    Thanks for showing part numbers of the fittings used! Been having major issues with my TBI not running right, it's been parked for almost a month, being driven around the block just to keep it charged, sounding like crap the whole time lol. Picked up a cheap rebuilt holley 600 street warrior carb, then once I order all the parts over the next couple weeks, I'll put everything together and have my truck back.
    It's bored 30 over, on vortec heads, an edelbrock vortec to carb intake, and a mild cam. Even with a chip made for my build, it has never ran the best it could.
    Thanks again for the video, it helped a ton for ordering parts. I was seriously about to put fuel injection clamps on some rubber lines slipped over the feed and return lines. Nothing scares me more than a fuel leak, so I'm glad ICT has made those parts.

    I got lucky with the TBI on my OG 305 in my '87 swb.
    It was a fairly rough truck when I bought it a few years back. But after a basic gasket rebuild, and replacing the sloppy distributor with another from a junkyard, she fired right up and ran smooth.
    I'm usually a carb guy. But I'm diggin' not having to pump the gas and mess with a choke and sit there and baby sit it as it warms up. 😎

      I've had great luck with some TBI units and some that have fought me to the end! When running correctly a TBI is pretty sweet! But on this one I believe the throttle shaft was worn out causing air to leak as well as something funny with the ECU. And to be honest I thought it would make some decent content, potentially helping some other guys wanted to go down this route.

      @@BestDamnShopAround Yeah, that's why I say "lucky" when it comes to my TBI. (Though I expect it'll start giving me issues any day now. 😉)
      It seems most don't work well and even after you fire the parts cannon at it, it still fights you. So I don't blame anyone for carb-converting it.

    I am old school die hard Carb guy but the TBI system when running good is bullet proof and will run a long time. Watched the video No Nonsense that travels all over the United states with his Girl Freind picked up a 2500 Suburban I think it was a 89 in Vegas it sat for years had TBI Chris got it running did basic over haul to get it running drove it from Vegas to Penn and averaged 18 miles to the gallon . What full size Suburban gets freaking 18 miles to the gallon with old dirty injectors and probably a worn out throttle body? I was blown away I figured 12 would be max. If you did a bushing kit and rebuilt the throttle body and put in new injectors it would run good and never let you down . Love TBI good cold starts and excellent MPG and simple cant ask for anything better than that

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You're right, when they work correctly they're great! This particular one didn't run well and instead of investing time and money and rebuilding it I decided to go with a carburetor with the future plans of removing this drive train and putting it in an older style hot rod which would make it even harder to have TBI. 18 MPG and a 2500 suburban is very impressive!

    This is a very well laid out and informative video. I saved this to my Playlist for reference later on. Bought a "barnfind" 92 c3500 crew cab dually from Texas. 454/5speed 2wd. 😢Been sitting for 20 years, got it running, new everything pertaining to the tbi and ignition, and it still doesn't run right. Been working on it for almost a year, it's finally reliably starting every time, but I've stuck more into getting the drivability right, than it cost to buy the truck in the first place.
    At this point im tired of the gutless tbi, engine and all and I'm swapping it out for a built 454. I'm hoping for over 550 whp. We'll see. 😂 this truck has been fighting me tough from day one. I see why the previous owner left it in a field. 😅

    How will all this work if you have a 4l60e

      You'll have to get an independent transmission controller.

    Great video! I have a 2001 s10 4.3. No one can get it to start. A little either and it runs great from then on. New computer and a bunch of other stuff! Tired of fooling with it

      Thank you! I know that they made a carburetor version of the 4.3 that came in some Marine applications. Might want to look into that, imagine an intake manifold will be the hardest part on that truck

    Nice! I'm looking at doing this with my 2000 Celica. Your fuel pump is designed to operate at 12v with an internal pressure at 35ish psi. When you restrict the flow after the fact, you may be putting undo pressure on the pump. As a result, this pump won't survive long. Instead, run a PWM signal to the pump. It'll still take the 12 volts, but the output pump pressure is vastly reduced. Depending on the PWM pulse, it reduces how long the pump is actually turned on. Kind of like turning a light on and off really fast. th-cam.com/video/YmPziPfaByw/w-d-xo.html. The reduced pressure will save your pump giving it many more years.

    Going the wrong way. Shoulda gone from TBI to MPFI. Modern gas just doesn’t work with carburetors anymore.

      Multi port is definitely better but out of the budget for this project. I've had pretty good luck with modern fuel in carburetor vehicles, but I love in Georgia and I believe we have pretty good fuel here.

    What you do is just put a mechanical fuel pump or a little electric one on the frame and call it a day and you know how to mess with any of this crap

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This motor isn't drilled for a mechanical fuel pump, and the electric inline pumps I've had bad luck with. I opted to use an 87 model tank, sending unit, pump, and a fuel pressure regulator
