can't find any car that is even close to compare to pricewise. I need to get another this year it will probably be a Palisade.
GV80 is an amazing deal. In exchange for less power and less refined engines you get an incredibly luxurious vehicle. I put my mom in one and have been eying it ever since. Really weird that he’s calling a vehicle that pretty much every single car reviewer has called a great package for its price point overpriced.
If you do have a issue with you're GV80. Then Hyundai/Genesis will come drop off a loaner and pick yours up for repairs. Then when its complete they will bring your car back. It isn't a problem for me when ill be in the same vehicle regardless and they are taking care of ANY issues
CR has become increasingly biased in recent years. I cancelled my subscription once I noticed this trend. I am by no means a GM fan, but to say their full size SUVs are the least reliable is just plain irresponsible. When a vehicle can go 200K miles with relatively minor repairs, it is far from unreliable. The Lincoln Aviator had 1 recall but is higher on this list than the GLE with almost 40? Tells you all you need to know about this list....
@@Chris-de2qc Most reports of vehicles that will last 200K miles or more include the GM full size SUVs. I consider myself a car guy, so I am almost always reading owner reviews and looking at this type of "Top XXX" list. I've personally had a Yukon and Tahoe that both went over 200K without any major repairs. Regular maintenance and a couple fuel pumps, and that's about it. I've had poor quality vehicles as well (one is one this list), but I stand behind my statement that CR is no longer an unbiased resource. They solicit reviews from subscribers, of which they may get a few hundred or maybe a thousand for a particular model, while the manufacturer sells thousands or even hundreds of thousands of these vehicles. Also, there is no way a list of unreliable vehicles is accurate without a Range Rover.
I agree with you. I too cancelled CR subscription. I have seen them indicate low ratings on particular vehicles when there is other vast compelling evidence to the conntrary.
I have a 2109 xc90 r design and it was 2 years before I even opened the hood and I only did that because I realized I had no idea where the latch was. Its been the absolute best car ever

Interesting about the Genesis considering I’m about to purchase one and I’m so thorough that I read comments on so so many viewed videos and I’ve never really read about anyone having reliability issues. It’s mainly praise for the car. Sometimes these videos are misleading
I have a 2021 gv80, AWD 3.5t advanced. Drives like a dream. No problem so far. I mistakenly increased the pressure in the tires during winter. Caused the wheel to feel strange. I put the pressures back in factory numbers and it purred like a cat. I love my car, though I paid $4000 above mrsp. No regrets. Always brings a smile to my face when driving. Previous cars owned were Saab, Infinity, Mercedes and Acura. I stand with my GV80.
The videos are misleading or the anecdotal reviews you read in the comments are misleading? At the end of the day people are going to believe what they _want_ to believe and do what makes them happy regardless of what they find. 🤷🏾♂️
I have 500,000 miles on my Lexus LX450/Land Cruiser and I love it more every day. Get an 80 series Land Cruiser and spend the money to restore it. You'll never regret it. They are built to last.
My wife has had a 2022 Lincoln Aviator for a year now & has had no issues. 85% of our vehicles we've owned have been Lincoln's but since they stopped making sedans, I switched to a Genesis G80 Prestige & absolutely love it! IMO, Lincoln has gone downhill since they switched to an all SUV lineup. Yes, the wife's Aviator has had no issues (YET) but it's built extremely cheap using a lot of plastic parts. My G80's interior is far more luxurious, more comfortable, 1000x quieter in the cabin & has a lot more safety features including smart cruise control for almost the same price point (our 2 vehicles). A Lincoln Aviator Black Label is about $85k whereas a Genesis GV80 Prestige is around $76k which both have all the same fully loaded features so not really understanding them saying the GV80 is expensive. This video seems to have all the luxury SUV's so which SUV's should be paying attention to that are "reliable?" LoL
@Richard Forbes LoL! Your comment made me chuckle. Hate to break it to ya, but all of American automobile companies (excluding Tesla claims of being 100% American made) have been installing numerous foreign parts in their vehicles for decades, so technically, you have never owned a 100% American made automobile unless you have owned or own a Tesla. I assumed every American adult would have known this information nowadays, but I shouldn't assume things as everyone learns at their own pace. Something else you should be informed about - China is a major stakeholder with Ford & GM; they own 50% of Ford and 49% of GM. You're talking to someone who customized his cars to the extreme inside & out for the 1st 10 years of having his license. I had a Grand Am GT with a full custom air ride suspension, and although that car felt like I was riding on a cloud (just as you stated), my G80, believe it or not, rides 10x smoother than the Grand Am did. That should already be a given seeing that technology advances with time, therefore it would only make sense that a 2021 luxury vehicle would have a smoother ride than a fully customized 2000 Grand Am GT air ride suspension. That's 21 years of innovation in the works. Lastly, there are a few things to say here.. 1) I'm still trying to understand why you threw your two cents in stating that imports are junk and they are worse than ours?.. You JUST said "I'm not really a Ford guy but I would buy anything before I bought an import." That tells me you have never owned a foreign luxury vehicle so we're supposed to take advice from someone who claims to have knowledge about something they obviously know nothing about simply put - you have never experienced it 1st hand 2) since my original comment a couple months ago, the Aviator had to go in the shop bc one of the cheap plastic pieces on the interior broke and had to be replaced. Betcha can't guess where that part was made and shipped from?🤣 3) you stated all I'm doing is sending my money overseas.. actually, what's really happening is the bank that approved my auto loan is taking my money until the loan is paid off. The dealerships are the ones doing direct business with auto manufacturers in other countries so technically, they are the ones "sending their money overseas." Sorry about this. I just thought it was appropriate to explain the facts of what's actually going on. If you want to continue with your current way of thinking, please, by all means, go for it. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
Didn't have an SUV but my Altima transmission died on me in the Chic FIL A drive thru. Lol. Had to be pushed out by two ladies. They gave me my food for free. It was a bad/big issue. Ive heard a lot of good things about the Genesis GV80 from forums and diff message boards. Reliability issues must be very isolated. That said all manufacturers have issues including Lexus/Toyota and Honda/ Acura.
Always bought on CR recommendations, but the loved the G70. It has a so-so review for the 4 cylinder, but they didn't review the v6. , which was priced $10k less than a Audi S3, and blew it away. Found it very odd they don't review the 6, as it is a big seller.

