For some people Xbox is just a forever disappointment. Even when they're actually delivering great games and having better showcases than the competition.
They've had better showcases for literally like 3 years straight at this point. Lol
Now you starting to understand Phil quote it won’t matter if we have 11 out of ten game we lost the worst gen to loose cause majority of people games are digital now. people still won’t buy an xbox the guy on this TH-cam channel will probably buy it on pc or wait a year or more for it to come to his platform of choice I see on social media all the time when people see good Xbox game they can like 3 or 4 games they them self say I wish it was on my platform I buy it day one I guess Microsoft see data they are data company after all probably see that probably one of the reasons Phil says we wanna bring games to where ever screen you play on so in other words instead of having the customer come to you Xbox is coming to where ever the customer at

You might be the first person that I’ve ever heard that’s worried about Indiana Jones because of the developer. This is Machine Games. They have an incredible track record with the Wolfenstein games and going all the way back to the Chronicles of Riddick on the original Xbox. If anyone can do a first person game, with an incredible story and tight gameplay, it’s Machine Games.
The only bad game was Young Blood from them

Look at Aspyr. People had hopes they'd do well with the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection.... I have no hopes for any company that had no involvement with a franchise to make a good game for said franchise. Either a studio that was involved with it, or don't fucking do it.

My only criticisme is the lack of release date for Indiana Jones and Avowed. Other than that, I was looking forward to hear something about the activision catalogue comming to Gamepass, it has been long overdue. Putting old CoD games on Gamepass can only lead to more subscribers. I give it a 9/10, just for Doom.
I'd rather it be like that then announce a release date and then be disappointed when they have to delay said release date
Pretty sure I heard they accidentally put out the release date of Nov/12 on Obsidians website before they deleted it, now that’s just something I heard so take that info with a grain of salt

To be fair to your comments on Rare... they have a loooot of IPs. They can't revive all of them on their own. They did Sea of Thieves, maybe right now they're working on one of their classic IPs, maybe they're choosing to make something new instead. In any case, though, the team working on Spyro and Crash is the right choice for Banjo.

I think MS figured out shock drops are better than committing to a static release date when it comes to publicity and engagement. The expectation is lower but still expected.

Compared to recent game showings the Xbox showcase was actually pretty good. Hopefully the games we saw end up being good. Personally I'm hyped for Doom Dark Ages and Expedition 33 look really good.

Rare themselves has said they dont want to do remakes of all of their stuff. Thats why they give their licences out to other developers. I'm sure this guy must have known this?
South of Midnight has me intrigued more than any other game Microsoft showed. I'm glad they're doing prequels of Doom and Gears. Playground has my trust as a racing developer, but yeah, they still need to prove themselves as an RPG developer. What concerns me is not seeing release dates for Avowed and Indiana Jones when they are supposedly releasing this year. FYI, it's not Microsoft that doesn't want anyone to touch Rare's IP. Apparently nobody else is interested in making new games or remaking their IP, including Rare themselves.

I don't do many social nets so I didn't even know gears was being announced, so to me the entire showcase was rather cool. However, I'm old enough to know that all companies tend to overhype stuff with short teasers or long "in-game" cinematics that rarely would you see in your playthrough 🤷🏻♂️ so yea, I'll have to wait, play and see it for myself! Other than that, cool showcase overall
out of all the games, i only liked 2, and interested in 1. that mouse adventure indie game looks good, but my favorite by far is Mixtape. it reminds me of Claymation... the style is weird and interesting...

I have been having a similar feeling as well. Why is it so hard for western AAA developers to show any bit of gameplay. Why is it always these cinematic trailers that don't represent how the game plays att all. It is so annoying because like you said the games sound cool on paper but I can't get really excited at all when they show nothing at all. Then add in their track record of releasing shitty games despite the cinematics, it makes me not have a lot of trust in these devs. It doesn't matter how good a cinematic is if your game is going to be shit. No good amount of cinematics will convince me to believe a shit game is a good game. All I care about is great gameplay and a great story. I don't care about graphics or how movie like a game looks like. At least Japanese developers show gameplay. Just look at Metaphor ReFantazio. I am more excited about that game than Fable. And I loved the first Fable. But the reason is that they showed gameplay of Metaphor compared to Fable just showing a movie trailer. And whats worst is that people still pre order these games despite never seeing any lick of gameplay.
I think you have a take that is acceptable: you need more trust in the studios xbox has as a publisher.
Me personally i loved the event and even BO6 looks fantastic, regardless if it will have SBMM. However i will not forgive Xbox for shutting down some of their studios

Having trailers for games coming out at unspecified times has been a thing since E3 started in the 90s. I'm hopeful as unlike the past couple (read: 8+) years it seems like XBox is finally headed in the right direction. It just has to keep going that way. Who would have guessed Perfect Dark would be the mirror's edge game we never got and we'd get a spiritual high-graphic successor to Legend of Dragoon from a french developer?
That said the lead of perfect dark has been through the DEI ringer a bit too many times. Thankfully it'll be on PC and I can mod it!

