I am a Christian and this just warms my heart ❤️ seeing two groups that society says don’t normally get along being able to talk and hear each other out is awesome. Both sides weren’t pushy and they just listened to each other. I have a lot of LGBTQ friends and these are some conversations we actually have with each other
@Methyl I know that because like I said I’m a Christian. I was saying it’s nice hearing the two sides get along and be respectful :) hopefully it clears that up
The Christian man with the dark button-up said the most important statement of this entire video: "I don't think the job of a Christian is to get people to behave in a certain way..."
Agreed because of the fact that in today’s society, a Christian (non-denominational) typically is more loving and accepting of others and liberal in this sense. However, in the Bible it clearly states we are out here to teach others and inspire others and spread the word of the gospel. Not to make everyone get along. But to stand up for what is right and to fight against what is wrong. There’s not a lot of grey area in the Bible, however our society tends to translate Gods word with a more passive tone in my opinion. But I was genuinely humbled by that man as well, I think we all know he has a great heart, no matter how closely he follows scripture.
Jon Hanson Because many people say it through hate when they are coming from a place of expressing who they love. It’s a fact that the LGBTQ community is criticized and told they will go to hell for their love. That is an act of judgement and hate that no one wants from another person.
Beautiful conversation between real, genuine humans who have all gone through life in different ways that led them to become who they are now. This openness is what the world needs now more than ever.
All I’m going to say is in regards to the on the pronoun topic. I’m a Christian. I am conservative. I have my beliefs. But if I’m going to expect people to respect my beliefs, then I need to respect theirs. So if someone prefers a certain pronoun, I will respect that. I firmly believe that part of being a Christian and spreading Christ’s love is in meeting people where they are and how they need to be met.
@Janey The Bible acknowledges different kinds of love. The Bible was originally written in several different languages, which have different words that all translate to "love" in English. God loves everyone in the sense that He desires the good for all His creation and He will sacrifice for them and that he cares for them. It's a pure, platonic, and gentle love and it's called agape. The Bible isn't talking about sexual love in that context. The Bible teaches that sexual love is intended for marriage and just like cars are a good thing until we use them in ways they weren't intended for (i.e. hitting a pedestrian), sexual love is also good until we use it in a way it wasn't intended. As Christians believe that God was the one to create sexual love, He also decides what the intended purpose is. That's how we can be for love and also disagree with homosexuality. That doesn't mean that God calls us to be hateful. We are called to love the sinner and hate the sin. It does, however, call us not to pretend that it's good.
@Janey That's rather defensive to be honest. She never even mentioned hell in her comment to you (unless there's a deleted comment im not seeing, if there is, i truly stand corrected). There can honestly never be any agreement between a member of the LGBT+ community and a true bible believing Christian, because you''ll always be on coming from different ideological stand points. That being said, hate (and not in the way we tend to use it today, as in someone disagreeing with an opinion) is absolutely not of God. No one has the right to insult you, most especially if they say they're Christian, because that is not God's way, all speaking and interaction should be done in love. However, love, we forget is not just roses and all as the world puts it. If you're Christian you know that love is patient, kind, not jealous, boastful, or proud. Does not delight in or think of evil, is not easily provoked, does not seek its own, rejoices in the truth, bears, believes, hopes and endures all things and never fails. That being said, someone who is truly acting out of love will never tell you that that lifestyle is appropriate, not to demean you but to bring to your attention the reality of sin. Especially sexual sin, which ins't just confined to the LGBTQ+ lifestyle but traverses all others that you can think of, including fornication. That is definitely not an easy message to receive (most especially if you have no regard for Christianity) and that is very understandable. But someone who truly loves you and is acting out of Godly love, you may find their disagreement hateful, but they truly care about your eternal well being (even if you may think its not important).
Janey I mean, I know my parents believe differently than me. But again, we meet each other with respect and compassion. So if that’s one thing I took from my own upbringing, I’m happy enough with that :)
it’s a pity it’s only 15-minute long, I’d watch them talk a whole night away 😂 I like that they’re being friendly and respectful not changing their minds at the same time
Well, OF COURSE they're going to be civil with a camera crew supervising, while they're in a room full of moderators standing out of the shot... You honestly think if this conversation took place unsupervised and with no cameras that it wouldn't devolve into yelling, name calling and fisticuffs? It's easy to act civilized when you know you're being watched. Don't applaud to loudly for humanity just yet, because we really haven't come as far as we like to give ourselves credit for.
@@JulesThePsion And do you honestly think if this was unsupervised it would devolve into a full out argument? Realistically, do you actually think the people they chose for this would do that? Even if, the reason they brought together people like this and are supervising them is to prevent that from happening. To basically to force a civil conversation to happen. The reason I said "so damn refreshing" is because I *don't* applaud humanity and its nice to see something like this happening for once.
@@immortal2318 Admittedly, you're probably right. None of them strike me as particularly violent. The worst you'd probably get with them, minus the supervision, is a few raised voices. It WAS civil, and that was no accident.
This is what the world needs. People from different views litteraly sitting down and explaining what they believe in without getting angry with each other. Well done.
Moonchild17 yes dignity and self respect are the two major factors, but, people don't care as much about their dignity when surrounded by only a few people, but if cameras are rolling, anyone can see it, so they are more conscious of their image.

