    1. Avoid Peanut butter (bean not a nut), cashew butter, sunflower seed butter
    Alternative - walnut, halzelnut, tahini, sesame seed, pistachio butter, peeled almond butter
    Or add couple drops of coconut aminos to get peanutier taste
    2. Avoid Regular or diet soda
    Alternative healthy soda recipe - Pellegrino or any sparkling water + 2 tbsp aged balsamic vinegar + squeeze fresh lime (warning - some balsamic vinegar has sugar)
    3. Avoid rice + pasta, loaded with lectin. Whole grains worse than regular grains. Grains and starch turn into sugar in your body.
    Rice Alternative - millet, sorghum not the sweetener but the grain, cauliflower rice, konjac based rice.
    Pasta Alternative - shirataki noodles, konjac noodles, Big Green millet noodles, Cassava pastas, sorghum spaghetti
    4. Greek yogurt - allowed the water to drip out so protein content is higher but cow’s milk yogurt sold in USA is made from casein A1 producing cows. Casein A1 is a harmful protein that can damage your gut.
    Alternative - goat, sheep yogurt, Buffalo milk yogurt or coconut yogurt. Make sure it’s unsweetened. Add your own vanilla extract
    5. Beans. Lectins can be reduced by pressure cooker. Or use Eden or Jovial brand. They come in non-BPA containers. Jovial in glass containers. These brands pressure cook it ahead of time.
    NON-Bean Alternative - PINE NUTS have healthy fats and help you lose weight. If you soak pine nuts in water or chicken stock, they get a texture similar to beans. Eg. Use Pine nuts in chili
    (oh doc, pine nuts 500g bag at Costco $45 Jan 2023, more than doubled in price from Sept 2021 ($21)

(2) Read the paper "Review of the potential health impact of β-casomorphins and related peptides" published by the European food safety authority. They suggest that A1 caseins are not considered unhealthy to humans.

    I looked into Cassava flour pasta. But I read on the box that the pasta may contain lead. Apparently, the cassava flour is made from a root that absorbs lead from the ground. That's not to say all soil has lead in it but for me it wasn't worth the risk. Pasta made from Konjac flour is great. I believe the company is called Livina.

    I was in hospital for blood clots 12 years ago and the doctor caring for me had me on a 'healthy' diet for the 14 days under his care. Plain Cheerios was one of his choices. I actually began to like them and after reading the label of contents, I was surprised to find that the Cheerios only had 110 cal. per 3/4 of a cup of ceral. This began my search for other cerials with the same or near calorie count. From then on, I have also tried to teach my wife and others about watching the calorie count. Everything that I see in the grocery store, sells best with sugar on it! I get annoyed with the crap that is sold as healthy but only if it has sugar on it ot in it!

The only joint I didn't have it was in my jaw. I was a complete mess for about 2 years but with the will to get better (naturally), I did. It was a long hard struggle. I've quit peanut butter long ago and don't miss it. NEVER did diet sodas (I worked for Coke for years and knew better!!!) i love Rice wtih some things- but don't do much of it any more -- maybe once or twice a year.. pasta is a big no no.. Never do Greek yogurt or yogurt at all, Don't do a lot of beans-- the last year I've done CARNIVORE- and felt great at first- but now the pains and stuff I lost are BACK with a vengance- and I'm sick of MEAT... can't eat anything any more without breathing issues- pains, and more.. SO-- screw it- I'm 66 and won't be around that much longer anyway- so from now on- I eat what i want- IN MODERATION-- and if it kills me at least i'll go happy. Sick of DIETS, and all the KNOW IT NOTHINGS telling me what is or not good for me. BESIDES for every one that says it's BAD there are more that say it's NOT regardless of what it concerns.... Steven Gundry proposed a lectin-free diet in his book The Plant Paradox (2017). It excludes a large range of commonplace foods including whole grains, legumes, and most fruit, as well as the nightshade vegetables: tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, and chili peppers.[22][23] Gundry's claims about lectins are considered pseudoscience. His book cites studies that have nothing to do with lectins, and some that show-contrary to his own recommendations-that avoiding the whole grains wheat, barley, and rye will allow increase of harmful bacteria while diminishing helpful bacteria.[24][25][26]

    • @mlbloverock

      The results his patients experienced are documented fact. They were were not pseudoscience. I have been on a lectin-free diet for almost three months. 62 yrs old, 6 ft tall, went from 208 to 170 lbs eating lectin-free healthy foods, low sugar dark chocolate, good nuts, the healthy fruits, avoiding lectin-bomb flours, unhealthy oils, dangerous vegetables, etc. I do a shot of Moroccan olive oil every day. I feel and look better than I have in 10 years, lots of energy, and I'm wearing jeans from the 80s. Pseudoscience my ass!

