    Good job! In the future, the chairs don't need to be scuffed as well as you did them. Primer blocks the color of the old surface from the bleeding through the new surface but it also acts like an emulsifier in that it allows two products to stick together that usually wouldn't. Example: your paint would not adhere well to that finished surface. BUT, the primer will adhere very well to the finished surface and the paint will adhere to the primer. Also, even though it doesn't look very even, one coat of primer is typically sufficient. You did a better job than was necessary which I find refreshing because most people err on the side of doing less work.

    Your chairs turned out beautiful!! Since making the video, how have they held up? Do you wish you would have sealed them after the spray paint?

    • @cortneytan6337
      @cortneytan6337  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Alexis! Omg i totally didn’t think of sealing it LOLOL but I want to say so far so good. I think the top coat seal would’ve definitely helped with the longevity of the chairs, but given then I was moving out and my roommate probably wasn’t going to take them with her to her new place, it didn’t seem too important for me. Hope this helps!

    Or you all could use degreaser then Larimer with B-I-Z Then prime paint and a clear polyurethane finish.

    Whats the difference between can paint and spray?

    • @cortneytan6337
      @cortneytan6337  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I found that spray paint was a faster for application and applied a more even coat all around the chair. You are more than welcome to use can paint if you like! It just requires more attention to detail and is less user friendly especially for beginners!

    i dont know why nobody is willing to say it but the chairs looked awesome before restoration. but its ALOT easier to paint for sure.

    The chairs came out really neat - appreciate your video as I am about to do literally the same today.
    It's 2022 now- I am glad that people are much wiser now and don't need to wear these face strains which make simple act of breathing unbearable- especially in hot and humid areas

    to refurnish is to add furniture to a room, I think you mean reFINISH or reFURBISH which is to restore and add a new finish to an item.

    • @cortneytan6337
      @cortneytan6337  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Personally I was going for the cheapest option and was open to the length of time it took. The only issue with the electric sander is the difficulty of getting in the creases. But it is fully up to you how you want to start!
