    Great vid... i remember back in the day you just put a belt on but now its always a kit with water pump... how times have changed. Guess it was a dealer thing that started to ramp the repair bills up.

    • @Taz6688
      @Taz6688 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to do everything he is doing to change the water pump, they don't recommend re-using the cambelt unless it's fairly new, so it makes sense to replace both while the engine is stripped down, even though the water pump may well last year's longer, it used to be the case they leaked from the bearing seal rather than broke so would be used for much longer.

      As long as you keep up with the regular servicing and the car is thrashed too hard no reason it shouldn’t last a very long time !

    • @tarkadsiz8835
      @tarkadsiz8835 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are just super lucky then! 😅😅 my SuperB is in service due to premature failure of water pump… going to change all the set with belt and tensioners anyway. It is a very common chronic problem in VW engines to fail the water pump…mine has 93k km… I even heard about the failures at around 65k km. Not the timing belt but water pump. But since the work to change a water pump is expensive, people mostly renew everything in there.

    • @troyperdue9943
      @troyperdue9943 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      How coincidental, the water pump just started leaking today at 211,578 mile. I have an appointment next week to replace it along with the cam belt kit. What brand of parts are the best? Dissatisfied about only having 82000 miles on this kit which was supposed to be OEM quality..

    Hey! This is a great demo of this issue 👍🏼 Can I pick your brain about my car that requires this 😩 I have a 2019 vw 1.6L diesel polo that has done 55k miles and VW has advised requires water pump and Cambelt replacement isn’t that premature to have to replace all that at 55k? The car is driving ok took it in due to a fluctuating temp gauge
    Any input would be much appreciated 👍🏼

    • @MrAutoFixer
      @MrAutoFixer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi 👋 I think 5 years or 80k what ever comes first is the normal for these. If you have a cooling issue they may be wanting to change the water pump to rule that out and as it’s close to the 5 year mark I would have it all changed. Hope that makes sense. Thanks
