Lmao! He clearly doesn't. My original Xbox was killed by a power surge when a lighting bolt struck next to our house.
Funny thing is my friend was in a similar situation where a lightning storm fried all of his consoles but his PC survived. With DSP's logic PCs cannot be fried by lightning.

Power surges are why external PSUs were god's gift to consoles. I had a surge blow one of my 360's PSUs, which I was able to easily replace with a new one off ebay

Well, as an indie games developer who loves the industry, I think it's fucking fantastic that he hasn't migrated to PC gaming - I would hate for a project I'd invested time and effort in to be mauled by this distended testicle.
No Phil. Developers don’t need to make *every* game work on *every* pc. They make it, figure out how little power it needs to run well & *we* have to buy a new part or 2 if our specs don’t meet the requirements. Just like *you* had to buy a PS5 to play games Sony wasn’t publishing for the PS4.
DSP, not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, doesn't realise that games on PC make use of APIs like DirectX and Vulcan which means that you don't need to code for specific hardware like they used to back in the 80s.

Building games for PC or any of the three OS'es is much more easier and cheaper than a console.
Ever since he got his lemon PC, he has been a console peasant. Since he is bitching and moaning about taxes, he can get at least $800 to $1000 PC that can handle modern day games. An i5 13600K, DDR4 b760 Motherboard With 32GB DDR4 ram, 850w gold rated power supply, 2TB PCIE Gen 4 and 2TB SATA SSDs and a 3070ti would be an ideal gaming PC for streamers.

What he said uses maybe 350 watts when everything is pegged at max. But even during gaming, it wouldn't hit that power draw. The rating of a PSU is the maximum the PSU can safely provide, not what it delivers to the PC. Computer parts will draw as much power as it is designed to. You spec your PSU to be 2x what you suspect the max power draw of your entire PC is to account for the fact PSUs are most efficient at conversion AC power from the wall to DC power your PC needs at 50% load.
The same guy that purchased an overpriced PC with outdated parts and then damaged the case in his unboxing....... That is DSP.

I'll happily optimize a games settings and/or even deal an occasional crash over having my games locked 30 fps, being forced to use a controller on the majority of games, having to pay an extra fee just to play the games I already own online, and still having to deal with an occasional crash.

Bro, as a Sony fan since the PS2 days, everyone knows that PC's really are the BEST avenue for gaming. I still prefer my PS5 because of exclusives and indifference to building a PC, but come on now, PC's are ridiculous in what they can do.
Majority of exclusives are meh to will come to PC they should period as locking games to a locked platform is bad & gross. Having a preference is ok and like gaming is gaming to i get it console are marketed as a multi media machine but they'll never out do a PC shame some can't cope with this.

I had to fix my xbox one's power brick because the caps vented... everything that plugs into the wall is susceptible to being fried from it if you don't have adequate protection.

dsp isn't entertaining, he relies on day 1/week 1 views (hence why he won't wait a day or two before playing the game), this is the same guy who will complain about things that could be fixed by going into the settings, but he also plays games with the default settings because he believes It's how the devs intended the game to be.
He lives and dies by the views and only streams when muh bills need to be paid, guilt trips fans to donate exactly like LTG it's sad.
And not shocked he's that way, i'll mod Tekken 8 day 1 we all know mods sell games like hot cakes (cue skyrim here) given JP devs loop mods with aim bots and such but want can you do.

I always unplug my PC and monitors when thunderstorms are in my area. I have a surge protector but still am weary as I don't want to lose $4k worth of equipment. My next purchase is an UPS so that way I will feel a little safer about thunderstorms.
A quick Google search will prove that consoles are perfectly susceptible to some pretty bad power surges. To the point where you can visibly see the damage where the power cord plugs in.

I had a power outage when the Wii was still a current generation console and my Wii console bricked...
Here is the stupid thing that DSP fans never realize cause they only follow DSP, ALL of the content creators that are better than DSP, like Markiplier and Maximillian, they played games on PC.
Even more stupid is that DSP used an example that when he is playing console, he can just play on that scheduled time, and yet he has been late on schedule most of the time, and worst yet, in his stream, he spent most of his time talking about shit than playing the game.

