1. Avoid Peanut butter (bean not a nut), cashew butter, sunflower seed butter Alternative - walnut, halzelnut, tahini, sesame seed, pistachio butter, peeled almond butter Or add couple drops of coconut aminos to get peanutier taste 2. Avoid Regular or diet soda Alternative healthy soda recipe - Pellegrino or any sparkling water + 2 tbsp aged balsamic vinegar + squeeze fresh lime (warning - some balsamic vinegar has sugar) 3. Avoid rice + pasta, loaded with lectin. Whole grains worse than regular grains. Grains and starch turn into sugar in your body. Rice Alternative - millet, sorghum not the sweetener but the grain, cauliflower rice, konjac based rice. Pasta Alternative - shirataki noodles, konjac noodles, Big Green millet noodles, Cassava pastas, sorghum spaghetti 4. Greek yogurt - allowed the water to drip out so protein content is higher but cow’s milk yogurt sold in USA is made from casein A1 producing cows. Casein A1 is a harmful protein that can damage your gut. Alternative - goat, sheep yogurt, Buffalo milk yogurt or coconut yogurt. Make sure it’s unsweetened. Add your own vanilla extract 5. Beans. Lectins can be reduced by pressure cooker. Or use Eden or Jovial brand. They come in non-BPA containers. Jovial in glass containers. These brands pressure cook it ahead of time. NON-Bean Alternative - PINE NUTS have healthy fats and help you lose weight. If you soak pine nuts in water or chicken stock, they get a texture similar to beans. Eg. Use Pine nuts in chili (oh doc, pine nuts 500g bag at Costco $45 Jan 2023, more than doubled in price from Sept 2021 ($21)

Two things to consider: (1) Almonds are very high in oxalates, which are toxic. (2) Read the paper "Review of the potential health impact of β-casomorphins and related peptides" published by the European food safety authority. They suggest that A1 caseins are not considered unhealthy to humans.
Doc I didn't any further than peanut butter. I am sure you are right but I only eat a couple of tablespoons once or twice a week. I agree that breakfast cereal every day is death. But you have to put your recommendations in perspective.

That's not to say all soil has lead in it but for me it wasn't worth the risk. Pasta made from Konjac flour is great. I believe the company is called Livina.
In the 1960-70s we would buy 25lbs bags of unpeeled pine nuts from the Native Paiutes in Bishop/Mammoth area. I think $3.00 a bag. As kids they were fun and a pain to shell. Hard to eat alot. Now at TJ's they're very expensive for just 8oz's.
I was in hospital for blood clots 12 years ago and the doctor caring for me had me on a 'healthy' diet for the 14 days under his care. Plain Cheerios was one of his choices. I actually began to like them and after reading the label of contents, I was surprised to find that the Cheerios only had 110 cal. per 3/4 of a cup of ceral. This began my search for other cerials with the same or near calorie count. From then on, I have also tried to teach my wife and others about watching the calorie count. Steven Gundry proposed a lectin-free diet in his book The Plant Paradox (2017). It excludes a large range of commonplace foods including whole grains, legumes, and most fruit, as well as the nightshade vegetables: tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, and chili peppers.[22][23] Gundry's claims about lectins are considered pseudoscience. His book cites studies that have nothing to do with lectins, and some that show-contrary to his own recommendations-that avoiding the whole grains wheat, barley, and rye will allow increase of harmful bacteria while diminishing helpful bacteria.[24][25][26]
The results his patients experienced are documented fact. They were were not pseudoscience. I have been on a lectin-free diet for almost three months. 62 yrs old, 6 ft tall, went from 208 to 170 lbs eating lectin-free healthy foods, low sugar dark chocolate, good nuts, the healthy fruits, avoiding lectin-bomb flours, unhealthy oils, dangerous vegetables, etc. I do a shot of Moroccan olive oil every day. I feel and look better than I have in 10 years, lots of energy, and I'm wearing jeans from the 80s. Pseudoscience my ass!

