Hey for that top cover I use elring dirko sealant great stuff, you could use most of the gasket maker sealants for that top cover and be ok 👍

You don’t need to replace the sump if you are careful and don’t bend it when removing but some people just want to replace it probably because they just wanna rip it off. I’ve never put a new sump on and never had one leak 👍

Yes head gaskets can fail on any engine, best thing to do is go and have it checked out and the relevant tests done for the engine you have 👍

@@MrAutoFixer Funny enough it's the exact same car and the same wheel bearing behind the driver side as this video, when they said £275, I laughed as the part is less then £100 and it takes no more then 15, 20 mins to do, Realistically with part and labour, what should the total cost be? As the part varies in price.

Does the misfire change cylinder if you swap over the plug and coil pack and injector to another cylinder? Have you check all the wiring ? Also check the earths too 👍

Sounds like exactly what I’m showing in the video , car has been off over night and has a misfire when you first start the car in the morning as then is fine after. If you can’t see a leak then the coolant is more likely leaking internally of the engine. 👍

Thinking surely can't throw all these codes. You Ever had 1 thing be wrong but messes with other things ?

Yes one fault can cause multiple codes, best thing to start with is to clear the codes and see what comes straight back if none come on straight away then go for a drive and check again, once you have a code if it’s only one then I would start there, also watch the live data and check the operation of the egr and see if it’s works correctly, it’s a transit so it’s defo gonna need at least one injector 😂, another test that’s good on these is a smoke test to check for boost leaks 👍 let me know how you get on

@MrAutoFixer thanks mate appreciated. I've cleared around 5 days ago when I had management light. Just had 1 code under boost Then today back on checked and had around 5 codes 😆 van had 4 new injectors around 4,000 miles ago hoping it not cost fortune lol

@MrAutoFixer im using forscan I see there's a live data bit. Silly question but I take it would just say egr live data ect. And will van need to be running awhile for egr to start showing data ?

Yes eventually the part that’s leaking will fail and give you problems, your best off getting it checked out and repaired asap really 👍

I took it to the garage and they replaced the thermostat housing but it's still leaking

Can you see the leak ? Is it dripping on the floor ? I would take it back and have a pressure tester put on it and then checked again

I can't see a leak. The garage had my car for 3 days and they didn't hadn't a clue what was wrong with it. They told me to get rid of the car

Hahha what a great garage! I’d go to a better garage that can actually fix cars and have it looked it properly! If it’s loosing coolant it’s either leaking out somewhere or it’s going internal. Just need someone to do the right checks im afraid. 👍

When they removed the spark plugs and checked did they have a coolant pressure tester hooked up ? And did he use a scope to look down the bore ?

@MrAutoFixer He had some type of pressure tool to check the coolant, but not what you used to check inside where the spark plugs was.

@Dyzhane926 ok that’s cool to do the test I did you need the pressure tester on for about an hour before checking and you really need a scope to be able to see the edge where the coolant would sit.

@MrAutoFixer No, it was a bit of time, but I don't believe it was an hour. Yeah... he didn't use a scope.He just changed the spark plugs our. I wish this was a simple fix, but I know I will find out what is going on. I'm just trying to fix it as much as possible, either myself or with him, cause he is a reasonable priced mechanic. I am going to show him this video when I talk to him again.

Hey after you have done this test and found gasses in the coolant, you can then go to check if you do have a EGR cooler, if you do then you can isolate it and then redo the test and that will give you the answer if it’s the cooler or not 👍

It could be, best way to check that is to swap the coil over from another cylinder and see if the fault goes to that cylinder, if it does then it’s a coil if it does not then you have a bigger issue 👍

Hey once the engine is timed up the belt can only go on in the grooves that are there so no chance of getting it out of time if it’s timed up correctly in the first place. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching

@@MrAutoFixer Thanks. I only wondered because I had a new timing belt fitted to a K-Series engine (in a Caterham) which was one tooth out. Ran fine, but the emissions were all over the place!

@ianbarnes961 Yh that’s old skool and easy to get the timing out but these new ones it would be hard to mess up 👍

Hey that’s nice and low milage, but I would still have the belt changed at the 5 year mark, as the belt deterioration will still happen over time as well as usage. So I would have it done if it was mine 👍

@bobmartin5101 no it doesn’t need water pump as they are not driven by the Cambelt on this model, and ball park would be 4-5 hundred 👍

@MrAutoFixer thanks for the fast response mate. I did actually contact topdon and they basically said they don't know lol. I had the exact same split hose as your video and followed it to fix my own. When you mentioned resetting the dpf status, is that different from just clearing the codes? Thanks

@urbexshauny7939 oh that’s good of them lol and when you go into the DPF there are things you can reset to tell the car that you have fixed it basically like resetting the sensors so they have fresh parameters etc all depends on what codes you have as to what you need to do.

@MrAutoFixer ok thanks. Borrowed my neighbours scanner and now I replaced both intercooler hoses the Air leak codes are gone and the only one left is the soot levels are not ok, and obviously engine lights on. His scanner can't do forced regens though and I don't want to pay out for one if that don't work either. I'm based in Essex btw

@urbexshauny7939 oh cool, the Mercedes normally have to do a driving regen that you can activate with a scanner, but you might be able to take it for a drive normally a 30 min drive about 50mph and that will do a regen but if it don’t bring down the soot levels then you will need to have it plugged in to a scanner that can activate it then try angain

If your c1 has a wet belt and had been serviced regularly, and your oil light goes out fast when you start the engine then I would say no you don’t need the sump off 👍

Deffo has a wet belt which has now become the main of my life. I've had a few garages insist it needs to come off to be cleaned . Citeron don't include taking off the sump as part of their price which was vastly cheaper then the other garages! Thank you though!

@user-nf2qo1bm8s well it’s not much extra work to take the sump off but you will need to change your oil and oil filter also so that’s going to be the extra cost. You should be looking at around £550 for the whole lot, 👍

The tensioner is ment to move about while running, have you checked the other pulleys for play and noise with the auxiliary belt off ? I use a stethoscope to pinpoint the noise if it’s not obvious. 👍

@@MrAutoFixer what a disaster, just bought a 2022 transit custom yesterday, fog light, number plate light and dip light bulb gone. Rear interior lights are changed to LED and remain on and can't turn them off...

@MarcSG90 hey I know fords don’t like led lights and will need some sort of rectifier to make them work correctly. 👍 it’s also the same if your planning on fitting a aftermarket reverse camera too 🤦‍♂️

Well I think these engines will be around for a while, as long as you look after them and keep on top of the maintenance they should be ok 👍

Hi sounds like you haven’t followed all the steps correctly make sure you have the ignition on and engine off while trying the procedure.

Hey sounds like you are in the wrong menu, try again and follow the steps in the video and you should be able to get to the right menu 👍

It should be on the same side I believe, but a Quick Look in the engine bay at where the fuel lines run and you will know 👍
