Where you might see braindead true combos, I see dual wield setup creativity. Where you see overbearing hitstun, I see frame advantage and interesting followups. Where you see backstabs, I see... well, backstabs. We all miss backstabs. I was looking through old clips, and found this to be a really fitting last DS3 invasion before Elden Ring released. It has all the things people hated about DS3 invasions - gank advantage, hitstun, true combos, bonfire camping, even stuff like cancels (I infamously never used them, but I did try to learn them before DS3 "died", just to see if I could). And yet I found it really fun and heartwarming to look back on. I don't think it looks dated, honestly. It's very familiar, some might say rote, and yet all I see is 6-man fray of folks, just having fun. That alone feels particularly fresh to me now. I'm not done with DS3. It will always be very near and dear to me. I will come back here and there to remember the good times, and sometimes the bad ones too - but it will always have my love. So many content creators started off this game, and it felt so alive in invasions with even a 1v1 turning to a 3v1 into a 4v2 in some invasions. I'll definitely be visiting Lothric from time to time. I miss it often.
This feels so familiar. Like going back to a childhood home or just that feeling of remembering a good time. It’s not nostalgic or blurry yet, but it’s still new enough for the memories to linger clearly. Feels like it was just yesterday. I love all the interesting weapons too. Just a great time tbh. So much fun to be had.
Quite wonderful to see. That low latency, those smooth backstabs, and the joy of slapping two different weapons together and getting something greater than the sum of their parts.
I'll be honest, I was so burned out with DS3 during its last cycle that I was sure I would never go back to its pvp and that I'd always remember it with a bad taste but looking back, I was able to play it since release whereas I've already given up on ER until dlc comes out. When you put so much time into one game, only sour memories clog your memory but this video made me feel somehow nostalgic. Maybe I'll actually return to it someday if FROM ever fixes PC servers. Btw as someone who was only able to have fun in DS3 by using Crucifix of the Mad King, I'd like to let everyone know that the host does not represent our community.
L2 L2 L2 L2 L2 L2. Well THIS guy’s gonna LOVE Elden Ring! And yeah I know what you mean Luna. I felt very burnt out at the end of DS3’s life cycle but it’s a credit to the game I could even play it that long. It’ll be fun to come back to now and then
LKLS, what a downright wonderful weapon. i appreciated the BKGA rolling attack in the beginning, it didn't land but it was big-brained. wonderful clip 💕
@@rahtsnake144 it’s secretly terrible but there is a little perk where BKGA will lead into a fully charged LKLS R2 rollcatch. One of very few weapons that set up that pseudo effectively. The better choice is actually Pickaxe - easier stats, thrust dmg, similar hitstun, better hyperarmor. Highly recommend that setup actually, it’s v fun
Cancels are a bit of a dishonest glitch, some call it tech, but generally I avoid using it. It’s not necessary for PvP, so I wouldn’t worry about learning it. Especially not in 2022 :P
Even if it did, idk if it will ever match the chaos of a good organic coinvasion, 2 reds against the world. My favorite kind of PvP experience in the entire series ❤️ An arena would be a big improvement though.
@@grakata5620 I'm a trash mob that's played through a couple of the games with clubs naked at this point. I started ER on launch and intuited a bloodflame build within 48 hours. Obviously this means I feel the game is "perfectly balanced" as the spiffing brit might put it. I hound dash around with bleed aoe, super broken lol.
Tbh ds3 pvp is my least favorite and I'm loving er invasions rn but this gameplay makes want to play it again, even if it always just made me mald. I don't think ds3 pvp is bad or anything, just not my preferred game
I’ve always said that you can tell if someone’s having fun, based on how they’re playing. To think that might be true of me when I’m playing DS3 is a great compliment. I understand the feeling of wanting to play it after seeing someone have fun, even if it’s not your preferred game - that’s how I feel watching some Elden Ring invaders. I really want to enjoy ER and sometimes I do, but between the lack of balance and the lack of activity, it really does feel like it’s fighting my attempts to express my own sense of fun. I’m hopeful we’ll see changes in the future that will reduce that friction. It’s just a matter of time - hopefully not too much longer. Because I don’t want to have to go back to DS3. As much as I f*cking ADORE DS3, I’ve done basically all I’ve ever wanted to do in that game, and am eager to try new things.
This would’ve been a lot messier if my coinvader ewwkee didn’t take out the other phantom while handling the 3v1, tbh. A good teammate is a game changer, and it’s unfortunate they’re so uncommon outside of this specific entry in the series.

Ds2 pvp was still better imo. But Ds3 pvp is still better than ER pvp. Or Bloodborne pvp. Or ds1 pvp.
Really, really great gameplay. Playing against 4 players in that room is a nightmare.
And I thought there is no torture allowed on Sunday... so many great memories... to vivid ones...
The servers may return one day! DS3 may not ever truly die.