I think you probably need to point out when most of these things are boiled, roasted etc. The amount of lectin is drastically reduced. The next it would be good to talk about quantity as how much are you going to consume. A jar of peanut butter ( very unhealthy) or a scraping of peanut butter on some toast ( by all accounts should be fine) Peanut butter has reduced lectins compared to raw peanuts. The next problem if you are paranoid about lectins in the peanut butter why are you recommending walnut butter etc. It is all just sounding like a religion and becoming devout follower not backed much science/trials. No food as far as I am aware ... is pure and yes some foods need to be prepared before eating, but this kind of elimination diet philosophy is simply fooling yourself. Moderation is key to most of these things.
Yes but if you have gut damage or any digestive related problems, even small amounts of these foods would be harmful for you. But for healthy people moderate amounts with good preparation seems to be ok , because our parents and older did eat theses foods everyday like grains and beans without any issues, it’s all about how you prepare the foods. Raw Nuts and seeds will cause absolutely gut damage with the time no doubt about that , but soaked roasted one are pretty fine and healthy.
@@abdulbadenjki5292 Agree, but would like just to add your body does build up some resistance to these foods and when you eliminate from your diet completely your body has less ability to deal with these foods when they are introduced. Moderation is key rather than elimination. Kind of like weight training or how we combat disease from exposure/vaccines
people also can have pine nut allergies... i think its called pine mouth. I noticed a metalic taste a while after eating pine nuts.. and it lasted a few days
So if cooking removes lectins from (beans)...then quality peanut butter (made just from crushed and ROASTED peanuts) also has the lectin problem mitigated; due to roasting. So why not say this too in the video?
I'v been eating brown / white rice my whole life , nothing wrong with it, get real , everything in moderation! If you're rich u can eat that way! Good luck in the future!
Actually we don't need any other species milk. But buffalo makes casein a2 milk so it's atleast safe to drink/eat and has a higher fat content than regular cow milk .
I’ve never seen or heard. cauliflower until I came to USA. Japanese eat white rice three times a day almost all of them, nevertheless, the Japanese longevity is highest in the world so far.
Explain to me, please, the impact of this intel about lectins and the evils of lectins in beans and how this will or does impact the Mexican community and other communities that have beans as a staple of their diet? I visited England and discovered they eat a LOT OF o kidney beans over there. They eat beans at breakfast! How does this knowledge about lectins affect these populations? Cubans" Beans and rice, sounds nice." Thus, generations of people are killing themselves eating beans (including peanuts)? Please elaborate.
Maybe this video is only for Caucasians or white people. I live in Asia, we eat regular rice 3 times a day everyday, we eat peanut butter and spaghetti, we're all fine. My grandma lived to 94 eating the same thing.
Well you will have difficulty to explain me, what exactly you getting from spaghetti or peanut butter or rice on minerals or vitamins. The wave of obesity is rolling through south East Asia too, further accelerating.
Lucky for me, I can get sheep greek yogurt where I live. So happy about it. But a question: if I can buy casein A2 yogurt, is that alright then? I have a local farmer here, that has cassein A2 cows that are free ranged. So is that ok then?
Peanuts grow below the ground. Nuts grow above the ground. I was looking for a better peanut butter and noticed 90% have sugar as the second ingredient. Found one with two ingredients, peanuts and salt. Actually tastes like peanuts. Lectins and cholesterol are everywhere in nature. The all or nothing method has rarely worked. Thin and sickly is not my choice.

Dr. Gundry do you do debates with other doctor/scientist out side your echo chamber? I think it would be great to see doctors and scientist debate all the different information that been coming out between veggies and meat eating. But I know a lot of doctors don't want their ideas challenged which I think is horrible for all. Like science get debated on a lot. Peer review challenges and such. I think it would be very informative to the general public. I would also like to know where you got the research info on the meat creating this unique sugar. In all the research I've done, never run across it, so would appreciate the link to where I can read up on that as well. I'm rather familiar with oxalates and lectin, enjoyed the refresher. Also you said meat can cause colon cancer, I've heard another dr. say the same but nether of you provided the research notes on this. The only thing I had found was research done on dead colon patients. They found massive amounts of fiber still sitting in a pouch in the colon. I'm eagerly waiting for the links so I may read more on what you been teaching us. Thanks kindly.

