I am in Thomasville, North Carolina. It is about 45 mins from where you are now. My own Uncle lost his leg from a train here in Thomasville. Here the train tracks are in the center of the town. Back in the days my father and his brothers were young and dumb and jumped the trains, which is how my Uncle lost his leg. He had it buried also and as long as I could remember, he always felt it itching, like bugs crawling all over it. I assume he didn't dress it in pants and put in a wooden box.

A friends dad lost a leg in a combine accident. Now his body lies between his wife and his leg in the family plot in the church cemetery. People blamed him for the loss. Silly farmer working on Sunday instead of being at church. He had just bought it. It sat unused basically my whole life next to the field it happened in. He made every payment (penance?).