  • @WeddingDJBusiness
    @WeddingDJBusiness ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I think you probably need to point out when most of these things are boiled, roasted etc. The amount of lectin is drastically reduced. The next it would be good to talk about quantity as how much are you going to consume. A jar of peanut butter ( very unhealthy) or a scraping of peanut butter on some toast ( by all accounts should be fine) Peanut butter has reduced lectins compared to raw peanuts. The next problem if you are paranoid about lectins in the peanut butter why are you recommending walnut butter etc. It is all just sounding like a religion and becoming devout follower not backed much science/trials. No food as far as I am aware ... is pure and yes some foods need to be prepared before eating, but this kind of elimination diet philosophy is simply fooling yourself. Moderation is key to most of these things.

    • @abdulbadenjki5292
      @abdulbadenjki5292 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but if you have gut damage or any digestive related problems, even small amounts of these foods would be harmful for you.
      But for healthy people moderate amounts with good preparation seems to be ok , because our parents and older did eat theses foods everyday like grains and beans without any issues, it’s all about how you prepare the foods.
      Raw Nuts and seeds will cause absolutely gut damage with the time no doubt about that , but soaked roasted one are pretty fine and healthy.

    • @WeddingDJBusiness
      @WeddingDJBusiness ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@abdulbadenjki5292 Agree, but would like just to add your body does build up some resistance to these foods and when you eliminate from your diet completely your body has less ability to deal with these foods when they are introduced. Moderation is key rather than elimination.

    But a question: if I can buy casein A2 yogurt, is that alright then? I have a local farmer here, that has cassein A2 cows that are free ranged. So is that ok then?

    Peanuts grow below the ground. Nuts grow above the ground. I was looking for a better peanut butter and noticed 90% have sugar as the second ingredient. Found one with two ingredients, peanuts and salt. Actually tastes like peanuts. Lectins and cholesterol are everywhere in nature. The all or nothing method has rarely worked. Thin and sickly is not my choice.

    Dr. Gundry do you do debates with other doctor/scientist out side your echo chamber? I think it would be great to see doctors and scientist debate all the different information that been coming out between veggies and meat eating. But I know a lot of doctors don't want their ideas challenged which I think is horrible for all. Like science get debated on a lot. Peer review challenges and such. I think it would be very informative to the general public. I would also like to know where you got the research info on the meat creating this unique sugar. In all the research I've done, never run across it, so would appreciate the link to where I can read up on that as well. I'm rather familiar with oxalates and lectin, enjoyed the refresher. Also you said meat can cause colon cancer, I've heard another dr. say the same but nether of you provided the research notes on this. The only thing I had found was research done on dead colon patients. They found massive amounts of fiber still sitting in a pouch in the colon. I'm eagerly waiting for the links so I may read more on what you been teaching us. Thanks kindly.

    These suggestions won't work for everyone (and he should say that). If you're on a low oxalate diet / many of these foods are off limits. If you have interstitial cystitis again, some here are a no - go. Too many other conditions to name (IBS), (IBD), diverticulitis, chrons ...in fact anyone with ANY condition at ALL that effects their diet should definitely consult with their physician and dietitian before taking ANYONE's advice on what they should or should not eat.

    I don’t understand how peanuts give no problem to so many people I know- they eat whole roasted peanuts, eat peanut butter with everything and put peanuts in everything- people in India use peanuts ( specially poor to middle class and even rich people - though it’s called the poor man’s protein source)), and they are healthy and fit nothing happens to them. They eat groundnuts( as they are originally called in their shells! How does lectins in peanuts not affect them? Do lectins cause harm to all who eat lectins from peanuts and other nuts doctor G?

    • @HuFlungDung2
      @HuFlungDung2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you react to a particular lectin, then it's a problem for you. Gundry's take is from dealing with a unique population of people with gut issues, which means he's not talking to ordinary folks, but people with an unsolved problem. I never had gut issues and tried the lectin free diet for a while and found ZERO effect. So I went back to eating typical foods and noticed nothing different.
      Reducing useless carbs is effective at reducing joint inflammation so I eat a lot more fats and proteins and go low carb using intermittent fasting as a tool to reduce glycogen stores when I'm a bad eater. Works for me.

Stay positive my friend - you can heal if you stay positive- chemo depends on what type cancer you have I guess- I have heard of some breast cancers being cured by immunotherapy and using food diet as cures etc without chemo which is a killer - it’s kills the cancer but also good non cancerous cells too unfortunately - but if there’s no choice - doctors will tell you chemo radiation surgery are the only choice like they did for me- hope you get cured soon! God bless you will stay positive dear- best of luck ! 🙏🙏🙏💖