These suggestions won't work for everyone (and he should say that). If you're on a low oxalate diet / many of these foods are off limits. If you have interstitial cystitis again, some here are a no - go. Too many other conditions to name (IBS), (IBD), diverticulitis, chrons ...in fact anyone with ANY condition at ALL that effects their diet should definitely consult with their physician and dietitian before taking ANYONE's advice on what they should or should not eat.
jan 10 2023 ... colorado Eden brand bean cans in the local Natural Grocers store say zip about lectins being less in the cans of beans sold there. neither is this term ( lectins ) found anywhere at their website . dr gundry would be good to cite the source of his Eden beans info
I don’t understand how peanuts give no problem to so many people I know- they eat whole roasted peanuts, eat peanut butter with everything and put peanuts in everything- people in India use peanuts ( specially poor to middle class and even rich people - though it’s called the poor man’s protein source)), and they are healthy and fit nothing happens to them. They eat groundnuts( as they are originally called in their shells! How does lectins in peanuts not affect them? Do lectins cause harm to all who eat lectins from peanuts and other nuts doctor G?
If you react to a particular lectin, then it's a problem for you. Gundry's take is from dealing with a unique population of people with gut issues, which means he's not talking to ordinary folks, but people with an unsolved problem. I never had gut issues and tried the lectin free diet for a while and found ZERO effect. So I went back to eating typical foods and noticed nothing different. Reducing useless carbs is effective at reducing joint inflammation so I eat a lot more fats and proteins and go low carb using intermittent fasting as a tool to reduce glycogen stores when I'm a bad eater. Works for me.
Just research on TH-cam and you will find answers. Dr Berg has amazing info on everything. Definitely do NOT eat sugar as it feeds cancer! Grains also feed cancer.
Oh that’s so sad! My prayers for you Michele Lemoine ! Stay positive my friend - you can heal if you stay positive- chemo depends on what type cancer you have I guess- I have heard of some breast cancers being cured by immunotherapy and using food diet as cures etc without chemo which is a killer - it’s kills the cancer but also good non cancerous cells too unfortunately - but if there’s no choice - doctors will tell you chemo radiation surgery are the only choice like they did for me- hope you get cured soon! God bless you will stay positive dear- best of luck ! 🙏🙏🙏💖

Peanuts are a legume (a lectin-loaded bean), walnuts are not. Being this misinformed will lead to erroneous conclusions.
Thanks alot
will you please name the balsamic vinegar again like you did on another video
Hello Dr. Gundry, you spoke about yogurt thanks. How about goat/sheep/buffalo milk? Is that okay? Noticed they were all pasteurized.
people also can have pine nut allergies... i think its called pine mouth.
Thank you Dr. Gundry
Doesn't roasting peanuts eliminate lectin?
Thanks for this, your voice tone and breathing are off?
I'v been eating brown / white rice my whole life , nothing wrong with it, get real , everything in moderation! If you're rich u can eat that way! Good luck in the future!
Sir bufflo milk is good for health...
Actually we don't need any other species milk. But buffalo makes casein a2 milk so it's atleast safe to drink/eat and has a higher fat content than regular cow milk .
Pine nuts are mostly super expensive in most stores Dr G- not everyone can afford it and not slime are not good brands too! 😮
omg 500 g bag at Costco $45 😱😱😱double in price within a year. used walnuts to make pesto
@@rayjack exactly ! 👍
Walnuts are a better option
I’ve never seen or heard. cauliflower until I came to USA. Japanese eat white rice three times
a day almost all of them, nevertheless, the Japanese longevity is highest in the world so far.
Thank you for telling it like it is
Dr Gaudry, could you tell us what kind and quantity of sugar needs our brain?
Explain to me, please, the impact of this intel about lectins and the evils of lectins in beans and how this will or does impact the Mexican community and other communities that have beans as a staple of their diet? I visited England and discovered they eat a LOT OF o kidney beans over there. They eat beans at breakfast! How does this knowledge about lectins affect these populations? Cubans" Beans and rice, sounds nice." Thus, generations of people are killing themselves eating beans (including peanuts)? Please elaborate.
What’s the latest news on soy products for hypothyroidism including tempeh, etc plz - I’m very confused vegan/vegetarian sad😢
I learn so much from your videos, this was super helpful. I had no idea about casein A1!
Same here. I learned this not long ago. Now I use milk and yogurt with A2 casin
I believe that pine nuts are VERY expensive....right?
Thanks Dr G! I appreciate your info as always Happy New Year!
What about oxalate in almond butter? It’s bombshell of oxalate
Great explanation on why diet soda increases chances of diabetes! ⭐️
Never heard of eating pine nuts 😮
Lucky for me, I can get sheep greek yogurt where I live. So happy about it.
But a question: if I can buy casein A2 yogurt, is that alright then? I have a local farmer here, that has cassein A2 cows that are free ranged. So is that ok then?
Yes, it's ok when it's from casein a2 cows.
Unless you have an Allergy to Casein then it’s better to avoid dairy completely
Peanuts grow below the ground. Nuts grow above the ground. I was looking for a better peanut butter and noticed 90% have sugar as the second ingredient. Found one with two ingredients, peanuts and salt. Actually tastes like peanuts. Lectins and cholesterol are everywhere in nature. The all or nothing method has rarely worked. Thin and sickly is not my choice.
In other video you just said that peanuts were very good. In this one you say that peanust are full of lectins... what now?
Lots of doctors pho pho” Dr Gundry theory about Lectins in food saying it’s ok if you are are allergic to lectins otherwise people who don’t have any problems eating lectin rich foods don’t have to worry/ they won’t get any leaky gut” or any such problems “ one doctor said - so why and how do you check for ke tin allergy doc?
@Nicegram-Me-@DrGundry who is this? Is this spam ? What does this mean ? I won what??? This is first time I am commenting and watch videos here as I don’t always get time to watch all Gundry videos but good work Doc! Appreciate all you do ! But is this you or your office or team or your staff whatever” who is replying? What did I win? 🤣😄😀
What is nice gram?
@@balabalakrishna9960 This is spam and have nothing to do with Dr Gundry. Just ignore it .
Does Nutella count as hazelnut butter?
I would guess no.
Don't bother asking a question. Gundry , like Oz or Mecuro is to busy making money to read any comments much less answer them (I know for fact)
I eat linguine once and awhile with olive oil and shrimp the only time I eat rice is when I'm in a Chinese restaurant lactose intolerant so never touch you hurt once and awhile buffalo mozzarella stip hying bacon and sausage but I'm addicted french fries

