After watching alot of these videos i did my own paint job last year, was very happy with the results. GUIDE coat helps 1000% its a MUST HAVE if u have scratches or dents in your car. Looks daunting at the start but you have ALOT to gain from learning how to paint your own car. You loose alot of fear of getting a scratch on your car because you then know how to easily fix it instead of paying someone
As a coatings specialists of over 25 years. I approve this video. I haven’t had a chance to work with primer putty yet. Still sticking to the knife grade putty for final, or small fills. It looks like your regulator and fan patterns are set perfectly. Which is a good thing because one second of loss of surgical precision could cause a run to occur. I was waiting to see the guide coat step being totally missed, as when I stumble across a video like this. That’s what is normally forgotten. Perfect score bro.
40 years ago I had sanded and sprayed my car and it was a beauty. Next day home from work, I found my 4 year old kid in the garage sanding the newly painted car. Looking at me saying "Hi dad, I am helping you". I am proud that I thought it was funny. Good kid, has worked with me in the garage a lot since then.

Nice work you did there! The dark green and the tan/gold is one of my favorite combos on a car. I love the way the green pops in the sun then at night it goes to black, it's sick as hell!! The fade you did on the gold stripe if you further reduce the base coat to almost a 2:1 it helps with the way it lays out. It's thinner so it does more of a fade and u can just go over it few times until u get the tone you want. Just a tip! Not trying to tell u how to do anything!
I'm a mechanic and to me people that do this kind of work (bodywork) are Gods in my opinion,there is nothing to shooting some paint on car,THE PREPWORK is where all the money and patience is at. great video man!!

There is avible to work the car when you paint it and coasts about 70k $ and you have to be friend with a car dealer and he can give you cars to paint them so all is about 250k $ to start this work

It is a smashing one of a kind product for discovering how to master car body work and spraying techniques minus the headache. Just finished up with my first paint job following several of your videos. Thanks for all the helpful information you've provided! I used a vinyl masking graphic, using the same method shown in this video. It came out well, but when I peeled it off, it left adhesive residue everywhere. I was able to get it all removed before clearing after putting in a days worth of work wiping it off, but thought I'd ask you if you used some specific type of vinyl graphic for your Miata? The graphic that I used was meant for permanent installation over clearcoat, therefore having very tacky adhesive. Did you have this custom made and request specific adhesive be used?

I am so in love with my car and wanting to paint "just" the trunklid. With all of the expenses over the last few years has prevented me from getting an entire paint job. I know that I can do this myself. What happened was someone had put something on my trunklid causing it to bubble up and those areas have since peeled. I want to prep it so that I can paint it and thus prevent it from rusting as well. As few steps as possible would be my objective because "still" the budget factor. And, the fewer products I would need could make it happen. This is the reason I am watching this video in hopes to find direction that would enable the process.

Looks brilliant...I wouldn't have put the mazdaspeed logo (The mazdaspeed version was the NB generation wasn't it?) on or left the mirrors gold though. To each his own though! It looks nice.
A paint job doesn't become cheaper because the car is cheaper. To shoot my car in HOK color/clear it was more than $1500 just for the paint materials ($250 for 1 gal PPG DP50 primer, $150 for Nason 2k high build, $1100 for 1.25 gal HOK Platinum pearl basecoat, $300 for 1 gal Kosmic Klear). Nobody is going to do a decent paintjob for $1500.
Hey there great video, I’ve got a question. My basecoat got orange peel, later i put the clear coat, and the clear coat also got orange peel. Can it be fixed by sanding and polishing?
Man that was a great job! I want to do this to my car but im mainly afraid of getting a good clear finish on the car. I know cutting and polishing can help but would like to get a good coat of it to have less work later.

Some comment on the editing, but I found the skipping of the bullshit quit refreshing. He cuts right to parts where he is physically doing the steps. Apply 3 coat of Primer every 10 minutes and let dry (What color of primer) 4. Then WET sand the powdery texture ans wash 5. Then apply paint 3 to 4 coat every 20 minutes 6. Then wet sand again and wash 7. Apply the clear coat.. let dry 8. Apply wax and polish Am I right?

Hey there great video, I’ve got a question. My basecoat got orange peel, later i put the clear coat, and the clear coat also got orange peel. Can it be fixed by sanding and polishing?
Man that was a great job! I want to do this to my car but im mainly afraid of getting a good clear finish on the car. I know cutting and polishing can help but would like to get a good coat of it to have less work later.

Some comment on the editing, but I found the skipping of the bullshit quit refreshing. He cuts right to parts where he is physically doing the steps. I think it's a great introduction for people who are considering trying this themselves, regardless of the car. Any longer and I would have stopped the video anyway lol.

How to paint a car step by step please
Tell me if I am wrong then correct me
1. I must wash the car
2. Wet Sand the car or dry sanding
3. Apply 3 coat of Primer every 10 minutes and let dry (What color of primer)
4. Then WET sand the powdery texture ans wash
5. Then apply paint 3 to 4 coat every 20 minutes
6. Then wet sand again and wash
7. Apply the clear coat.. let dry
8. Apply wax and polish
Am I right?

The car looks awesome! I'm usually not a fan of body kits but your looks great on the Miata. I would be very proid of the job you did. I'm going to be tackling the body work and paint on my 01 Ram. I hope mine comes out as well as yours did.