So, my dogs would agree with this vid but not for the stated reasons.
@The Real Cat of 2020 yes, the GV80 doea have a 10 year 100k mile warranty and may get fixed under that warranty. 1st=what will the owner of that vehicle drive when it does break down, especially if it does break down more often than others. The warranty does not come with a loaner vehicle. Lincoln does have loaner vehicles. 2nd= A lot of their dealership techs don't want to do the warranty work so they will come up qith a reason not to honor thw warranty. The newer a vehicle, the less reliable it will be. This is why there is an odd year where a company does not plan for reliability but manages to eke out a top spot. Consumer Reports also has faulty metrics for gauging a cars reliability. It's based on consumer surveys and early reliability issues. Early problems are not indicative of long-term care. The vast majority of issues reported tend to be user adoption rather than something breaking. For instance, how to use a new infotainment system. The consumers of these vehicles have varying metrics and standards they expect in a vehicle. Someone buying a Mercedes is expecting something a bit more than a person buying a Toyota. It's basically asking the opinions of a car enthusiast verse a person who treats a vehicle as an appliance. Reliable vehicles depend on their simplicity, power train and material choices, and consistency of construction. These can all be analyzed to draw conclusions on reliability beyond 5 years. There are rarely actual reliability issues under 5 years.
@@chrisstromberg6527 I meant it as in an old platform still in manufacture like the Dodge Challenger has been in production since 2005. A new Dodge Challenger would be far more reliable than a new Grand Wagoneer.

I can confirm one of problems with the 2020 Ford Explorer: Brand new, and we experienced leaks from the Transmission, so often. Parts had to be ordered, and car would remain days at the dealer for repairs. We had to take it 4 times, until we had enough. Not even a year and so many issues. --- So, turned out to be a Lemon. Ford had to buy it back. It was our 3rd Explorer,...so we were kind of surprised how sucky this new redesigned model turned out to be.

