    I start my externship tomorrow as a dental assistant. It’s very exciting but also nerve wrecking being in the real world and working on REAL patients lol. This video has helped me a lot I’m taking notes right now so that I can be as prepared as I need to be for tomorrow. I’m subscribed and will be recommending your videos to more of my classmates also. Thanks again ! It’s going to help me loads. I’m hoping to get hired ! Fingers crossed 🤞🏽🤞🏽

      Candice McManaway it’s going really great actually I feel like I’ve been here for a month already. Everyone is easy going and so helpful. I know this isn’t always the case for all offices but I was truly blessed to get this office. Really nice people. I’m a fast learner also so everything is just coming to me naturally as it was taught to me in school. Don’t be nervous or let the pressure get to you. Just relax and remain confident even if you aren’t that excelled or proficient in a certain area just be willing to learn and willing to help others around you.

      i am also new as an assistant and yesterday i worked with a substitute dentist for the first time and she was so sweet and she gave me tips and today i worked with the regular dentist who is a perfectionist with demands and did not do anything right in her eyes i have cried because of that and wanted to stop. she doesn't want to assist with me anymore... it also depends on the dentist how understanding they are.

      Ashley Fortier I started back in mid April with absolutely no experience & am finally starting to feel very confident! It is very very difficult I agree but it definitely gets better. Everyone would tell me when I started that the more I chair side assist, the more I’ll learn which is hard to hear when you are a nervous wreck like me but it’s 100% true. Dental assisting I’ve learned is very repetitive! Hang in there because it gets so much better & you will do great.

      Ms. Monge Valenzuela Mesial is the surface of the tooth that is closest to the midline of the mouth, which is the vertical line that divides the mouth in half. Distal is the surface of the tooth that is the furthest away from the midline of the mouth. It is hard to explain without visuals, so my advice would be to look at diagrams, this helps a lot when preparing for your boards.

    Hi and I halt working as a DA in 2000 due to be becoming a caregiver for my mom. Did it for almost 20 years and I liked it. Unfortunately, most of the offices I worked at was horrible with jealousy, no team work and politics. My favorite was Endodontic, so maybe you can do a video on that. Enjoy watching to review just in case I want to return to the field. Wish the had that needle protector back in my days. Keep up the good work.

    WHYYYY does USA number their teeth different to every other country

      Michelle Banning how do they do it in other countries?

    • @KirstenLisaMari
      @KirstenLisaMari 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jess Rodriguez in Canada and most countries we label them based on the quad starting at the midline. So in the US the front tooth to the right (they call number 8 we would call a 11. The tooth beside that going toward the back of the mont would be a 12. For example, a wisdom tooth in the lower right is a 48 because it is the 8th tooth in the 4th quadrant. A premolar on the lower left would be a 5 because is it the 5th tooth in the 3rd quadrant. Which makes a lot more sense once you get into things like tooth surfaces. As far as I’m concerned it’s a lot easier to figure out where the medial of a 11 is than an 8. (This is from the perspective of a dental receptionist - been i t he field over a decade). :)

Currently partaking in on the job training after a year of being a care coordinator. I've done a lot of things as a healthcare professional, and am excited to get on to the next chapter. If I had known about the benefits to working in dental versus medical I would've avoided hospital settings and went straight to dental. Anyway, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge with the world. Hoping to return to work day by day, surprising my peers by knowing things they wouldn't expect for me to know. I appreciate you! 🖤

      yanet I just finished a 7 month DA program and there was a lot of material to understand, I don’t think the 12 week program would prepare you for the field since it’s such a short amount of time. Also, most 12 week programs aren’t accredited so look into that as well. You will enjoy the field !🦷✨💉

      I did a 6 month program and felt as though I didn’t really learn much. It was a lot of book work and barely any lab. Most people who did the few week program actually learned at a clinic. They seemed to know way more than I did because I feel that you won’t learn unless you’re actually in the hot seat. That was just my experience though

      I did a 3 month program, 11 weeks total. I think that the more school u get, the more u have on ur resume. But always get some hours in a actual dental office as much as u can. But it is true, u dont get as much inside knowledge in a shorter program. Studying doesn't end for me xD

      I did an 11 month dental assistant course at my local Technical school. At first my thought was what could they teach us about teeth in 11 months, seems like a long time for teeth. Boy was I in for it. Teeth are a part of it. It's all things that can be done to make teeth better for the patient. Take the time to get educated in the field. It's eye opening.

      @@yasminvilla8481 it took me a little while to get the hang of it! I was an Emt before. So it was a huge change in pace. I was the only assistant since we are such a small office. It’s a fun job to have even if it’s a stepping stone in your career. I took some time at home to review tooth numbers and tools your doctor needs for procedures. The biggest tip I can give you is when setting up for your procedures take pictures of your table so you remember. That helped me catch on so much faster. And don’t be afraid to ask for help. My dentist is amazing and taught me so much. With having no experience it is so easy to get flustered and frustrated but just remind yourself you’re brand new. Give it 3 months of constant routines- dentistry is repetitive depending on your specialty. But it is a very fun and rewarding job!
