  • There’s an excellent chance that whatever you’re eating in Taiwan (台灣) is delicious because good food is everywhere, so it’s reasonable to feel sad when the yummy meal comes to an end. But hark! Rejoice! DESSERT is still to come. Taiwan is known as heaven for foodies and the dessert scene is no exception. This video is all about the unique flavours that make Taiwanese desserts hit the sweet spot. For more about Taiwan, and other Taiwanese foods and drinks, check the rest of my Taiwan series below.

You can try to go to some very traditional market. You can find some classic desserts. Like some cake made of rice or grass.

@@EileenAldis The green stuff is candied fruit which was made of Taiwanese native species mango. You can compare the size of it "the green one" with other mango here health.udn.com/health/story/6037/3197507. It always got the strong sour taste no matter what the maturity it is in. And I guess it was not considered as an economic corp by the government decades ago, and it became popular roadside trees once and planted by county governments on two sides of roads.

Haha. Seems many desserts are of the frozen type, not sure if it's because it was hot when you went. But I like "wheel cakes" (車輪餅). Traditionally it has red bean filling, but I love the custard ones. There are several shops with even more modern takes on the dessert. For dessert I always bring boxes back to US is taro mochi flaky pastry...