Because they knew it was a lemon. !! Never again. Worst car ever made. !! One week later I got a letter from the ford corporate office. Telling me about a another car. NO thanks !!
Brought a brand new Escape. Worst car I have ever owned. Has been to the shop three times in less than a year. Now dealing with a lemon law attorney. Bad brakes, transmission and fuel pump.
Same here. My 2017 Ford explorer started having issues within months. Transmission of course. I love the ride and look but I will never get a Ford SUV. Ford pick ups are better but the explorer sucks.
I never considered Consumer Reports in my car research for my car purchase. Consumer Reports only highly recommend Toyota, Lexus, Honda, and Accura. The rest are just not good enough for them. I don't buy the GMC aspect. Wife had a Diesel colorado that went up to 120K miles before she traded it in a new Sierra (also a diesel). Sis in law has a Chevy Tahoe and so far seems good. Literally the whole family is a GMC family and it works fine
I can say I’ve purchased 2 (Buick Enclave and Pontiac Torrent). Both had so many issues. AC failure at 14,000 miles, body was easily dented and so many electrical issues. Visit the GM forums to see how many have premature failures. I didn’t expect much from a Pontiac, but was extremely disappointed with Buick. I would never purchase another GM, my money would be better spent calling an Uber. My experience with owning GM vehicles
We once had a rental car, and it was a Jeep renegade. There was lots of buzzing coming from the back axle at higher speeds(45-60 mph). The center consul also shook a lot and the overall build quality was absolutely horrible.
Had a Mercedes SUV years back, fantastic car but It broke down on first holiday trip in Switzerland great service with the dealer taking part off showroom display car, that was the only issue in 100’000 miles, then got the first of new shape Volvo XC90, launch car and lots of problems on the electric controls, after several attempts to fix with software updates Volvo gave us a new car, I’m now on my 3rd, fantastic car with no issues anymore
2021 Lincoln aviator black label GT owner here, can’t wait to offload this car. Ride quality is a dream, and its very VERY versatile, however, with the amount of time I’ve had it being serviced and in the shop I’m done with Lincoln after this lol.
@andy b My Passat is a lemon. It has just under 100,000 miles on it, and needs the moon roof re-done for the third time. Standing water in the driver's side foot well. With all the other repairs it needs right now, it totals over $8,400, which is far more than the worth of the car. When I took it in for servicing, the guy told me they were really busy, as there were lots of cars in for leaks. It has been an awesome touring car on road trips, but otherwise has been a mess. The first time it had to be flat-bed taken to the dealership was the day after we bought it. The next time was a couple of weeks later. All the mechanical stuff we have been through sealed the deal for me. I just bought a RAV4 hybrid, and am very happy with it.
The only thing I learned in the video is that Land Rover still spends a lot of money to lie with statistics. No way the Range Rover didn’t make the list. -signed former Range Rover Sport owner.
This list is mostly accurate besides the Genesis GV80. The GV80 is a very safe SUV and if you wanted to talk about reliability, take a look at other comments. Some people have had them for over one year and still are not having issues with them. You also said that people have issues with the transmission. This car's transmission is solid because it's the same one they were using in the original Hyundai Genesis. I know someone who owns one of those, and the transmission is solid. Also, this vehicle is not overpriced. The base tier of this car has 300 horsepower and stunning luxury features some of which aren't even standard, let alone available, on most of its competition. Not a whole lot can compete with that. The top tier competes with luxury SUVs that cost upwards of $85,000. This car actually is a decent deal. Also, when a manufacturer puts a 100,000 mile warranty on a car, you're going to be just fine while owning it. Hyundai has a garbage past, but they've changed a whole lot.
Hmm I dunno about this. We have a '21 Aviator and other than a rear view camera recall we haven't had any problems with our Aviator. Also they said they had the most comfortable seats of any SUV. No they don't, at least if you have the 30way massaging seats. The seat bottoms get really hard after a couple hours behind the wheel. If I got another one I would pass on the over-rated massaging seats in favor of a little more cushion on the butt...:)