Yes pine nuts are great but you have to take out a personal loan to afford them 😢
Everything is good for you in right amount.
Buy the books, learn to read , learn to cook

Eden brand bean cans in the local Natural Grocers store say zip about lectins being less in the cans of beans sold there.
neither is this term ( lectins ) found anywhere at their website .
dr gundry would be good to cite the source of his Eden beans info
You can email a company to confirm pressure cooking method, or not
My previous doctor just stated add squeezed lemon, onto H2O, ,add electrolytes curbs hunger...lol
Lots of love for Dr Gundry.
I love these videos, my crohns disease has been pretty much cured by eating your food recommendations! its crazy how messed up the western diet is
I don’t understand how peanuts give no problem to so many people I know- they eat whole roasted peanuts, eat peanut butter with everything and put peanuts in everything- people in India use peanuts ( specially poor to middle class and even rich people - though it’s called the poor man’s protein source)), and they are healthy and fit nothing happens to them.
This is just like sebi a lot of no food here is on sebi acid food vs alkaline
Thanks Dr
@4:26 has anyone tried this “great alternative”? It’s NASTY
What about 7 up free it says that its made no artificial flavours ?
It still has a high sugar content
@@Palmetto-J What about sugar free? Wonder why none of them use Xylitol or maltital stevia, agave etc as alternative to aspartame and ace-k?
And some are not good brands I meant
Pine nuts are to expensive for most people
I have stage four cancer. Please let me know what to do to get cured.
Just research on TH-cam and you will find answers. Dr Berg has amazing info on everything. Definitely do NOT eat sugar as it feeds cancer! Grains also feed cancer.
chemo
Oh that’s so sad! My prayers for you Michele Lemoine ! Stay positive my friend - you can heal if you stay positive- chemo depends on what type cancer you have I guess- I have heard of some breast cancers being cured by immunotherapy and using food diet as cures etc without chemo which is a killer - it’s kills the cancer but also good non cancerous cells too unfortunately - but if there’s no choice - doctors will tell you chemo radiation surgery are the only choice like they did for me- hope you get cured soon! God bless you will stay positive dear- best of luck ! 🙏🙏🙏💖

Dr G says he eats 92 % cacao but 8% is a mixture SUGAR ,vanilla ground vanilla BEAN. WHY not just use a scoop the one comes in Dr G red and dump it in hot peppermint Tea.

My mother is 10 years older than this guy and looks younger.
The average family cannot afford those butters . And the kids love peanut butter ! Groceries are going sky high.
What are families to feed the kids ! ? If it wasn't for the school lunch, half the kids would go hungry !
Roasting peanuts and other lectin rich foods apparently greatly reduces the lectins - thus peanut butter would be relatively safe.
My Chinese medicine doctor told me to eat millet for breakfast every day. Since then, my rash has been 90% gone.
Remove rice from the asian tables and this would signal the end of the world .
