I’m in the process of freshening up my 90 Silverado. Been watching lot of TBI mod videos. Picked up the pod spacer as well as the thick spacer that sits on top of the manifold. Have the TBI apart and sitting in my ultrasonic cleaner now. Thanks for sharing.
If this was a forced induction like a turbo or super charger I would agree that more fuel would be needed. But this mod allows air to"freely" and "smoothly" flow into the engine and yes more air will get in but not enough to justify more fuel. As stated already, you can do the quarter mod if it makes you feel better but I have done this exact mod without it many times and fuel ratios are fine.
One of the problems with the TBI is the loose specs GM allows on the injectors fuel flow. They can be inbalanced right from the factory. Buying balanced injectors can help alot to insure your not only getting the corect fuel flow to each bank, but that the flow is evenly matched. If fuel flow is uneven between the 2 injectors your running more lean/rich between banks. There are companies who match injectors for you. Cheap improvement.
I haven't done any scientific study on it but it does let more air in. There are many reports in forums of an increase in mpg. I unfortunately like the sound of my exhaust too much to test it.
Nothing wrong with placebo mods. Keeps kids off drugs and makes things look nicer. Great attention to detail and ignore the haters.

Just drop holley sniper. Holley just copy tbi cars from the 90s biggest advantage is that the sniper is fully tunable from your phone.

The heads on these engines limit the air flowing in so no real point
Does this mod do anything for fuel mileage?

I need to do this to my truck
Just letting more air in without an additional fuel charge does nothing for performance. Money and time well wasted.