I really like the looks of the telluride. I had considered buying one, until I found out you can only get one by ordering, you would have to wait three or four months to get it, in the dealer wanted $5,000 over sticker price. Then my daughter's Hyundai Tucson engine blew. They told her 18 months for warranty repairs. Nothing but a runaround from the dealer. There is a major class action lawsuit for the hundreds of thousands of blown engines.
Car and Driver magazine thinks that the Telluride is a great 3 row SUV and gives it a very high rating (see their most recent issue). Consumer Reports magazine also rates the Telluride very highly (high numeric score). I assume their reliability survey was also good.
@@johnw9245 they never rate cars as Best buys on their reliability. They have no clue what kind of reliability a car will have when they pick it. Nobody knows that for years down the road. There have been many topics that ended up being junk a few years later.
With the GM/Chevy Yukon/Tahoe being based on the large fullsize SUV's category, what other manufacturers have vehicles in this category? Ford Expedition and?....... Being in a category with 2-4 models from difference manufacturers makes the odd's of being on the list much higher, Also I would say you see 8-10 tahoes/Yukons on the road to one Expedtion, as mentioned, they get used in high mileage application's like Limo's also I see the Police using them in certain places also. My mom has been driving Tahoes for years, I don't remember the model year of her current one, but it has 150,XXX miles on it right now, and its hasn't been to mechanic for any major work, not even middle of road type repairs, this is truck also driven in the upper midwest where it see's harsh winter conditions, and it is also used to pull a enclosed car trailer for hundreds of miles. That said, GM did recently switch to a all new independent rear suspension on these SUV's, so it is not vetted model as of yet, as rule of thumb you usually want to avoid owning any brands first year model updates because they come with unforseen issues.
I own 2019 Ford Explorer Sport with the 3.5L twin turbo EcoBoost engine, which has performed flawlessly for us since day 1. AFTER this model year is when the current issues appeared.
I had a Volvo, I can say the first year and 3rd year it was in the shop often. I currently have a GV80...I haven't had one issue at all. A friend of mine has the GLE 450, he swears he'll never get another Mercedes after driving it.

He also dislikes the quality of the transmission...his previous vehicle was a BMW though, so it makes sense. They simply make better cars than Mercedes.
That’s not entirely true at all. I went from M cars to AMGs and it completely depends on what you are looking for. Nobody in their right mind would ever say BMW makes a smoother more Luxurious car than Mercedes. That’s absolute nonsense and is coming from someone who has never owned one and their friend clearly got a lemon. However, if you want sport over luxury than BMW is hands down the way to go. You’ll l find 9 out of 10 people who hate on Mercedes bmw etc are hating from the outside looking in as they could never afford one. @@bustanutist I'm not hating on BMW's or Mercedes. I traded my X5 for the GV80...there are things I like more about the BMW, there are things I like more about the Genesis. Over the course of my life I've owned 2 BMW's. The first was crap, the second one was great, both were new. I would never buy a Mercedes though, and I can easily afford anything in their lineup. Reliability has been a thorn in their side for years. In my friend's case, he got a brand new GLE, two of the recurring issues ended up in a recall. It's all a matter of opinion regarding what one likes and is willing to deal with. I think Range Rovers and Land Rovers are beautiful turds...some folks swear by them though. My girlfriend picked up a new Kia Sorento SX Prestige. The transmission is so clunky and bad. She likes the car, but I've owned Acura MDXs and they are a night and day difference when it comes to shifting. In the Kia there is a noticeable lag between second and 3rd gear shifting that is infuriating.
This type of list is very useful to warn owners agaist potential mistakes to avoid when thinking about a vehicle purchase. However, I don't think CR is being totally clear with us. I have seen CR reports give low reviews on vehicles which had compelling evidence from other sources indicating the opposite. Also, they put the Kia Sorento on this list at #2 commenting on the dual clutch transmission being bumpy in stop and go traffic. This characteristic is normal with DCT transmission and you can adjust your driving to avoid this. They also failed to tell us if this comment also applied to the Hyundai Sante Fe with the DCT transmission as this is the sister car to the Sorento. Hyundai owns Kia. I would advise buyers to give a broader check of their reviews and not totally rely on this CR report.

Sad that Ford and GM vehicles are so unreliable. One would believe that Land Rover vehicles would dominate this list, as they have a well deserved reputation for being highly unreliable. At the opposite end of the reliability spectrum sits Toyota and Lexus. Their SUV's aren't the highest tech or prettiest, but put oil and gas in them and keep on running.
I purchased a GV80 Prestige in March of 2022. With over 16,000 miles it is a wonderful vehicle. Perhaps i got lucky but it has never had a problem other than me destroying a tire in a pothole. I would purchase another in a New York minute if anything happened to this one. I also disagree with the statement it is too expensive. I looked at BMW, Lincoln, Lexus, and Audi. The fact that a Range/Land Rover isn’t on this list takes away it’s credibility.
Absolutely. Not to mention Consumer Reports and JD Power lists have long been known to have zero credibility.
If you couldn’t tell by the cheap ads in the video itself lol

Mercedes and Land Rover love being in the garage for work and $$$$$ to fix. To each his/her own on vehicles. Buy what makes you happy.