@@martinbuhrer3893 Also, in a situation like this, what are they disagreeing about? Most Christians don't "agree" on the existence or right for LGBTQ+ people to exist. They can't change who they are so they're just going to have to accept it.

Summer Breeze I’m sorry, but love should not be a sin. If God created all of us, does that not mean that He created us to love the way we do, and if it is such a big issue to Him, can He not just change it?
Summer Breeze Perhaps I know not the reality of life however if the reality is that I am not free to love whom I love and feel the way I feel simply because I am not straight, then I suppose I would rather live in a fantasy in which I have equal rights to love than in a reality in which I am hated for loving the way I do.
Summer Breeze And I would much rather be sent to Hell after I die for being who I am than be sent to Heaven for living a lie. If God is saying that I cannot love the way I do and love whom I do then I would rather spend my afterlife with the devil than spend it with God. I do believe it, and I am not sure if I like it or not. I was set upon this path when wrath became a part of my life after I was betrayed by my teacher and humiliated in front of my class in Grade 5. I was set upon this path by those whom have hurt me because they have shown me sin and honestly, I liked it. I did not choose to love the way I do. I did not chose to be Pansexual, however I would not give it up for anything. I would never change being Pansexual even if it means that God will cause me to be tortured for eternity, because if He cannot accept that the way I love is a type of love, then I want no part of His Heaven. I stand by my words.