I’m excited for the new Perfect Dark and Doom, everything else was nothing I was interested in but it was still great, definitely mops the floor with SOP and SGF, now I’m just waiting for the Nintendo Direct, hopefully they show something good

That gears of war trailer was great. They really hit me with that nostalgic feel, and i agree that the new gears of war just ain't cutting it, i stopped after playing 4.
Finally someone that share my opinion. If you go by the IPs the showcase was fire...but half of the games were already shown years ago (stalker, fable, indiana jones, avowed, MGS, etc) and theres almost no new information, release date or gameplay. Gears? Just a teaser for hype. Nintendo did this with metroid prime 4. FFS, xbox did this with hellblade 2 (a game that was announced and didnt have development at the time).
I dont trust this industry and xbox is the publisher that i trust the least. Does anybody remember the first xbox showcase? All those cool games and IPs...and where are those? Being announced again with no release date.

I trust Gears E-Day but then again I like every Gears games so far. Doom Dark Age has ALL must trust in the world it'll be great. 2016 was solid & Eternal is one of my favorite games.

I will be honest I am very positive about most of the xbox showcase, and I like what i have seen from most of it. I will ofc no pre-order, but there are several projects i am very much looking forward to the release of, and have high hopes for good reviews/looking at gameplay that is good before i buy.
Some of these games look amazing, I'm cautiously excited and I think they put on a great showcase....it was 🔥
It’s almost like Activision playing up studios left and right plus acquiring their IP’s had a short term gain with folks willing to defend the buyouts because “We get it on Gamepass now” or whatever before reality kicks in and you have another Disney Fox acquisition situation but for gaming. A want of a Fantastic Four and X-Men in MCU type of deal.
Don’t be shocked if Microsoft does Sony is doing now somewhere down the road. When you own a corner of the market, complacency and arrogance sets in. That’s what got Sony in trouble twice in our lifetime.
I dunno, most of these trailers remind me of some of the original Watch Dogs trailers. It feels like they aren't going to represent what the game will actually look or play like. I've just come to stop trusting trailers for anything. I thought I might be excited for Avowed, then I went and looked at Obsidian's catalog of games and realized how few of their games I've actually like, and they're old games. Their new ones have just been... uninteresting and predictable. I also miss when characters weren't intentionally designed to be ugly...
343 needs to be shut down
The game I'm looking forward from the Sony side is "phantom blade zero". That game looks awesome and it's from a smaller dev studio that seems to be untouched by politics which is great. And the footage of combat that looks scripted according to pay testers are actual gameplay moves you can key in. Some are circumstantial like if 2 guys surround you and you hit the correct buttons/combo for example. But that sounds like really engaging gameplay! I know i sound like I'm shilling for the game but that's just my excitement i let get away from me before the pessimist side of me had a chance to anchor expectations lol.
For the record i didn't even bother watching Sony's snooze fest and i guess phantom blade had a spot during that show. Doesn't matter to me tho. Also I'm hearing mixed things that the game will or won't be multiplat. Hope it is day and date, but even if it isn't i know it will eventually come to pc. Hope these console companies find themselves in a place where they have to drop the exclusivity business model

The xbox showcase was good, but considering all of those games are coming to PC it should have just been called the microsoft showcase.
With that being said though, it still destroyed playstation's showcase and if I was going to own any console it definitely wouldn't be the PS5 right now. Especially considering the ps5 games also coming to PC...Right now the only truly exclusive console is nintendo switch, but you can emulate that on a PC anyway XD
at this point i'll be surprised if the next showcase they'll miss

i can only assume i'm in the minority on Gears, because i never played the originals, and only first played some of Gears 4, and then all of Gears 5 when it came out. i absolutely love Gears 5, minus a small handful of gripes. i know i'll get flak for not playing the originals, but i honestly don't really care to at this point. i'll certainly check out E-Day when it comes, but i was just starting to feel like i never see anyone else talk about actually liking the newer games, and i guess i'm just putting this out there to find out if i really am the only one lol
Nawh I really enjoyed gears 5. I also like lots of new games. It's a lot easier to find people who seem to hate everything than people that like everything though. This is the internet. In spite of liking gears 5, I'm still excited for e day because the original trilogy references the day but you've never gotten to live it. Also old fans are very attached to Marcus and Dom so I'm happy they get what they want.