@andy b classic camry, accord, highlander, sienna, fusion, are for intelligent people. They knows what they are doing, not what people thought about them. Volvo/Chinese cars went down in reliability in the past decades. Half the time you spent on talking about the GV80 was about it's cost, which has nothing to do about the topic of this list. Proving you couldn't find much at all wrong with the car. But in regards to the cost, it's much cheaper than it's direct competition when similarly equipped.
You need to go back and check the times. He literally spent more time on the problems than the cost
Especially the repair and maintenance cost!
lmao what are u talking about?

Fan boy detected.

Lol a fanboy who bought into the Korean junk hype.
I definitely don't feel the GV80 is overpriced. It's surprising the issues with the Benz GLE and the fact that they still sell tons of them. Glad the new MDX didn't show up on this list.
GV80 is worth it. Love mine.
Got my 2.5 Prestige last year and now I can't find any car that is even close to compare to pricewise. I need to get another this year it will probably be a Palisade.
RDX is missing too. That’s a good thing.
@BearPaw Which brand?
Exactly what I was thinking looking at this list. Seems just a blind list.
Your are 100 percent right
Your vehicle may have been the % that was ok. You're not looking at overall stats.

Interesting about the Genesis considering I’m about to purchase one and I’m so thorough that I read comments on so so many viewed videos and I’ve never really read about anyone having reliability issues. It’s mainly praise for the car. Sometimes these videos are misleading
This video was way off on the GV80!!!!

You mean the company? You’re basically saying older cars are more reliable which really isn’t the case
Our 2018 Suburban was bought brand new, we have had no reliability issues! The used car we bought for our daughter, well that's another story!