I'm a trans woman in her 30s who met a college age girl who is christian in ice skating class and we've become such good friends we call eachother sisters. I've learned from her to be more responsible and stop playing the victim and she's learned from me to stand up for herself and be more open minded while maintaining her faith. Her mother really likes me and my dad really likes her. It was our differences that helped both of us grow.
I have a question and i just want to be Further educated. So to be clear when you/anyone says they are a trans women that means the transition was from male to female right?
@@maddietoodleman8428 yes. It means male to female. Trans man is female to male. I would like to say without judgement or condemnation that in 2020 I almost never get asked that question because of how common knowledge it's become. The only time "trans man" refers to a male to female is incorrectly used in hateful anti lgbt propaganda designed to deliberately hurt us.
(Cis female here) I feel like this is something that is important that I have always thought is never really talked about. I think it is respectful to use someone's preferred pronoun because that's just common sense. However, I think people in general should be less uptight about what people call them. I've been pretty tomboyish all my life and even though my long hair and figure pretty obviously give me away, I've still been addressed as 'sir' by strangers. They were all still being respectful as an address, they weren't making fun of my appearance, and they were honest mistakes. Many of my close friends also lovingly refer to me as a dude because I dislike the female tendency for trickery and usually end up as "one of the guys." I suppose that people may have questioned if I ever felt like a male. No, I still feel like I am female, but I've always thought pretty loosely about it. I was never 'dysphoric' about my gender, more like... my sex is female and that's chill and I'm fine with that, but if others see me in more of a masculine light then that's cool too. I would say my gender is 'female, but doesn't care.' Not enough to be non-binary, just loosened thinking about the whole thing. I don't think it really matters as what people see me as because I just am. Maybe some days I am feeling pretty dude-ish, but I don't feel that makes me trans or non-binary. I do think that the majority of trans people would be okay with slip ups with their pronoun as long as it's respectful. Sure, get mad at people using the wrong pronoun as a purposeful slander. But I do know of trans people that will flip out if someone even thinks their pronoun incorrectly, and I think that mentality needs to change. Maybe you feel one thing, and another person sees you just a little differently in their mind's eye. It doesn't mean they're being rude or disrespectful, they just have a different perspective. I really like what she said in the video that her partners would sometimes refer to her as their boyfriend and she was okay with that because she was also honoring their level of comfort without getting offended by it. Some people are really uncomfortable with using "they" for another person because english grammar says that a singular person is not a plural they. It's not because they hate you or are trying to delegitimize you as an individual.
congrats! You can feel empathy :D Sadly that's something a lot of people on the internet lack lol I'm bisexual and atheist, but I've met some really nice and lovely christians. I won't judge you based on your race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc. I'll judge you as a human being. And if you can be respectful, it's only fair for me to be respecful back.
@@casie6609 Just because you dont support them doesn't mean theres no respect. Fun fact: Everyone has different opinions and sexuality is just one of many things in life. Just because I dont support one small thing about you doesn't mean I dont respect you.
@@jacktherex9242 It has nothing to do with people's opinions. It has to do with their identities, who they are. If someone is not going to call trans people by their correct pronouns, that's extremely disrespectful. You can't have a conversation with someone who doesn't even acknowledge who you are. I'm a girl and was born a girl, and if someone called me a boy seriously I wouldn't give them the time of day. With sexuality, no one should hate who others love simply because of their gender. People get bullied simply for being gay, many of them are even abused. It's not ok if you support any type of hate against them. Even if you say "I'm not ok with you being lesbian but I like you as a friend", that is absolutely not respectful. How would you like it if someone said that to you? If someone said they're not ok with me being straight, I wouldn't give them the time of day either. This logic doesn't just apply to the LGBTQ+ community. For example, if people purposefully mispronounce someone's name, that's disrespectful, and that person shouldn't even give them the time of day. These are very basic things an intro of a conversation cover, and for anyone to not be ok with these things is not ok. If you don't like the community, that's a you problem. Don't spread your negativity onto them. They will never change who they are, just as we won't change who we are. It's no different. Maybe put yourself in their shoes for once? If someone tries to force a gay person to be straight, how do you think they feel? I certainly would be astonished if I was pressured into being gay as a straight girl (just a hypothetical, would never happen ofc). Not accepting people's existence is different than having different opinions than them. No one cares about opinions, it's about giving them the respect they deserve and accepting who they are just as people do to you. Hope this makes sense.

