I’m looking forward to rebuilding my machine from a 5800X3D to a 9800X3D even more now. I’ll have to wait until next week. Thanks for making this video!
Nice comparison. Exactly what i was looking for. Have you checked if you weren't GPU bound in your 9800X3D test? Cause G (GPU) Value is higher than R (CPU) Value. So it seems 9800X3D could handle even more FPS with a little lowered Settings or an faster GPU. So the 9800X3D is maybe even faster compared to the 7700X when not limited by the GPU. I think the 9800X3D is able to push 10% more FPS atleast. In your 7700X Test the R (CPU) Value was higher than the G (GPU) Value, so surely full CPU bound. I only ask, cause it's easier to lower GPU settings to achive higher framerates than optimize when in a CPU limit. Thank you, for your comparision.
Absolutely agreed. This test was just an extreme one between both cpu. I know for sure that real races some of the settings will be lower. This also let me know that at all the high settings, I’m still good with 90 fps. Also this is good for folks looking to upgrade to the am5 chipsets.
@ if you’re on a 2/3000 series, I would wait for the 5000 (if budget permits). I always skip a generation before upgrading unless you get a wicked good deal on the top model and is fine with it. Also with a 4080s, you probably will get 120-140 but may need to lower some settings. It also depends if you’re on triple or single. Single, current gpu will do just fine
It's funny how different these benchmarks in iracing vs all the mainstream benchmarks that have to state 100x they're running 1080p to keep it CPU limited and 1440p doesn't really let the CPU show what it can do. Here we are 1440p x 3 and it's still CPU limited and the differences are immense.
Do you use VR? I'd love to see the same approach using VR. I've got PSVR2 and 4090 on 7800X3D. I'm just holding 90 fps with dips in traffic and near pits. No headroom for rain. Maybe 9800X3D will improve this.
@@AlexeiWatson unfortunately I do not use VR but do have the HP Reverb G2 in the closet since switching to Triples. May try to take it out and test for you.
something poorly this gpu gives, I have a 4090 and vr HP 3100x3100 by eye, I know that it generates more load for the GPU, previously I had 3x1440 and I still have anti-aliasing enabled in the NIVIDIA panel, x2 transparency, which puts an extra load on me, but gives a good effect, I always have a constant fps of 90 with a reserve, only in the rain I have to go down a bit from the settings because even the 9800x3d has a problem not gpu. The CPU frame time is also high for 9800x3D
@ yeah sounds about right. That’s exactly why I haven’t made the switch to 1440p. The rain with SSR on high is so GPU intensive. My 4070SUPER gets the same performance except I’m in 1080p haha. The 5090Ti is our only hope mate!
@@jeremymarsh569 I agree. I was wanting to buy a 4090 for 1080p rain races but I think I’ll be lucky to get 60fps with a full grid in the rain on rolling start with triple 1080p 4090. It’s crazy that we need high end hardware for these graphics 😔
My 3080 + 5900X runs it pretty decent. But haven't tried any of these newer tracks, nor as high settings as you use. Already got the 9800x3d, but now I'm waiting for the 5000 series from Nvidia. Cant use the 3080 because current system is fully watercooled. Plus I will build a complete new pc btw. Decided to just buy the chip now and be ahead of any new scalping trends.
I am doing the same, but I will say my 5900x / 4090 running 15360x2160 on mostly max settings gets between 70-115 gps depending on track. I am surprised your fps was so low at 1440p.
@@justinmuntean7689its mostly the new spa track and 20 cars driving close together. Other tracks, its about 140-160 on maxed. Also I do not use any fxaa/smaa.
My PC has 5800x + 3080. I was on VR exclusively but recently switched to triple 32” 1440p. I haven’t seen fps dip below 95 yet. I used Dan Suzuki’s guide for IRacing and reshade settings, and irSidekick to be able to quickly switch to lighter settings for demanding tracks(I have yet to require it). IMO it looks and performs excellent. HWinfo64 tells me I am completely GPU bound.
