Speaking of food in Taiwan, you can not miss it in Tainan. Food in Tainan is the locals are proud of.

No it doesn't...it's exactly as the name implies;...stinky tofu!...of course I don't like tofu to begin with. Remember the rule..." acquired taste" means "taste like crap until you're so drunk you don't care or are unconscious." Just joking of course...some ppl actually like it.

Anything fried or deep fried...up north it's the dumplings and noodles, down south it's the seafood...in the middle...anything made out of meat!

台湾真的是美食天堂,食物简单又好吃。 那里的美食都是用爱心做出来的,一点都不虚伪。好想念回到台湾这美丽的国家。Taiwan is really a food paradise. Everything is so simple and yet delicious. Nothing there is pretentious or overdone. There is no caviar, gold shavings, truffle. It's all just really honest food made with love passed down through the generations. Even their 7-11 and Family Mart has a plethora of choices that you cannot find elsewhere. Ah, I miss Taiwan so much.

Nice round up! Makes us wish we could transport back there right now. We went to Din Tai Fung too and liked the xiao long bao, but felt the pork chop over fried rice stole the show! Really want to try that aiyu jelly in conch shell next time. Funny thing is that we have noticed the black sugar bubble milk more often here in NYC after having it in Taipei.

Eileen Aldis wow, absolutely what a great video that you made again! I love Apple Sider and definitely, it can be my water, haha but it's not very healthy if you choose that to be your every single day. By the way, I reckon that you can buy Apple Sider in Cannada as well because there are lots of Asian supermarket in Canada and they sell it for sure and it might be expensive than Taiwan. I would like to share a tip for drinking Apple Sider if you would like to try it. You can buy a lemon and slice it and put it into a cup and put the Apple Sider into the cup. Trust me, you will like it.

it warms my heart to see one of my fave youtubers enjoy my country so much! as much as i want to keep taiwan a hidden secret from being on the tourist radar, i also want the world to see how AMAZING taiwan really is! and i want my country to thrive from tourism as well! everything you had in this video is everything i grew up eating....i dont get to eat it much now even though its easily accessible here in SoCal but i save it for special occasions ;) ~sara

Taiwan definitely feels like a hidden gem because it's amazing and yet, as you say, not high on the tourist radar. So, so glad you're enjoying this series - lots more coming, including more food. Maybe some more childhood favourites?!

18 folds to those dumplings is incredibly intricate artwork. I really hope those workers who make dumplings of that level of intricacy daily are well enough paid for their skills, speed, and dedication to their trade of dumpling making. PS, I did catch your efforts at learning how to make the dumplings yourself in that video recently. Kudos to your own efforts at trying it out also.

I hope so too as they are indeed so skilled and FAST at making them. And thank you! I loved getting to try it out. As usual, made me appreciate how they do it even more :) The care that goes into each one enhances the flavour and experience.

Of course you would hit my most favorite thing in the whole world...FOOD! ...and Taiwan is known to be the foodie capital of the world!!!...Come on...night markets and day markets everywhere and seafood...and dumplings...OMG! (Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My!). I may have to alter my course and cut straight across...how far is that from Central America by boat?... worth a few extra thousand miles or so and perhaps some rough nights at sea just to eat there!... Totally worth it! Assuming no hurricanes I should be there in a month or so! Hahahaha! Another great video! Thank! Great editing btw!

Thank you! I feel the exact same way of 'lions and tigers and bears...oh my!' with all the food choices in Taiwan. SO many delicious things to try. Yesss! You can still get Apple Sidra in America but it's hard to find. If you want to find it, go to a small local Chinese or Taiwanese local store that imports directly from Taiwan and other countries. Also, be sure to try Stinky Tofu, Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken, Oyster Omelette, Taiwanese Chicken Rice, Pork Feet Rice, "Wah Guay", Taiwanese Sausages, and the list could go on forever! These are more traditional Taiwanese street food so it's delicious and cheap! My family is around the Renwu area in Kaohsiung, and there is more street food around there.

Hi Eileen, in case you don’t know, Apple Cidra is available in almost all Chinese grocery stores in the U.S. I’m gonna say it should be easy for you to find it in Canada too. Yet instead of bottles, it usually comes in 350-ml can in the U.S.

Great video Eileen and Mark! I've never traveled to Taiwan but here in Southern California, I've been exposed to the beef noodles and the bubble tea (we call it bobba here in Cali). We even have several locations of Din Tai Fung and it is a family favorite. You guys should stop by the Los Angeles metro and eat some of the Asian food here. I'd be interested to know if it compares to any of the authentic stuff you're eating in your travels. Happy travels!

Eileen Aldis I love the classic bubble tea, too. I will be going to Taipei and Taichung in December and will look for Apple Sidra. It’ll be cold then but I will still get it. Maybe I will bring home some to the Philippines and have it there so I can experience how good it is when the weather is hot.