“I’d be dishonest if I said that when I sat down and prayed and listened... I didn’t hear” that’s powerful stuff coming from someone who is seen by society as anti-Christian
HyPe Faytal i’m sorry, and i hope this doesn’t come off as mean or rude in any way, but that is simply not how christian faith works. you’re not literally going to HEAR god speak to you in words but the way you feel and the way you live your life will definitely start to change if that’s what your heart truly wants. unfortunately only praying once and quitting because you didn’t “hear” god sounds a bit ridiculous to me. in their defense maybe they don’t know much about religion
@@typicaldigicamenjoyer No offense taken. I think you misread/misheard the quote. He's saying that he would be DISHONEST if he said he DIDNT hear. Thus, he did hear god. It is very much possible to hear god speak to you in words. I know many people who have had a spiritual encounter and heard/seen/spoken with god. God bless.
HyPe Faytal wow shame on me, i totally misread the quote. i apologize for that haha. but even still, i feel a large misconception for non believers is that when you pray god will literally speak to you, when god can tell you things through almost anything. i definitely have heard testimonies saying that they have actually hear the voice of god or heard words spoken to them. again my apologies for misreading the quote. have a blessed day!
I am a future music educator, and I would love to see a Middle Ground video with parents and teachers talking about issues in the American education system
But teachers have to stick to the curriculum, they don't choose what they teach and just because they're an educator doesn't mean they believe the system is good.
I don’t understand why some people in this comment section are hating on the blue haired girl. She was just stating her opinions and views in a respectful manner just like everyone else
any two people that can understand having a disagreement is okay, are bound to get along, and can respect each other enough to see eye to eye on other matters. People can be civil even with differing beliefs. I don't understand when people started deciding that being offended, and having a disagreement, meant two people couldn't get along.
Say I believe in slavery. Would you respect my view and agree to disagree? Would we get along because it’s just different and not any worse or better than anti-slavery? I think if two people sat down and disagreed about the tastiness of broccoli, then sure. Agree to disagree and everything’s fine; it’s a largely inconsequential topic that doesn’t result in any damage to others. But when somebody holds violent, hateful, dangerous, and/or ignorant beliefs, I don’t think it’s going to help to just agree to disagree and get along.
Funkin The thing is maybe I think your beliefs are ignorant and quite frankly dangerous so who gets to determine that? Yes I would respect your right to believe in slavery and your right to stand at a corner promoting it however it's my right to criticize it, ignore it or point and laugh at you for having such a ridiculously backwards belief. The line is drawn at violence or the call for violence that I won't tolerate. I'm a pretty far right leaning conservative, freedom of speech is needed most on the issue that are sensitive subjects and unpopular opinions that's what it's there to protect. I'm not saying the ideas both the good and bad shouldn't be criticized and scrutinized through constructive logical argumentation.
Funkin I think it depends on your goal. If your goal is to convince the person who likes slavery, then a reasoned discussion is probably the best way to accomplish that. On the other hand, if you are talking in public, you are more likely to want to expose such an idea as ludicrous. You should want such people to shout their foolish views from the rooftops so you can annihilate them in front of more people, exposing the evil of slavery for all to see. I also think agreeing to disagree is too often just a cop out for not wanting to do the work of reasoning.
Katia well I mean straight chicks constantly assume that I have a crush on them because I’m a lesbian and I’m not allowed to see my cousin after I came out so I think you can deal with a little joke
That dude would be wrong though.. Jesus said that if you even look at a woman lustfully, you already committed adultery in your heart. Therefore, you've sinned. That applies to any gender/sex. He was basically expressing how high God's standard is, when it comes to what He considers to be sin. It makes you realize that it's impossible for any of us to be sinless. Therefore, we can't be saved through our own works or by being sinless, because it's impossible for any human to be sinless. Therefore we need an atonement that will take our sins from us, so that we may be accepted into a place as perfect as heaven, a place where no sin is allowed to exist. Changing your mind from sin, and accepting Jesus as your Messiah is what atones and washes you from your sins, allowing you to be accepted into heaven as a perfect being without sin. Jesus was sinless, which proves that He's not just an ordinary man. The Bible says the punishment of sin is death. So since He didn't commit any sin, He didn't deserve death. He had to be sinless, not only to prove that He's no ordinary man, but also so that He could be a worthy enough sacrifice to pay for the sins of all who believe in Him. It isn't religion.. It's a relationship with the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ.

This is the most chill LGBTQ+ and Christian debate I’ve ever seen. We need more conversations like this.
That is what is so great about these Jubilee conversations. Human beings being decent human beings to one another.
Debates have been ruined by a single party that claims hate speech because you may disagree with them........Today we see nothing but labeling and division that has been fueled by Mainstream Media......Example....IF you like Trump, rather than a professional and respectful debate as we see here......We are left with: You're a racist, homophobic, anti-American, white supremacist, woman hating, womanizing individual!! I hate you, Die!.......This is what we see today from the very individuals who completely contradict themselves by stating they want unity and peace....We are left with division and hate.
It's sad....Look what happened to Ellen Degeneres by sitting next to Bush.....Can't even enjoy anything without being attacked today. America is bleeding....
I find Jubliee is relatively good at finding people who actually want to generate discussions and not just stand on a soapbox. The only one I feel that completely fell apart and became toxic was the flat earth one.
@@Bamboozled007 On the public scale [stuff we see, AKA the Media], whom I believe you are trying to indirectly portray, yes we have seen that type of dialogue. But I have many Conservative friends who repeat the exact behaviors, which you mention, toward non Trump supporters. 1. If you do not agree with me, you are a overly sensitive Trump hater, 2. You can't take my gun but I will do everything in my power to rid abortion because it kills innocent people, which a gun can do as well but we will not mention that because it does not fit the dialogue in which they are trying to prove, 3. Socialism is bad and we will rally against it and who ever supports it is a communist, because not to mention the VA HealthCare, the Road System, Public Education, and many other public goods are also funded via the uses of tax payer dollars, redistributed to the betterment of the welfare of all Americans [this does not mean I support a full scale socialist operated country, just a heads up if you plan to contradict me via the "who's gonna pay for it, so unfair" etc etc]. These are just many upon many examples that I have had encounters with in terms of my Conservative network.
Now, I personally am not a Trump supporter for various reasons, but I do not disagree with all or any of his policies just becayse of the Trump name brand. An attitude I saw a lot among pro and anti trump supporters when he came out with TrumpCare. Even though it was shown it would have been worse than ObamaCare, many supporters got behind it because trump did it and now makes it better and vice versa. Just one such dialogue.
So while I agree with your statement on how debate has been clouded in the last few years, it is in no way being clouded by partisan Democrats/media/trump haters, whatever name you come up for them today and in the future.