Thank you

I've had my explorer since 2003..have 150 000 miles on it..last explorer to be built on a truck frame..have no problems with it other than replacing a/c compressor..but living in az u use the ac year round..ac gets quite a workout..still have it and it carries everything in the back..a great vehicle..
My xc90 saved me from a car crash and without getting my insurance involved. I'm not sure if they need to be on this list. Also, what do you drive?
Hey, my worse new car experience 2016 Hyundai Elantra , I stared get problem engine stole when I drive in city speed , but dealership do noting
I’m on my fourth Land Rover/ Range Rover. Never had issues with any of them. Tried an Audi and kept it for 18 months of which two months were in the shop. Could wait to get back to RR.
Worst car I've ever owned. LAND ROVER. My God what a nightmare.
Not sure if you are getting new or not. I’ve owned 1 new 96 Discovery and 4 Range Rovers. The 2004 Range Rover was the most reliable, but still man the maintenance was over the top and stuff started breaking around 90 K miles.
Don't believe this lol. Must've gotten rid of each one after 3 yrs max, that's why you "never had issues with any of them".
@@theGiver3 Had my first one for four years but had the chance to upgrade. Second one for eight years. Third one is new (8 months). My wife’s is twelve years old. Paid for extended warranty on the first two and my wife’s which turned out to be a complete waste of money. Average 25k a year. I know they have a poor reputation and perhaps I’ve been lucky but it is a mistake to think that they all break down, all the time. They don’t. Believe it.
The Volvo complaints about bumpy rides on rough terrains, you got to be kidding. So in other words WTF
I never experience that on my 2017 XC90.
for real... I did a review on my '16 XC90. I address all the common issues. It also does not have transmission issues as stated.
True
The first Volvo we got was a 2016 XC90, never had an issue what so ever and just felt like a tank, you felt safe in it. We returned it when the lease was over but I still miss that car.
When I test drove it, it sounded a little tinny.
I bought a 2002 tahoe new. It went to 260k miles. I drove it to the snow all the time. It feel if I dropped a $1000 it would went another 50k miles no problem. 90% of time I used synthetic oil and always got oil changed w/ most rec services on time. Best Car I ever owned.
Correction. 2022, right? 🤔
What does Body Integrity Issues mean? There doesn’t seem to be a definition I can find via Google.
Thank god no Dodge Durango. My 2018 Durango V6 has been pretty good. Only issue is sometimes there a glitch with the radio when it rains for a long time.
I have a 2012 V6 Durango with 140k on it, only think I've had to do is replace the radiator because it sprung a small leak and I didnt want to have to refill with coolant all the time. Still cruising though!
I have a 2016 Durango. 45000 miles, Not one single problem.
I’ve got a 2011 Durango with 150k still cruising I might swap a 392 in it at some point 😏
I have Durango Citadel 2015,No issues as of today, still running smooth, change Radiator under warranty as it has small leak, some lights out, needes replacement. That's it
Durango is too simple to have many problems.
I have the Kia Seltos and it has been a reliable car. Sure there were bugs at first but Kia has good at squashing them.
Zero problems with mine. CR is biased towards certain manufcturers. It is obvious they do not like Kia. Must not get enough donations from then.
Totally agree “predicted customer report” dosent make any sense, this list is bullshit Kia, genesis, Volvo like seriously???
I own a 2021 kia Seltos sx turbo and love it. No issues at all.
XC90 I would still buy
1:06 Volkswagon at number 10
2:20 Volvo at number 9
12:00 Lincoln Aviator at number 2
We just bought the 2022 GLE 350 2 weeks ago. This is before I saw this video. But I am hoping that they have fixed the issues from 2020 to 2022 with the new 2022 model. I will keep you posted.
So far, we love the car and the drive is awesome. Interior is excellent looking as well.
Any issues so far?
@@azher191 Just when it's raining, the water somehow collects in the middle. But the ride quality and the comfort is excellent. My kids love the LED color changes and the panoramic sun roof. I normally drive it in comfort drive and it's sufficient for City driving especially with traffic. Better gas mileage than our old 2008 ML350.
@@slash2freeze nice. But the water collects where? On the roof?
@@azher191 In the front windshield. So it's harder to see with all the water collecting in the front windshield. It didn't help I was driving at night. But day time driving with rain was not an issue.
You are wrong about the XC90. Most issues with the car were electrical/infotainment related which have been addressed with newer models. The Engine was revised too and it definitely does not have transmission problems. If it does, then the Lexus RX350 would to since they both have the same transmission. This is coming from an owner... and I did a review on my channel if you guys want to see.
I have an XC90 too. What's the spec on your daily
The fact that Land Rover didn’t make this list tells
@@bradleyscarreviews Exactly
@@nkulid424 T6 Inscription. Every Option. =) But I bought it used from the dealership non CPO.
Had a 2018 Tiguan. Body defects and water leaking into the passenger side when raining. So glad it was just a lease.
But I have to say, VW seems to be responsible. We got a few thousand back. They also offered $2500 extra for another VW and we didn’t go for it.
Have a 2013 right now and it’s junk. Will never buy another VW after this one
I had a 18 also bought it brand new actually the same color as the one in the video i never had an issue with mine, only had it 2yrs then i upgraded to the 2019 Atlas SE and I never had an issue with it either i loved them both....but i did just traded for the Volvo XC90 it was my dream Truck a month after having it the check engine light came on but the dealership took care of the issue it was under warranty, it was some type of sensor needing replacement no other problems with it since
@@MP-hi5hs u got to do maintenance on time it's that simple.
I’m glad the Telluride wasn’t listed…I’m very interested in getting that.