I used to think like this, so many inconveniences, but it’s simple to just either ignore it or fix it in like a minute. It’s not that hard
I just like to point out that DoubleStandardsPhil has been begging for his fans to buy him a new PC and a year before this rant he received two offers for a PC, but managed to torpedo both within the same week.
Offer one was made by a fan who wanted to buy DSP a PC, but didn't want to spend over $1500 and DSP kept on trying to squeeze an extra $1000.
Offer two was made by another TH-camr called ReviewTech USA, long story short DSP got pissed about the fact RTU made his offer public knowledge and the fan would back out shortly after RTU retracted his offer.
The amount of clips of DSP going through crashes, glitches and game breaking bugs on console is insane. But yeah, consoles are more consistent lol

we must never forget *sniff* the horror.. of dsp's probably non existent pc's in the 90's or 2000's ( that you know he totally played quake and unreal tournament with his FRIENDS that he totally had when he was a true "enthusiast") that were so heartbreakingly destroyed by that dastardly evil..it wasnt that wondrous, mythical, pc from the 90's or 2000's lack of surge protectors, or even the spiteful hand of an uncaring god thru his weather... it was the sheer duplicitous evil of said pc itself.. and like dsp... we must NEVER forget
If he has a computer that can stream and edit videos, it's probably powerful enough to play some modern games, so he doesn't even need to have another pc. Plus he should have the money for it anyways.
It's not actually all that hard to to record and stream from an external source. Depending on your software choice, all you need is a 2nd gen i5, Ryzen 3 1300X, or the AMD FX 8 core CPUs and any GTX 900, RX 400, or Intel HD 500 GPU. In case you missed it, we're talking Intel's iGPU from 2015.
Granted, most software suites are going to recommend something between 4th gen to 8th gen i7s, and Intel Xe or better graphics.
Editing is a little different, as better hardware means being able to do more faster, but even the last Intel generation of Mac Minis are decent options for the level of editing a channel like DSP needs.

Related to the streamers issue, from what I know on a console you don't have issues while streaming because you use a PC to stream. while PC streamers usually use the same PC to stream and it uses more resources. I may be wrong, but this is what I've heard
Then some use duel PC setup's which are a pain to deal with a Apex streamer i watch had to fix a few things but they got it. Then, a rhythm gaming streamer i follow uses a 3090 and wild beefy PC he bought locally in one hell of a clutch deal to grace humanity.
The game is osu! (PC version of the Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan game) and the streamer is BTMC.
the thing is, games on pc is... pretty much cover every corner of imagination game developer have.
from the shittiest to the absolute gold games, from mediocre to masterpiece, pretty much exist on pc.
that's what makes it interesting, once you found your gold, it will last you for a very, very long time.

If pc didn't require digital games i might give a shit. After building a 6 grand rig out of boredom i don't use it except maybe once a month. My only internet option is 170 a month and I get 111kbps down so im out. 4 days downloading spiderman with the down speed and nonstop drops was enough for me. And every game you mentioned i would never touch so im not missing out
i have the same problem some years ago, i change the power supply and all good there are safty chip prevent destroy all over component
Consoles share a spec sheet, PC's don't holy crap for the most laughed at joke among the creators phil is doing well what we'd expect. I left console gaming as i wanted more, be free from paying for online (ew) and to make games as i have since the 5th grade (i still do watch a GDC, and Devs watching speedruns of there games please!)
PC's is where games are made, and requires more tending to as again no PC shares the same specs to simply poor optimization. Wild some resident console preferring gamers spread many lies and misconception glad joefromseattle is debunking them! :) love that guy.

The "not being able to stream reliably" argument is dumb. I'm tiny and I've streamed entirely on PC. There have been no serious issues with the games I've played. And yeah, part of the reason is that I do checks for things like a half hour before I start streaming. Most of my streaming problems have had nothing to do with the PC games, but more with like "oh OBS isn't capturing this game the way I want" or "ugh my internet is being stupid". The software problems are like a 5-10 minute fix max! It's very easy.
Oh, and I've also streamed with emulation on my PC and even that went perfectly fine. If my newbie streamer self can do it, what does it say for this "bigshot" who has been a content creator for so long that these things are just "too hard" and beyond him?
