Honestly I’ve seen way more female assistants than males. I met two male doctors, but usually they try not to base anything off of gender. Patients seem to not prefer anyone specific from what I noticed, but again it was only female assistants everywhere I went.
Yes I've seen male DA and I've heard Dr's like male so they don't have to worry about pregnancy and tight schedule. That's what I've read and heard. Lol good luck

I only studied for the CDA exam because that was the only requirement I was told of. I recommended only taking the CDA because most offices really just want you certified in that area.

Katalyst - Congrats! The certificate didn’t really help much.. I recommend looking for internships when you’re almost done. Most offices require experience, but the school offers help looking for some as well so make sure you reach out.

Wow I’m glad I found this I’m starting my DA online program in Oct I’m active duty as well and been trying to reclass and can’t so I’m doing it through a class from army ignited... I’m scared and worried that I wouldn’t learn as well like at a regular DA school and I’m also in GA where are you? And they do help find externship and I heard if you ask on post they are likely to take you because your a service member

JazzieJeff Barham I’m sure you’ll be great! No need to be nervous. I also looked into TH-cam videos showing everything that is done to get a better visual with everything. The pay start for regular DA’s is $14 from all the places I’ve looked at/ been to. A lot of places have a high turn over for DA’s as well so you’ll see a lot of job postings every now and then. They recommend going for hygienists after dental assisting for better pay though.
It prepares you for exams throughout the program with what is teached. They will also send a book that you can use to study for all of the certifications. No problem!
@@elizabethsantos5807 As long as you pass your state exams you’ll be able to complete x-rays and etc. Even if you don’t complete the program most offices will eventually ask for you to take the exams so you can complete those task as well in their office. The diploma is really just for the program. The certifcates is what you’ll have to get outside of the program, I hope that helps.
Hi, the program I’m looking into is also online but they offer a 40 hour externship. They have online classes or one day out the week classes. Do you think I would be able to find a job quick ?
With the externship you should be able to since you would have some experience hand ons. It really just depends on the office and how much experience they prefer for you to have.

Take them at a specific place for the certificate. Due to covid it could have changed I’m not sure. You can check that out online by looking up your state requirements. All the school exams were online.

Yes it’s legit! They teach you everything you need to know. The only con in my opinion was not doing anything hands on. I recommend getting a internship towards the end of the program before trying to go into the field.

I ended up becoming an employee at the first office. I think the internship requirement was 200 hours. I guess it just depends on who you go to.

No they just send your diploma to you by mail.

Dumb question I’m sorry but IM INTERESTED in the dental assistant certificate at penn foster but is is legit ?? Like I really will be considered a dental assistant and do they teach X-rays and all ?? And what is an internship ? I’m sorry once again 😭
Yes it’s legit! They teach you everything you need to know. The only con in my opinion was not doing anything hands on. I recommend getting a internship towards the end of the program before trying to go into the field.

It was more of a career progam. Much easier than college because you only do the courses regarding the career path you choose.
