1:48 - Becoming a dental assistant
In this Vlog,
I talk about my story of becoming a dental assistant WITHOUT going to dental assisting school! I will also cover other topics such as what DA’s do, the pay, my workplace (corporate vs. private office), work schedule and Ultimately if I think it’s worth it to become a dental assistant!
This video is good for anyone looking to go into the dental field whether you are a pre-dental student, dental hygiene students, pre-hygiene, and even those looking to go into the dental assisting directly.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave it in the comment section or message me on my insta ⬇️😊

I'm a dentil assistant as well and my dentist and senior nurse trained me, I didn't have any experience and I'm sooo thankful they did because I love it and the dentist prefers teaching their ways!
Wow amazing! I’m actually a Dental Hygiene Assistant for Great Expressions too. I had medical experience prior too which is how I got in! Since working at as a Hygienist Assistant I’ve been interested in becoming a Dental Hygienist. Thanks for the video!!

I’m trying to decide should i consider dental assisting I’ve always wanted to try dental hygiene , but Idk lol I did just finish my pharmacy tech program .
What is your ultimate career goal? (E.g. dentist, pharmacist, etc.) Knowing what you plan to do in the future will help out. Do you like pharmacy so far?

I want to become a dental assistant to get experience for this dental hygiene program, but I have no work experience and idk if I’ll get the job
omg go for it, I just got a job that’s willing to show me everything. I have zero experience, but I still got the job! just apply to many places, and you’ll get hired eventually.
So I’m a current college student and I want to be a oral surgeon and my aunt is a dentist and encourages me to try to get a dental assistant job with no experience to get an idea of my future career so where do I start and how can I get hired somewhere to get the early experience?
You can look for ads for sterile tech. That's how I started, and trained on the job. You learn alot
You can also call offices and just let them know your situation. Sometimes your own dental office will take you and atleast let you volunteer....
Omg how did u prepare for ur working interview?
I am also a PCT and I have my dental assistant job interview tomorrow, no experience I would like to either because a oral surgical assistant or dental hygienist. still depending
Are you a dental assistant now?

Aww thank you love! 🧡
Did you take the radiation safety certification or xray certification ?
Hello! No I didn’t take certification for x-rays. Although I was recommended too, at the office I worked at at the time, didn’t require it. But I also had several radiology courses and requirements in hygiene school that helped out tremendously. But I would definitely take certification, I would recommend it
Really good information 🫶🏾!
😙😁
Omg I’m studying dental assistant and is so hard I’m so scare if when I finish I don’t get hired that’s my biggest worry
Same here 😢
Hi, can u share after a year with this comment, how's your dental assistant job now?. Could u passed n get certificate?, could u find a work?. I a planning learn dental assistant, and i dunno how hard it is. TIA
How you find a job as dental assistant sis
Thank u great video
What’s was your schedule as a dental assistant while Going to school.
Unfortunately I only worked like maybe 2-4 times a month. School was my priority at the time and taking 6-8 classes a semester for hygiene school, I found little time to work. But it could differ for everyone, I know a few of my classmates that were working a few times a week and managed just fine!
How can I apply for it am interesting
I love you tt😘🤣😃😄
Why would u go to hygiene school and dental assisting school? Doesn't dental hygiene school teach u everything above the rest?