Infinite made a slight comeback. People wanted it to be nominated for best community support last year.
Kind of sucks that only like 3 showcases show multiple games now. Xbox,summer game fest,pc gaming show.
Doom The Dark Ages got me wet. Here is hoping it is more like 2016 and less like Eternal. Eternal is a great game for sure, but my reflexes are shit as I approach half a century old, I would rather just stick with 2 or 3 great weapons instead of having to cycle through 6 of them to juggle an enemy to the point of getting their critical spot open for attack.

How are you not ecstatic over gears, I went back and watched your old video because I remembered your take and it was exactly what you wanted 😂, including the fear of the enemy and it being scary. Xbox is killing it, but I want them to show and prove, but I do think you need to start giving them some of the benefit of the doubt, they have given the devs room to do their stuff, you can give yourself room to feel good. Currently playing the starfield update and really enjoying it. Feels like 360 era but with more studios and xbox having a proper long term view. Also the whole show was just great games, as someone who likes games I'm happy.

@@overdrivedrinker8284 I think a lot of that is media and cultural bias, it's been cool to hate on xbox for a while, but I'm old enough to remember pre Sony and xbox so I've seen enough to know when people are unfairly critiquing. Always be sceptical, but don't let pessimism stop you from having a good time, life's too short.

I grew up playing the shit out of my xbox 360 and had an xbox one throughout the previous gen, so I'm pretty confident in saying I'm not super biased against Xbox (if anything I have a bias against Sony, given all the dumb shit they've pulled.)
Given the launch state of Starfield and how Redfall ended up, I think people are pretty justified in being skeptical about Xbox right now, and especially some of the studios in the showcase (The Coalition and Machine Games being good examples, as Joe said in the video). Id Software has yet to let us down though, so DOOM: The Dark Ages is one I'm personally pretty confident in.
Do I think the games they showed are 100% going to fail and be garbage? Hell no. I'm pretty cautiously optimistic about these games. But I also remember that some of these studios have been pretty dumb in recent years. Like another commenter said, better to be cautiously optimistic than blindly hyped

Christ, I'm actually going to agree with Jaytech that it was an 8.5/10. I'm not sold, either. Joanna has Nick Nolte's jaw, Fable's character was beaten from head to toe with the andro stick and there were only a couple of firm release dates. There's so much room for skullduggery. Gamers in general are so thirsty, on the Xbox fanboy side they're universally ripping their panties off and throwing them at the stage.

Xbox fans excited about "unexpected" games Microsoft announced every single year. Only new games was Doom and Call of Duty, other ones was delayed years ago and still possibly can be delayed. Do not trust Microsoft until game released for real.

Xbox has a terrible track record this gen of graphical downgrades and broken gameplay promises. If we get what they're advertising, this could be incredible. If we get more Halo Infinite or Motorsport scenarios...

Be is playstation or xbox, none of their offerings are good. they had projects that could have been a huge success but no all they do is first person shooters by xbox and third person stealth by playstation. returnal, may not see another sequel or similar style game on that platform, same goes for hifi rush, and many more they drive good fun games to obscurity.
And 343 hasn't yet made a great Halo. Halo 4 was okay, Halo 5 was insultingly bad, Halo Infinite launched half baked and took them a year and some change to make an okay Halo game.

There was more Indiana Jones DNA in that little trailer we got that in either of the last two movies. They absolutely nailed the tone and setting. The bad guys were slimes, Indy was overly cocky and instantly humbled at points…what’s not to like?

Starfield was just regular Bethesda slop like skyrim. The difference is that starfield counldt give behind the sandbox like skyrim. Skyrim sandbox is so amazing that you ignore everything else being meh. In Starfield the issues with Bethesda are clear and cannot be ignored

It's hard to not be pessimistic when these big studios keep showing nothing but CGI trailers with little to no gameplay as well as no release dates. But you do you, continue to clap like a trained seal. Microsoft desperately needs more of that.
