Gate of Heaven Cemetery, approximately 25 miles (40 km) north of New York City, was established in 1917 at 10 West Stevens Ave. in Hawthorne, Westchester County, New York, as a Roman Catholic burial site. Among its famous residents is baseball player Babe Ruth, whose grave has an epitaph by Cardinal Francis Spellman and is almost always adorned by many baseballs, bats and caps. Adjacent to the Garden Mausoleum is a small train station of the Metro-North Railroad Harlem Division named Mount Pleasant, where four trains stop daily, two northbound and two southbound. Several baseball players are buried here.
A cemetery, burial ground, gravesite, graveyard, or a green space called a memorial park, is a place where the remains of dead people are buried or otherwise interred. The word cemetery (from Greek κοιμητήριον 'sleeping place') implies that the land is specifically designated as a burial ground and originally applied to the Roman catacombs.[3] The term graveyard is often used interchangeably with cemetery, but a graveyard primarily refers to a burial ground within a churchyard. - บันเทิง

My father in law and most of my husband's family are buried here. It's a beautiful cemetery. My father in law was a Captain with 6th armored and headed up the 3rd headquarters. He liberated Buchenwald was in Normandy on D Day. He was a great man. Dorothy Kilgallen is also buried there.

When I was a kid I would visit my uncle In Martha's vineyard and would see Mr Cagney every once in a while. Nice gentleman and no one would bother him around town.
Some of my family is there too. When you go back, be sure to find Yankee great Lou Gehrig there too..
my grandma and grandpa are berried at the very top of the hill at tomb inside (Vicenza and Rito Cioffi)
Thanks Scott, I needed this break desperately today! Wow, there are so many legends buried here in this beautiful and well-kept cemetery. Such gorgeous stones for Babe Ruth and Billy Martin. I love the epitaph on Billy's grave too. I sure wish he didn't die that way and I hope no one else was hurt. I LOVE James Cagney! My Grandparents are buried there .. 7 sections from their favorite Yankee the Bambino! My aunt has a beer coaster signed by Babe that he gave my grandfather in a bar he was at!

The Mary Higgins Clark plot is indeed confusing. She’s buried with her first husband Warren. Her last husband John is buried with Warren’s brother Allan. Allan’s wife June is buried with her last husband Robert. Mary’s daughter Patricia is buried with Warren’s father David 🤯
I loved watching Billy Martin arguing with the Umps! I went to Yankee Stadium with a friend that had access to the Pinstripe Club and when I walked out to the seats, I got goosebumps because Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig played there and Joe DiMaggio too. My nephew who is almost 17 or 18 (I lost count) has actually been playing baseball since he was a little kid and he’s VERY good at it, he wants to be part of the New York Yankees eventually haha it’s been his dream for years. His brother wanted to be a professional baseball player as well but he’s 18 so he may have grown out of that haha but the both of them been playing all the way through high school K-12. They both are VERY good at it!
