Yup, am on 4k with 4090 so marginal difference if even that. Sure there might couples of games that runs better and some of them lows might be better but not going do change whole platform for that.😅
It will be 11800x3D most likely. If you have noticed ryzen 4000, 6000 and 8000 were either laptop cpus or apus. Desktop cpus are usually 5000, 7000 and 9000
I love my 5800x3d but I'm upgrading to the 9800x3d in anticipation of the 5090 releasing in January. Luckily my wife is getting my old rig which has the 5800x3d and a 4090.
At 1440p, a 4070 to 4080 level card + the 9800X3D...the new peak of gaming. Imagine does we can push the GPU limited games like Control Raytraced, CB2077 Pathtraced, etc. with 50 series cards at 1440p and 4K. Seriously impressive chip from AMD. My 12700KF is a solid chip (Intel last decent chips), but damn the futureproofing power and simply insane ability to push past CPU heavy scenes...has me kind of wanting to rebuild (would cost prob around 800~). Mainly because I'm really a gamer that loves smooth framerates and the 1% lows I've been seeing just blow the Intel side out of the water...it's stupidly stable and even those rare scenes in games that just destroy CPUs which a few channels have tested for so far and it just crushes right through
I don't know if I'm wrong but 5700x3d or 5800x3d seems quite sufficient for 1440p 120hz ultra gaming. 5800x3d gives over 400 fps in Cs2 and around 300 fps in pubg. Valorant doesn't need much processing power anyway. 9800x3d is a very good processor for those who will buy a new system, especially with the new cache positioning it runs 7-8 degrees cooler but it doesn't seem necessary for people who already have a 7800x3d or 5800x3d. Amd didn't come with such a huge performance increase in this generation. There is a 10-15% increase but going from 120 to 135 doesn't provide any additional advantage or going from 170 to 190 is the same. It would be much better if AMD upgraded its non-3d processors to a performance close to 7800x3d. As competition weakens, signs of monopolization begin to emerge. Also, for those wondering, the performance difference between 5800x3d and 7800x3d is almost 30% . There is no increase in price/performance, that is a completely different issue, the 7800x3d that can be found for 350 dollars was much better than the 9800x3d

Need 4K tests, for the full image. Because some people think that they will have the same performance difference in their games, where their gpu is bottleneck😅
Idk who thinks that way, By definition if gpu is bottleneck for both cpus it will be no difference. But there are some games where even at 4k cpu is a bottleneck
Another rookie 😂 you want the 1% lows as close as possible to the average fps for a smoother gameplay. The gap between 1% lows and average on the 9800x3d is larger.
@fffhunter7765 well even my i7 14700kf beats the 5800x3d easily. The 9800x3d is crazy good but I doubt its going to improve my 4k gaming for a couple of years because of gpu limitations.
@@prussell890 the 1% lows are relatively closer to average on 9800x3d? Just run the numbers. Let's take CS as example as it's the most CPU limited game. On the 5800x3d the difference between 349 1% and 517 average is 48.14%. On the 9800x3d this is 502 1% and 634 average and a difference of 26.29%. Anyway not that I really needed to prove this because higher 1% low is always better since you can always run an fps limit if you want the smoothness. So, who is the rookie now, huh?
@EJM07 you literally made no sense whatsoever! 😂 you do realise that your monitor determines the fps you can physically see right? For example 120hz means you can only physically see 120fps. Playing games like CS or tarkov you can literally hit too many fps regardless of cpu for your monitor to actually cope with so its irrelavent. I played league of legends once with my i7 14700k and 4080 super on my 32 inch 4k oled 240hz monitor, i was hitting 1000fps and my monitor went completely crazy! I had to set a max fps to be playable. Regardless, 1% lows are just as important as average fps as you want both to be as close as possible. Thats the reason why both are recorded for a smoother overall gameplay and thats a fact. If you want the best of the best gaming pc, then of course get the best gaming cpu, but a high end gpu is still far more important for any game. Faster cpus come out every 12 months, and a 5 year old cpu will age better than a 5 year old gpu.
As a 5800x3d owner I am happy to not be tempted for a system re-build until the 10800x3d is released!
just admit u don't have enough money to upgrade peasant

you can even skip AM5 and wait for the next gen. The next 3d chip will probably the last for AM5 so you wont have an upgrade path from there

I play 4K 60hz
The CPU does not care about resolution or graphics settings, besides crowd density and Ray Tracing.
Using high res will obv not show cpu perf as much...
Well, I believe he's showing both 1080p and 1440p for a CPU limited situation and a closer mix situation since 1440p is a fairly common gameplay res.
on CPU heavy games for sure!

no im comp player dont care about 1440p
Its a CPU test you genius...
The CPU does not care if its 144p, 1440p or 4320p. For the CPU its all the same.
9800x3d has larger 1% drop... Example is COD 3:
9800: 219fps - 153fps = 63fps swing
5800: 170fps -127fps = 43fps swing
98X3D -> 63/219=Drop 28%
58X3D -> 43/170=Drop 25%
It's true as you said. But they're stil relatively close to each other.
@beautyless100 yeah - just something I noticed with each of the games tested.
You need to do this test at 1440p AT LEAST