Please please save your money. 78 thousand miles on mine. I’m on my second transmission !!! .. never again.!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡
Makes me happy that we own bought new..2019 and 2020 Santa Fe SEL models..
They are a real pleasure to drive with zero problems, plus get X-Lent MPG.
I had my Gv80 for over a year. No problems at all. If u have any problems, they have a concierge service that is pretty good. Dont believe the HYPE!
UPDATE...3RD YEAR NO PROBLEMS!!@
I own 2019 Ford Explorer Sport with the 3.5L twin turbo EcoBoost engine, which has performed flawlessly for us since day 1. AFTER this model year is when the current issues appeared.
I had a Volvo, I can say the first year and 3rd year it was in the shop often. I currently have a GV80...I haven't had one issue at all. A friend of mine has the GLE 450, he swears he'll never get another Mercedes after driving it.
I’m thinking about getting a gle or even gls, why do you think your friend would not get a mb again?
@@rosellebn Because he's had it for 12 months and it has been at the shop for craftsmanship issues on 9 different occasions. He just got it back yesterday after 2 weeks in the shop. This time It would randomly pop the rear seat forward as if someone were trying to get in the 3rd row...but while he was driving. 3 separate occasions the battery died and the auxiliary battery would drain quickly too.
The other 1 out of 10 bought a used one with 200k miles on it and complains that it has problems.
I've driven several Benzes over the years, I think they're nice, but grossly overrated. I enjoyed driving BMW's and Audi's more for sure. But that's me.
@@221ddj You have some goofy opinions there and fit the categories I just described lol. A Benz is overrated but a 70k Hyundai isn’t?? Hmmm. If you could afford anything in the benz lineup, you wouldn’t end up with a Hyundai. You’d be rollin in a S63 stop that nonsense, it’s very transparent. As for Hyundai, everything they do is to mimic higher end cars for people who can’t afford the real thing. Again, you’re exactly who I just described in the first comment.
I drive a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali XL with 202,000 miles! Awesome truck no complaints. Ride like a 2022! Put new tires, tune up & oil changes. Going to do new paint job.
I own a tow biz, #1 frequent riders are BMW's. Range Rovers, even spaking new ones need piggy back rides. My neighbor bought a 2022 Range Rover and he had catastrophic trans failure. 😆 When he told about it, I was like "yeah, thats what Range Rovers do!".
BMWs are frequent riders 'cause they get impounded for excessive speeding!
I was considering the 2022 GV80. Now I'm not so sure. How about the 2022 Genesis G80. Are those reliable!?
Take this video with a grain of salt. Video creator has an obvious bias against Hyundai motor group.
No Hyundai/Kia product is "reliable" in the sense it will run without problem for 10 years or more. If you are leasing then its no problem.
love our xc90..that being said I would never own one without being covered by a warranty.
I wish I knew that about the XC90 before buying one with an aftermarket warranty, they won’t even honor the service I had paid for. Worn piston rings and no compression in cylinder one. I’m stuck paying for a truck I can’t drive cos it requires a new engine after owning it for a month used. I will never own another one without a real Volvo factory warranty
@@NaStalgia so Volvo isn't accepting your aftermarket warranty you purchased? If so why doesn't the warranty company send you to someone that does? Just curious I own a 2019 XC90 with a warranty from CoastGuard.
@@cast9609 Volvo dealership that sold me the warranty wanted me to pay outta pocket for a new engine. The warranty company didn’t wanna cover the cost because they called it a pre-existing condition lol. To my knowledge the 2019 have the updated piston rings so oil consumption issue may not arise with yours but that transmission is a ticking time bomb because Volvo never fixed those. Sell your Volvo at the first sign of oil issue or transmission issue or else you will be on the hook for the repairs
@@NaStalgia thanks for your response. It's been a year and over 25k miles. Lol I drive a lot. But I will keep and eye for those signs. I do my own regular maintenance.
@@cast9609 I was unlucky, I only drove mine less than 10k miles. You’re welcome
I own Lincoln Aviator Reserve 2022 and only what I can say is it’s worth every penny!
All give less car and features than Genesis for nearly the same money.
Really disappointed to hear about the Tahoe! I have had three and my present 2008 Tahoe has 180k miles and has been reliable. I was planning on a new one in the near future but this makes me want to hold on to this one.
don’t let this video discourage you, most of these cars are very reliable. However, this VIDEO is VERY unreliable… if you take good care of your car it will last.
Don't buy a new one. I bought one for my wife and had engine issues 2 months later.
My 2022 Tahoe with 7000 miles has a jacked up transmission! Sitting at the dealer service department for over two weeks and they are still waiting on parts!
2022 Acura MDX.....drops mic. Second MDX for us (put 95K miles on first one before wife wanted newer) cuz they are bulletproof and top SUV at a good price, no Covid gouge (Genesis wanted 4K over sticker for a GV80....its just a slightly fancier Hyundai, guys!!). Great motor on the MDX now even bigger and more high tech vehicle. Do yourself a favor and go drive one.
Yes my next suv will be an mdx
💯💯💯 agree! Purchased a CPO ‘18 a year ago & this is the best vehicle I’ve ever owned!! When I get ready to upgrade I’ll absolutely get another one! I travel a good bit & getting right at 30/mpg! I couldn’t be happier especially with gas prices that are so ridiculous!
Just confirms y I bought a Mazda CX-9.. Built in Japan & has the tried and true 2.5L engine with a 6 spd auto.. Cars with more than 6 gears have nothing but problems.
I've never had any issues with my ZF 8HP on my Jaguar XF.
I had to a Toyota always had a recall and issues. I now have a 22 Kia Sorento 6 cylinder X-Line. Not one issues. You can't believe everything from a test drive.
You have a 2022. Let us know in 2030 how its holding up, thank you.