YESSSS!! Our job is to love each other love God and serve each other
Agreed because of the fact that in today’s society, a Christian (non-denominational) typically is more loving and accepting of others and liberal in this sense.

But if I’m going to expect people to respect my beliefs, then I need to respect theirs. So if someone prefers a certain pronoun, I will respect that. Thanks! You're awesome!
I wish all christians were like you but instead some choose to spread hate instead of love. You're so sweet 💛

It is so damn refreshing to see people have a geniune, civilized conversation about this
Well, OF COURSE they're going to be civil with a camera crew supervising, while they're in a room full of moderators standing out of the shot...

Rusty:
Cameras dont stop people from fighting, dignity and self - respect does.
Moonchild17 yes dignity and self respect are the two major factors, but, people don't care as much about their dignity when surrounded by only a few people, but if cameras are rolling, anyone can see it, so they are more conscious of their image.

Summer Breeze God doesn't hate us he hates the sin we commit...

Many of my close friends also lovingly refer to me as a dude because I dislike the female tendency for trickery and usually end up as "one of the guys."
I suppose that people may have questioned if I ever felt like a male.
@Dawson Walker Thank you!
Violet Patina ‘female tendency for trickery’??
This was surprisingly civil, and I appreciate that.
The fact that they were all so respectful makes me respect them
congrats! You can feel empathy :D
Sadly that's something a lot of people on the internet lack lol
I'm bisexual and atheist, but I've met some really nice and lovely christians. I won't judge you based on your race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc. I'll judge you as a human being. And if you can be respectful, it's only fair for me to be respecful back.
They weren't all respectful. The Christian saying "I love you but don't support you" is not respect.

@@typicaldigicamenjoyer no worries, i agree! u too :)
As a Christian, I thought that was powerful. Its safe to say not all LGBTQ people are anti-Christian. I never thought that.
I'm a straight Christian and I don't judge the LGBT community, nor disrespect them.
"Treat others as you would want them to treat you" 😁
Go and read matthew 5: 38 - 48..
Juking Thao yes, exactly.
And @Carlos, you can judge. But you have to look at yourself before you judge others. Matthew 7:1-5.
Juking Thao uh..yeah. I don't judge at all lol
Jesus himself said that the most important law in the Bible was to “love your neighbor as yourself”
I am a future music educator, and I would love to see a Middle Ground video with parents and teachers talking about issues in the American education system
I feel like it'd be more interesting to see parents and/or teachers vs the government officials or county officials talking about those issues
vicinheimr How about teachers and students? Teachers and the oh so horrible Betsy Devos works too
I would say teachers vs. state education officials
But teachers have to stick to the curriculum, they don't choose what they teach and just because they're an educator doesn't mean they believe the system is good.
Teachers Union Representatives versus parents of the students who are fed the curriculum put in place by the unions
I don’t understand why some people in this comment section are hating on the blue haired girl. She was just stating her opinions and views in a respectful manner just like everyone else
@@Jonathaninhiscar bro what💀
any two people that can understand having a disagreement is okay, are bound to get along, and can respect each other enough to see eye to eye on other matters. People can be civil even with differing beliefs. I don't understand when people started deciding that being offended, and having a disagreement, meant two people couldn't get along.
Same here my friend!
Exactly, there's nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree
I also think agreeing to disagree is too often just a cop out for not wanting to do the work of reasoning.
this comment is edited so you don’t get why i have so many likes and the discourse in the comments makes no sense
Katia well I mean straight chicks constantly assume that I have a crush on them because I’m a lesbian and I’m not allowed to see my cousin after I came out so I think you can deal with a little joke
Ligity Digity lol
